My mother has a lesion in her left basifrontal lobe which is the most probable cause for the Generalised Tonic Clonic Seizures she's been having since May 2013. The doctor had suggested taking Levipil 500 twice daily. The thing is there has been no improvement since and she still gets seizures. A few days back she had a very severe life threatening attack after which the doctor has increased the dosage to Levipil 500 in the moning and Levipil 750 in the night along with an additional drug Encorate Chrono (300 in the morning and 500 in the night). Googling the new drug suggested a lot of side effects. My mother is already very weak mentally, not sure if depression is what she needs. Suggestions? ## Hello, Vanya! How is your mother doing? My daughter has been on vimpat 15 months. She has swollen glands off and on. Last week her glands were the size of small plums! Her primary said it was not an infection as her neurologist suggested. The neuro said stop the vimpat but now she is very sluggish and sleepy all day, but her glades have gone down completely. Should she have stopped cold turkey? She says sees bright spots and feels disoriented. ## Hello Kanie, I am happy to hear that your daughters glands swelling has gone down and fortunately for you the National Institute of Health has deemed that Vimpat (lacosamide) is not a dependency forming drug. This means that it is alright for her to have stopped the drug without weening off of it. That brings me to my next point, if she is seeing bright spots and feeling disoriented ...

I have bipolar disorder and have been on almost everything for it, was taking depakote and Saphris which worked great but I gained a ton of weight so doc switched me to lamotrigine because it’s weight neutral. Starting off at 25mg/day and working up to 300mg/day. Gradually by the time I got up to 100 in the morning and 150 at nite I had a RELENTLESS bronchial cough that wouldn’t respond to any kind of treatment, that became so violent that I would start vomiting until everything was completely gone from my stomach. I don’t actually feel sick at all I just have this obnoxious never ending cough that ends in throwing up. Also had lost my voice. Now I have gone all the way back down the dosing schedule and am just getting ready to go completely off of it. Tomorrow will be...

This medication is most commonly known for treating seizures, migraine headaches and bipolar disorder. Valparin has also been evaluated for the treatment of AIDS and cancer, due to its histone deacetylase-inhibiting effects. I want to know the difference between GABAPENTIN a RX and OTC GABA? ## Hello, Pamela! How are you? There are two completely different substances. The FDA classifies Gabapentin as an anticonvulsant that can also help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. It requires a doctor's prescription and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain. A sudden withdrawal may also create the risk of seizures. The Gaba that you see available over the counter, however, is just a nutritional supplement. The full name for it is actually Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid. It is just an amino acid. Are the effects cumulative or do they dissipate after a while, I’m taking two 300mg pills a day. one moRniNG, one night? They were assigne for spinal stenoius and a hurneated disc and a slipped disc.they work some of the time, particularly in the morning and evening.i often skip them during the day when I am more physical and the pain lessens. So should I keep taking them regularly or only when I have pain. ## They work best when taken regularly, so the medication remains in your system at a constant level. They are not cumulative, our bodies eventually process everything out. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, and mood changes. Are you on any other medications?

Can you take Gabapentin with Zubsolv safely? I have been on Gabapentin for a while now but just started taking Zubsolv for opiate addiction and don't know if it's safe to take together. ## Yes, you can take Neurotin with the Zubsolve. I take both daily. ## They can be taken together, as Deanna has stated, but the FDA does warn that combining may result in more severe symptoms of respiratory depression, such as drowsiness, dizziness, sedation. You should also be aware to watch for extreme drowsiness, shallow breathing, and other signs of respiratory distress. Is your doctor aware that you are taking both of them? It is always important that you be properly monitored, for your health and safety.
