What would be the correct dosage for my prescription? I have permanent nerve damage from back surgery.
Updated in GabapentinHi, i've just been prescribed Gabapentin 300mg but was meant to get Pregabalin 300mg. Is there any difference in what they actually do and should I just start to take them or should I call Dr and ask for the Pregabalin??? ## Hello, Wayne! How are you? They are both anticonvulsants that have also been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders, so they are pretty much interchangeable, but you may not be on the right dosage, since they don't exchange evenly across the board. The FDA lists the typical side effects of them as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I'm taking 1200 mg 3 x daily do should I really take 600 of Pregabalin?
I was given a couple 400mg gabapentins from a friend for some migraines, I took them but found out that I will be having a drug screen and am worried that these pills can be detected, so please could someone let me know whether or not I'm worrying for nothing or if I have something to worry about, thanks ## If you've given yourself at least a few days, odds are that it's less likely to show up under any sort of urine, saliva, or blood test. What's more risky in my opinion, is the opportunity for a false-positive to show up. Where as it can sometimes show that you took something completely different and then you're left trying to explain yourself. The good thing is since most standard drug screens test for illicit drugs, controlled medications, and medications with a ...
I was taking 300 mg neurontin. 1 in am, 1 at noon and 2 at bedtime. I was prescribed the med in May of 2013. Increased later when not helping with foot numbness. It has been almost 2 weeks since i tapered myself off of the drug and i still feel nausea in the am which affects my eating. Please advise how long it will take this med to be out of my system? Thank you. ## Hi Cindy, Sorry to hear about the nausea you've been experiencing lately. From what I've been researching, in most cases it usually ends up being around 2 to 5 days for this type of medication to clear your system. However because you've been taking it for about a year, I'd imagine your body could still probably use some time to get accustomed to not having it on a regular basis. One study I found mentioned ...
I'm 35 weeks pregnant and getting panic and anxiety attacks. Is it safe to use Urbanol 10mg during my pregnancy? ## Based on my research, Urbanol (Clobazam) has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Apparently available animal data suggests a developmental toxicity, including long-term effects on neurobehavioral and immunological function, and an increased incidence of fetal abnormalities following oral administration of Clobazam to pregnant animals at doses similar to those used clinically in humans. Although there is no controlled data in human pregnancy, the data for Clobazam does show an increased risk of adverse effects, including: Neonatal flaccidity, respiratory and feeding difficulties, hypothermia, and a host of other withdrawal symptoms that have been reported ...
I've been on Dilantin for many yrs. Started out taking 300mgs daily. As Dilantin was helping to prevent a seizure. My life has been put on hold. Tried Tegartol, lamictol(put me in a Grandmal Seizure). Had to go back to Dilantin. Was given generic Dilantin. Life seemed to be fine until I was so weak in the hospital with no Dilantin in my blood stream. Also, my potassium and calcium very low. Now it's medically necessary I take brand naned Dilantin300mg also Keppra(1000mg)/ Dilantin400mg w/Keppra1000mg. Alternating days I'm taking med's as needed but, it's been a prob with levels to low or levels to high. I am back to just 300mg Dilantin w/1000mg Keppra. Have to get levels repeated in a week. Is it me, the med's and or both? Having a seizure 1st started in a foster...
My doctor told me to stop taking hctz after being on it for 7+ years on 2-2-17 because I was feeling dizzy and I had a seizure. My neurologist put me on Vimpat for seizures on 2-3. Hctz worked very well for my joints and especially my knees after 3 knee surgeries. What can I take to help my burning knees while taking vimpat? I have tried 6 ibuprofen per day but they do not work that well. No problem with peeing without hctz the diuretic I was taking. Do I need a diuretic for edema or a joint pain med which don't work. Help! I am 60 and female. ## If the Hydrochlorothiazide helped with joint pain, then it stands to reason that you may be experiencing fluid retention in your joints. Have you discussed this with your doctor? What have they said is causing your pain? Are you on any othe...
I've heard that gabapentin has a shelf life of five years after expiration. Most pharmacists have to put a earlier expiration date on them however. And even if gabapentin is expired they pose no risk. Maybe they'll lose some of their effectiveness, but that's it. ## Hello, Cindy! How are you? Yes, that information is correct and no, they do not become toxic. Once the pharmacy breaks the seal on the original factory bottle, they are required, by the FDA, to put a one year expiration date on the dispensing bottle, because that is the longest time the manufacturers can guarantee their full efficacy under average storage conditions, in someone's home. The 4 to 5 years is under ideal storage conditions, where they aren't exposed to the elements that can cause degradation,...
My son is taking serdep (antidepressant) and urbanol (anticonvulsant)- What should I be concerned about in regards to side effects and what other solutions besides medication is there? ## The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and irritability. The Urbanol also carries the risk of being habit forming. Counseling might help, but medications are usually used for a while, to keep things under control, until the counseling helps. What condition is being treated? ## Good evening. My 56 year old mother has been on Serdep and Urbanol for littlw over a month, due to depression and signs of dementia. She has no appetite, she is complaining of headaches daily and she experiences days where she is nauseous. She is also complaining of a scratching ...
