I did a urine test to enter the military and it came back positive. I am not a drug user but I was on Cephalexin for a sinus infection a week or so before testing. I am perplexed??? Could the Cephalexin caused a false/positive test? Thank you ## I am assuming they sent the urine to a lab for a GC/MS test or was it a rapid screening test? What drug did they say was positive?? I'm all out of Amoxicillin and have Pota-V-kin Penicillin V 800000U... Does this cure a UTI? Please help. ## Hi Juno, A study by the US National Institute of Health smugly describes Penicillin's efficacy against UTI's as being a rational choice. Source: NIH / PMC477226 However my research leads me to believe that Penicillin's efficacy may also be dependent upon the strain of bacteria that's causing the infection. Therefore it may be a good idea to have your doctor analyze the bacteria through whatever diagnostics are deemed appropriate, in order to ensure that taking Penicillin is indeed the best approach. If you're unable to get in to see a doctor, perhaps a local pharmacist could at least advise you on Penicillin's standard adult dosing protocols for a UTI....

i use these pills for kindey inffection if i stop usin them wat will happen ## If you don't finish the full course of an antibiotic, there is a definite risk that the bacteria that caused the infection will not be eradicated and will develop into antibiotic resistant bacteria. Such 'super' bacteria can make you very ill and will be much, much harder to eradicate with other antibiotics. I take 1 at night 1 in the morning. I took one dose of this drug for a cat bite. I took it with food as prescribed. During the night I had extreme stomach pain so bad I thought I was going to have to go the er. Then I had diarrhea with blood. I was so scared. I called my physician in the am to tell her what happened but by that time it had cleared up. She had one other patient this happened to after one dose.
