Hi, I have been taking purbac for about 3 years on and off now for my acne. As soon as my prescription ends I get horrible sore swollen pimples around my chin and mouth. I'm really battling with the purbac though as it makes me bloated. I've also started suffering with a lot of hamstring pain which I think may be related. What do I do now? Are there any over the counter meds or creamsI can use? ## What else has your doctor advised? Purbac contains Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim, it is an antibiotic prescribed under the name Bactrim in many countries. Being on it for so long means that there's the possibility of a rebound effect, when you stop taking it. If that's the case, it may just be a matter of waiting for it to process out of your body and clear up on its own. H...

Is macrobid or the generic ( Nitrofur Macr 100) be related to Sulfer or Penicillin? ## Although this is an antibiotic, It does not contain Sulfur, nor is it related to Penicillin. Due to sulfa allergies, it must be stated on a medication when it contains a sulfur-based ingredient. This antibiotic does have a lot of side effects however, so you may be experiencing one or more of these if you do have any symptoms. You can read more about this drug by clicking on the links below: I would suggest looking into the vast number of natural antibiotic alternatives (in the form of herbs, essential oils, and dietary changes) if you're not getting the results you're looking for from Nitrofurantoin. I hope this helps!
