I have a bad stye on my lower eyelid and it is causing my eye to become red. Can I use Amoxicillin-Clavulanic acid 875mg for my eye? Last time I had this I had periocular cellulitis and I have the same symptoms. I was given Keflex, but I have a prescription for this medication. ## It may help, but you should not take it, unless your medical provider approves, because antibiotics should not be overused. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and diarrhea. Has any testing been done to see what's causing them? I used to get them, while married to my ex-husband, but I haven't gotten one in years. (I said this, so I will likely develop one soon. LOL) Anyway, I never thought to speak to my doctor and have them checked out.

can this be used for flu symptoms? ## Betamox contains Amoxicillin, this is an antibiotic and as such, it is ONLY effect against infections. It is NOT effect against viruses, such as those that cause the flu or a cold. In addition, if you use it for such, it could result in antibiotic resistant bacteria. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, skin rash and diarrhea. I have sinusitis and my doc prescribed me an antibiotic that starts with the letter "O" but I don't know what it is. ## Was it possibly Orbifloxacin (Orbax)? The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash, headache, and diarrhea. Is there any information on the label?

In July of 2017, i was admitted in the hospital for fluid overload, (I am on dialysis) my primary doctor was there and ordered xrays for my chest and had said my chest was clear and he left. But the other residents lied to me and said that i had pneumonia. And they proceeded to give me bags of levoflaxacin through if. Since I've been home, i am experiencing a strange discharge, my jaw is swollen on my left side, i had high blood pressure, lupus, pacemaker and on dialysis. It is October and have not taken one blood pressure pill because my pressure drops significantly during dialysis, i believe it is because of the levoflaxacin. I was given medication that i did not want or need and i guess that this is ok because I am powerless to do anything about this. I am angry because I am stil...

i had bad breath problem for last 3 weeks. The odor originates from my throat and sinuses. Dr gave me moxikind cv 625 + monticope + solvin cold + on e antacid capsule. Is the medicine OK for my problem. ## In most cases, when a problem like this is centered on the sinuses and throat, it is because of some type of infection, be it tonsilitis, strep throat or a sinus infection. What your doctor has given you should help, if that is indeed what is causing the problem. Moxikind-CV contains Amoxicillin with Clavulanic Acid, which is an antibiotic used to treat many different types of infections. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, skin rash and diarrhea. Learn more: Monticope contains Levocetirizine and Montelukast, this is an antihistamine commonly used to help with aller...

I had malaria three weeks ago and I have treated it but am still not feeling fine as I am still coughing. Can I use Augmentin to treat the cough? The cough does not bring out phlegm but it's disturbing. ## Hello, Gee! How are you? Augmentin will not do anything to treat a cough. It is an antibiotic that is only effective at treating bacterial infections. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Have you consulted your doctor? They should be able to direct you to something you can safely take. ## My mother has had a dry cough after taking augmentin for one week for throat congestion. She was taking three 625mg tablets per day.

Has any women had a reaction to using Clindesse vaginal cream? I am having serious itching and burning after my one dose. Have really not had time to go back to the doctor due to work issues but I think I am going to have to. ## YES! The same thing happened to me. I will never take this medicine again. It turned an annoying BV itch into a burning horrible itch. I finally had to douche this medicine out. ## The itching is a normal side effect of this medication. ## My doctor said that extreme itching and burning is not normal and indicates an allergic reaction. She explained that slight irritation is the common side effect that the manufacturer describes. Basically, if you itch worse than you did with BV- this medication is not for you. She put me on a regimen of icepacks and Benadryl un...

