Certain infections are often cleared with a larger single or two day dose. Some infections can require 500mg a day for a longer duration. Google information for what you're trying to treat, not the medication you're trying. You'll be more apt to find information about what medications are effective and the proper dosages for that particular infection. ## That is correct, if you have the larger 500mg dosage, it is usually taken once a day, but if you have the lower 250mg dosage, usually 2 should be taken the first day, then one per day after that, until you finish them. Hi My daughter has 2 bottle of amoxicillin in the refrigerator. Never used but already mixed. The pink one. The expiration date in the bottle says January 2018. Will it still be good to use? The actual date mixed was July 18 2016 ## In my opinion it should be perfectly fine to take. I say this because I would personally feel comfortable taking it based on the info you provided. Depending on storage conditions many prescriptions can reportedly last up to 40 years after the listed expiration date (with few exceptions such as tetracycline). Harvard University and the LA Times both have articles online recognizing this... I was prescribed Cipro for Bronchitis in the hospital. I took only 4 doses 2 pills twice a day! I broke out with severe Hives and was given Benedryl, Predisone, Pepcid and nothing is helping! My wisdom teeth have been coming in and I can't afford a dentist trip right now. And when I eat, food gets stuck up in/under one of my wisdom teeth, thus, causing an infection. After taking Norflox TZ for treating a stomach infection, suddenly I observed severe red patches on my chest and also itching and swelling of my genitalia skin/scrotum. So I went to the doctor because I had flu like symptoms and a very sore throat with minor headaches. Doctor prescribed me cipro and prednisone. 2 500mg tabs/day for 10 days and prednisone 10mg tabs. 7 the first day, 6 the second, etc, etc. and 1 on the 7th day.