I need a color picture of gabapentin 300 mg capsules ## Located a picture of Gabapentin 300 mg (NDC 60505-0113): Hope this helps! ## I am in Canada, could the Gabapentin 300mg capsules be all yellow with a 300 and an "N" on them? ## this pill is yellow, 300 mg cap,300 mg and lg322 on right end of cap. invagen pharmacy , ny. ...please tell me if this is safe. ## I was prescribed gabapentin years ago and recently changed pharmacies. The prior pharmacy's 300mg pill was all yellow. Now the recent pharmacy gave me a multi-colored yellow/brown pill with the number 2666 on it. Is this the same pill? ## My pill has 266 on it.
I recently started taking gabapentin to alleviate nerve pain from fibromyalgia, but now I am having a metal taste in my mouth and all the teeth brushing in the world doesn't stop it. I am also eating myself out of house and home with this med.... anyone else have this problem, and if so, how do I stop it? ## Hello, Strephannie! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems that you're having. The FDA does list these issues as possible side effects of taking Gabapentin, along with dizziness, headache, dry mouth and mood swings. However, most side effects do tend to improve, as your body gets used to the medication, but it may take a month or so. But weight gain is a problem that most people have when taking this medication and that doesn't usually change, as long as they are ...
I am 25 and have been on Keppra for about 2 years. I have not had any seizures since last January but I have developed SEVERE cystic Acne. I had some acne when I was young but this is scaring and distoring my face and neck? This is not listedas a side effect but I didn't have this before and it is the only medication I take. I sa on some blogs that others has similar issues is that true. ## The side effect information that you receive from the pharmacy or find on the monographs on our site are just abbreviated versions, only required to list the first so many prominent side effects, there are usually many more that you will only find if you specifically look for the 'full prescribing information' or 'physicians prescribing information. Here's the link to one: ## Toda...
The pharmacy I go to is out of Klonopin (Clonazepam). I take 0.5 mg every night before bed for epilepsy. Can I take an expired one? Two years ago they gave me the wrong prescription for a 1 mg that I still have. Can I use it even though it’s expired? ## Clonazepam does not become dangerous once expired, but it might have lost some efficacy, depending on how it was stored. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and irritability. Ref: Clonazepam Information Is there anything else I can help with? ## Somebody should have told you to have your prescription transferred to a pharmacy that had the medication in stock. This is easily done and should have been recommended by the pharmacy t...
I recently got an Rx of 600 mg Gabapentin made by Intas Pharmaceuticals. They are an India-based company and I fill my prescription through an Indian pharmacy. They don't have any imprints on them but they were in foil packs clearly marked. I just wonder if anybody has any experience with these?
Updated in GabapentinMy brother takes Dilantin for epilepsy and was hospitalized and in the process he was perscribed 600 units when he normally takes 260 to 300 units? What can happen to him with the level being 38.7? ## TALK TO THE DOCTOR! Was the usual dose your brother took preventing seizures? If not, that may be why his dosage was increased. If that was not the case, be sure the professionals in charge of his care are keenly aware of the proper dose he should be taking! Balance is very important. I am also epileptic, occassionally I forgt to take my daily dose. When that happens, I have to take the meds I missed in addition to the meds needing to be taken. The extra dosage will cause your brother to sleep deep! He may be drunk the following day or so after this unusually high dose of meds. Starting a ...
I was wondering if anyone has ever had any diabetic problems after using neurontin. I had to take it for nerve damage. I have never had any troubles with my blood sugar until after I stopped taking it. Now I have serious sugar problems. I am only 28 yrs old. My mother also had nerve damage in her arm and was also on it. After she stopped taking it, she started having extreme problems with her sugar. The thing that surprises me is that there is no history of diabetes in our family and suddenly we both end up with it within a year and shortly after stopping neurontin. Has anyone else had these problems? If so, please contact me. ## Your Md should have been monitoring yur blood sugar while on neurotin. Ican be one of the side affects are you on any other meds that could cause this-some tre...
Does gabapentin help at all with opiate withdrawals? Does it make it at all any more comfortable? ## It may help alleviate some of the symptoms and prevent the risk of possible seizures, according to FDA reports. Has your doctor prescribed it for you? Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight changes. Are you on any other medications? ## I've been off methadone for 9 days and I took 3 Co-codamol. Will that make my withdrawals even worse? Also, does gabapentin help with opiate withdrawal? ## Hello, I am currently on day 6 of being off opiates after a 60-80mg (give or take a day) habit for 2 years... My first 2 days I didn't use anything to cope with withdrawals. Over the next 3 days, I took 900mg of gabapentin, 600mg of gab...
How would I know if it contains gluten in the list of inactive ingredients? ## Hello, Peggy! How are you? What are the markings on the Gabapentin that you've received from your pharmacy? That would enable me to check the ingredients for you. The FDA classifies this medication as being an anticonvulsant that is also used to treat certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain. ## On my prescription bottle label, the manufacturer's name is right below the name of the drug in small print. You can google that drug/mfr name to see if it's gluten free. ## D03 are the markings on my gabapentin. Can you tell me if it contains gluten? ## RE: Gabapentin (pill impri...

I am worried about long term use . Alot of my friends say it has bad side effects and long term use is bad for the heart. Has any one heard of any thing about long term use of this neurotin.