My 3 minth ild baby girl got urine infectiin and doctor advised to give cefixime 2.5ml, 2 times a day for 7 days. By mistake i have given one dose in morning and one dose in afternoon. Instead of giving doses in morning and night. Is there anything to worry. Please help. ## Hello, Yas! How is your daughter doing? Has there been any change? Giving them too close together generally won't cause dangerous harm, but if consistent levels aren't maintained in her body for the proper amount of time, it may not eradicate the bacteria and could cause it to develop antibiotic resistance. Thus, it would be best to inform her doctor, so they can check, just in case. I have a gum infection. My dentist prescribed Amoxicillin 500 mg, 4 times a day. Would this be considered to be a "normal" dose of the medication? It seems to me to be quite a high dosage, i.e., 2000 mg a day. I just need some guidance on this. ## It can vary, depending on the severity of the infection being treated and thus, can range from 2 to 4 doses daily. And you also have to remember that in this case, where it is a gum infection being treated, you have to eradicate the existing infection and prevent reinfection, since you have to eat every day and expose your gums to further possible contaminants. A higher dosage might cause more severe side effects, such as worsening of the nausea, dizziness and diarrhea that antibiotics can cause. Are there any other questions? You can ...

I went in with bad ear aches and was obviously told I have ear infections. I was given amoxicillin along with Neomycin and polymyxin b sulfates and hydrocortisone otic solution, usp. It was fine the first two days then the third day and today it burns my right ear very badly. I can't keep it in the 5 min. My left ear still feels no major pain when using. Is this normal?? ## Yes, the FDA does list that as being a possible side effect of this medication, you may also experiencing redness, drainage, and itching. If it is that severe, you might need to consult your doctor about trying a different medication, or sticking with oral antibiotics, it might be that this isn't the right one for you. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

All doctors have prescribed me to take 1 antibiotic 4 times a day, but another doctor said to take 2 tablets twice a day. Does it matter how you take them? Which method has the best effect? ## Hello, Kathy! How are you? It is consistent dosing that's important, you have to keep it in your system at a consistent regular level, in order for it to eradicate the bacteria. So, you can take it, either way, whichever works best for you, but keep the timing as precise as possible. If you take 2 of them twice a day, keep them as close to 12 hours apart as possible; or if you take it 4 times a day, keep them as close to 6 hours apart as possible. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anythin...

Hi - I was diagnosed with an inner ear bacterial infection, that I'm treating with Polymyxin B (with Sulfate) - no other antibiotic in the ear drops. I'm on my 3rd day of treatment and feeling better but still have some itching and noticing signs of constipation. Is this normal? How long should I use these drops? ## You should follow the prescribing instructions regarding the duration of use. The itching and constipation can be side effects that some people experience from using it, according to FDA reports. You may also experience ear redness, irritation, and drainage. The sulfate is not an additional ingredient, it just specifies the precise chemical salt the medication has been derived from. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

Can I give ofloxacin 50mg and ornidazole 125mg to my 4 month old baby as a treatment for diarrhea? ## Has your pediatrician instructed you to do so? I started with a tooth abscess in one of my front teeth where I had a crown/cap put on after a root canal years ago. I can see where food can get under the crown but I also have a swelled throat, neck, and top lip. I have taken Amoxi-Clav 875-125 3 times so far, two yesterday and one today. I am supposed to take them twice a day but I don't feel much better and now my top lip is swollen. When I sleep I wake up feeling like there is a bump in the back of my throat that I cannot swallow nor spit it out. Am I doing the right thing? Or does it sound as though the med is not strong enough to handle the infection that I have? Any suggestions are welcome. I have been brushing teeth, rinsing with peroxide (which of course I spit it all out) and warm salt water. Let me know what you think pl...

For the past 15 years my mother used to take Pentids 800mg, but now the tablets are not available in markets. Can anyone please tell me if there is a related alternative to Pentids containing Penicillin G? ## She can take any antibiotic that also contains Penicillin in the same dosage. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Has her doctor told her to continue this medication for this long? That is very unusual, if so. Is she on any other medications? ## She is suffering from a septic wound in her right leg at the age of 15 now she is 59. My boyfriend drank while on sulfamethoxazole. Now he feels like poop. He is suffering. So my question is, what now? Should he go to the drs again? Wait it out? Obviously he isn't drinking tonight, lol but i also think he should wait to continue the prescription, once the alcohol is out of his system.... These are being taken for more of a "preventive" infection from a spider bite he got at work. So, once he's free of these nasty enhanced side effects he can then continue the prescription (he only took 2 pills, before consuming beer). Thanks in advance. Oh and if you are thinking of drinking while on this, i would think twice. Its equivalent to the flu. ## Hello, Crystal! How are you?
