Cipro Severe Hives

I was prescribed Cipro for Bronchitis in the hospital. I took only 4 doses 2 pills twice a day! I broke out with severe Hives and was given Benedryl, Predisone, Pepcid and nothing is helping! I am so itchy and uncomfortable and have been to the ER 3 times. What can I do. It's been 3 days since I stopped taking it and I am suffering so bad!!

Hello, Chrissy! How are you? I am so sorry about the hives, it's happened to me before, so I know how awful that is.

What dose of Benadryl have you been taking? You should check with your doctor first to make sure that it's safe for you, but you can usually take up to 50mgs per dose.

And soaking in a warm tub with some epsom salts may also help.

But otherwise, it's really just going to take time.

Hi thanks I have a appointment with my Dr next Tuesday hoping I can make it that long. The hives just continue to keep coming back I have to take 2 benedryl pills every 5 hours and I still feel horrible! They come and go and at night it's the worst. I also have severe anxiety from the Predisone! I sm hyperactive and can't sit still. I wanna sleep so bad but I just can't! The creams are not working either

That sounds horrible! My sister suffered badly with random, daily hives after a virus once, and was told by her doctor that she was just going to have to live with it, that it could go on indefinitely. She then saw a naturopath who put her on a liquid fast that consisted only of beet juice and orange juice combined. It only took 3 or 4 days, and that totally got rid of it.

I just read 280 heart wrenching complaints about Cipro and It was given to me in the E.R. this week. My neighbors make Meth around the clock and I am breathing their fumes. I can't afford tendon ruptures, ACL tears and all the other nasty things Cipro and the Cipro family can do to you. I will speak to my M.D. this week as I won't take this!

It happened to me I took one pill the night before I broke out and in the morning I have severe hives all over me except for my face and neck it took a whole week for the hives to stop breaking out I went to the ER and they couldn't do anything about it except give me Benadryl and cream to put on my hives they told me not to wear any long sleeves or long pants in to stay cold because if I got warm it would make me itch more and for the hives will break out more and to take cold showers they also said do not itch the highs for they will be more swollen other than that it took a total of three weeks for them to all disappear you could go to the dermatologist and see if there's anything they could give you other than the regular doctors
