I am in a very remote part of Mexico. The nearest doctor is a three day trek and its the rainy season. I have an infection that by all indications is gonerrhea. The only antibioc available is Ampicilina 500 mg . Will this have any effect? ## Based on my research, pentrexyl (ampicillin) won't cure gonorrhea, but it can be used as a treatment option. There doesn't seem to be a lot of info floating around online stating how effective it will be against gonorrhea But it will have some positive effect on it. At least much better than not treating it. I will post back if I am able to locate anymore information on this subject, and likewise if you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to get back to me.

I would like to know if Zoxan 500 is used to treat blood infection. If so, for what level of infgection it is used. Mild, average or serious? ## Ciprofloxacin is reported to be the active ingredient in Zoxan. Ciprofloxacin is used to treat a number of infections including: infections of bones and joints, endocarditis, gastroenteritis, malignant otitis externa, respiratory tract infections, cellulitis, urinary tract infections, prostatitis, anthrax, chancroid, among others. The term "among others" is very vague, so I think it best to contact your doctor to confirm its use for blood infection. I personally couldn't find any info relating it to that treatment, but your local doctor or pharmacy should be able to clarify that for you.

As to Cortomycin, it is listed as containing Neomycin, Polymoxin B and Hydrocortisone, it is an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory that is most commonly used to treat infections and, though the Hydrocortisone can help with some allergic reactions, this is really not the right medication to treat asthma. Have you consulted a doctor? You should do so, to get a conformation that it's asthma and, if it is, to get proper treatment.

Never self medicate. Avoid taking antibiotics for the common cold, viral diseases, dysentry, or mild fevers, as these are mostly self-limiting and usually antibiotics are useless when administered. Whenever, antibiotics are to be prescribed, always use the appropriate selective narrow spectrum antibiotic depending upon strain/bacterium and never discriminate antibiotic use... If there is no action today, there will be no cure tomorrow. Help to avoid antibiotic resistance and only prescribe the correct antibiotic of choice. In most cases, food poisoning doesn't require any type of medication and only needs supportive therapy, to ensure that the person affected doesn't get dehydrated. An antibiotic, such as Clindamycin, will only help if it has been caused by some type of infectious bacteria and, since they can actually cause diarrhea, as a side effect, they are usually only prescribed in such case when it is absolutely necessary.

Is Amoxicilina 500mg the generic for Penicillin VK 500mg? ## To answer your question, no, Amoxicillin is not the generic for Penicillin VK. Both of these antibiotics are their own generic form, but the difference between the two is very subtle. Many references note however, that Amoxicillin is considered to be a slightly improved version of Penicillin for various reasons. So I discontinued taking Ciprofloxacin for a UTI about four weeks ago and since then I've been having some unusual problems. Such as thickness of throat feeling, slight shortness of breath, pressure behind eyeballs, random pains around my ear, ribcage pain, heartburn, upper abdominal pain, sharp pain near belly button, out of body feeling, and on and off sharp pains around my heart. Two days after I stopped the drug my heart was racing, my mouth became very dry and I was having pains around my heart. I went to the ER, was hooked up to an IV and was told I had Dehydration and High Blood Pressure. I found that very weird because prior to coming in I had drank five bottles of water that morning, was completley relaxed and I have never had a High Blood Pressure problem ever before. They...

Can I use cefadroxil in treatment of dental infection post dental procedure? ## Cefadroxil is commonly used as an antibiotic to prevent infection 'before' dental procedures. I'm not certain however about it's use 'post' dental procedure. You may want to confirm that with your doctor if you feel concerned. There's also the option of Amoxicillin, but I personally suggest looking into Clove Essential Oil. It's a natural remedy for dental issues as far as alleviating tooth aches (anaesthetic properties) and fighting infections (antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal properties).
