Had my moler pulled, feels like i have a lump there, should i be on antibiotics? ## Are you having any pain? Is there any puss present? An antibiotic is only necessary, if there is actually an infection present. If you aren't sure, then please consult your dentist, so they can check. An antibiotic isn't necessary just for a normal dental extraction and usually aren't prescribed, due to the danger of developing antibiotic resistance from improper use.

I have a tooth ache my dentist appoimment its not till September the 8th so can I take pentrexyl to help with the infection untill I see the dentist? ## I am not a doctor, so I cannot say if this is the best medication for you to take for this infection, but I'm sure it will help get the job done. It looks like Ampicillin is the active ingredient in this medication. Ampicillin has been used extensively to treat bacterial infections since 1961 according to my research. To learn more about Ampicillin, click on the link below... Although I personally suggest looking into Clove Essential Oil. my 6 yr old has an ear infection that wont go away. he has tried several antibiotics. i wld like to no of a good and strong antibiotic that he can use. ## This may be something to talk to your doctor about, given your son's age. I do know that Amoxicillin is commonly prescribed for ear infections, and in most cases it gets the job done. In combination with an antibiotic, I would recommend infusing garlic with unrefined organic olive oil and rubbing that on the infected ear. Also another natural remedy would be putting warmed up rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab and put it in the ear for roughly 15 minutes. A lot of people find this method to be very effective. Hope this helps!

Is there a substitute for this drug? I just paid 63.00 at the pharmacy for a 30 day supply. Can't afford that, is there another drug I could use that is very similar? ## Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic, it is used to treat infections. Have you tried asking your doctor for an alternative? What is the contraindication for SMZ-TMP? ## Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to trimethoprim or sulfonamides and in patients with documented megaloblastic anemia due to folate deficiency. Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim is also contraindicated in pregnant patients and nursing mothers, because sulfonamides pass the placenta and are excreted in the milk and may cause kernicterus. Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim is contraindicated in pediatric patients less than 2 months of age. Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim is also contraindicated in patients with marked hepatic damage or with severe renal insufficiency when renal function status cannot be monitored. What is the usual dosage for this med? Dr. gave a sample for the earache, but failed to tell the amount. ## Based on my research, dosage requirements for this medication can depend largely on what you are taking it for. However the "average" oral dose of Sulfamethoxazole (800 mg) + Trimethoprim (160 mg) DS (double strength) for an adult would be to take a pill every 12 hours for 10 to 14 days. Even if this is the average dosage for most conditions, it would probably still be best to confirm what your doctor recommends for YOU. This oral medication should be taken by mouth with a full glass of water or as directed by your doctor. You can view a detailed description of the drug by clicking on the link below... Please post back if you have any other questions or concerns about this...

My doctor prescribed Ciprofloxacn for a stomach infection, 500mg twice a day for 10 days. I am a runner, 64 years of age, and am concerned about possible tendentious, or other leg problems that could result. My question is, could this short of a dosage cause me serious leg problems that could cause me not to be able to run? ## There is really no way to say with any certainty. Some people can take it and never have a problem, but that type of side effect has happened to some people, even after just one or two doses. If you are that concerned about it, you should discuss it with your doctor and you may want to ask them about using a different antibiotic that may not be as risky. Are there any other questions or comments?

should a momen have to use this medication repeatedly for 6 months- Nitrofur 50 ## What has her doctor advised? Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic, it is most commonly used to treat urinary tract infections. If she is getting infections that frequently, or if it's the same one and the medication isn't clearing it up, her doctor should be running tests and trying a different antibiotic. If it's a UTI, she should also be taking her own preventative measures, such as making sure she drinks lots of water, avoiding tub baths and taking in probiotics. ## I have been taking omeprazole cr 40mg for 4 months.due to occuring uti my urologist put me on nitrofur mac 50mg is it ok to take both? thank you ## Lynn, I'm not finding any interactions or problems listed with using Nitrofuranto...

i have a bottle of penicilln v k 500mg tab sandoz my toung has been hurting i looked in the mirror and i see what looks like cuts just pass the tip of my toung this bottle is dated07-23-2009 is it ok to take it ## First of all, unless you have an active infection, this medication is not going to do anything to help. This is an antibiotic and it is important not to use them, when it isn't appropriate, because you run the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Second, this is even more of a danger, because this bottle of medication is outdate. The expiration date was 07-23-2010, after that, they start to lose their effectiveness and this creates an even bigger risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Have you seen a doctor to see what it causing this problem? It co...

Below is a link to Natrapharm who makes this product, Natravox, generic name Co-amoxiclav, and posts the details about the product. It's very good detail. I've been prescribed the product for lung infection and UTI. Within 24 hours results were seen but do the 7 days as with all antibiotics if you don't have any side effects.. I didn't have any side effects/issues and all things considered I'd prefer this product as my antibiotic. It's expensive compared to generics so consider the generic if you can get it in your area of the world. So it's sodium amoxicilin and the clav acid. The clav side is more of leg breaking (just an analogy not really legs) and not a strong penicillin. But I guess it's easier to take down your bug if it's legs have been remove...

How does this drug affect a person who is current taking Humira for RA? How long should a person be off Humira 40mg before taking Sulfameth/TMP DS Tab. Dosage 2 tablets twice daily. ## Have you discussed this with your doctor? There is really no specific time frame, the information just says to discontinue Humira for the time period you are taking antibiotics. It isn't that it causes a dangerous interaction, but that the Humira can make it harder for your body and the antibiotic to work and fight the infection. Some doctors will have their patients stop Humira, while taking antibiotics to fight infection, but some will just prescribe a higher dosage of the antibiotics.
