I have been taking Nitro for 3 years bc of recurring UTI's. Gradually I have noticed my hair falling out and not growing back in; I can think of no cause; Before taking Nitro I had very thick hair; can it cause hair loss? ## I have taken two rounds of nitrofur-macr since May '11 for a stubborn UTI. Since May, I have started to notice hair loss and thinning. ## Yes, though it isn't common, hair loss can occur with this antibiotic, however, it is usually reversible, when someone finishes their course of treatment, or switches to a different medication. Have either one of you consulted your doctors? That is especially relevant to Janice, with recurrent UTIs like that, I'd say that this antibiotic isn't really eradicating all the bacteria, so you may need to try somethin...

do the side effects of the antibiotic smztmpds800 include anal itching? ## IT's not listed as a common side effect, but would probably be possible, since antibiotics can disturb the PH and natural bacterial balance of the body. Have you contacted your doctor to ask about this?

im poz, and 14 weeks pregnant,i have been taking purbac and truvata and Aluvia, and i been vomiting day and night, so i asked the other doctor if this is ok, so he said Purbac will bring complications to the baby, is it true? ## Purbac contains the active ingredients Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim and while they don't list the specific issues it can cause, yes, it does say that it is contraindicated during pregnancy and nursing, because it crosses the placenta to the baby and can pass into breast milk. What did the doctor advise you to do?

I BREASTFEED AND NOW I HAVE TO TAKE SULFAMETH/TMP TAB FOR A UTI BUT CAN MY BABY GET SICK OR EVEN WORSE CAUSE I KEEP TAKEN SULFAMETH? ## This is an interesting situation, because your doctor should have prescribed you something else (or at least went over the user guidelines) if he knew you were breastfeeding. The user guidelines for this medication note: Do not use Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim if you are pregnant. Try to prevent becoming pregnant while you are taking it. If you think you may be pregnant, contact your doctor right away. Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim is found in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking Sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim. Further indications state the following: The average milk levels obtained after trimethoprim 160 mg twice a day range from 1.8 to 2 mcg/...

I have a drug test coming up. I barely ever smoke but just did last week with a friend. I am taking Doxycycl for a tick byte and metopralol for BP. What can I do to help clean my system out by next week. I will never touch this crap again. the one time I do it, and a test comes up. Please help! ## You don't have to worry about the Doxycycline or Metoprolol if those are your prescription medications and you can show proof of that to the testing facility. If this was a "one time" smoke out (of Cannabis I presume?), then it can take about 5-8 days to be out of your system for a urine test. The quickest way to clean and detox your system in my opinion would be to consume plenty of fruits and vegetables while staying hydrated throughout the day. The more you pee clear the better ...

antibiotic related diarria and dyhydration treatment. Specially in case of clindamycin 150 mg. ## What has your doctor recommended? Saline solution may be used, in some cases, but usually these symptoms are of short duration, because they only last while you're taking the antibiotic and they don't really require treatment, unless they are severe. In most cases, someone can do quite well just by upping their fluid intake slightly, you may want to drink something like Gatorade that has electrolytes.

I have an upper ,cracked, decayed, piece of tooth that has been there awhile. I noticed that above the tooth was 2 whiteish spot on the gum. No pain yet, however... I am currently taking sulfamethox-tmp ds for uti. Question-- Will this also work for infected gum or not? I was given 10 tablets to take twice a day. Thanks :) ## It is an antibiotic, so it can also help with that, but it is really only going to last as long as your taking and possibly a week or so after. Since the problem that's causing the infection will still be there, it is highly likely that it will just recur. You should really see a dentist to get the problem resolved. It would be best to do it while you are on the antibiotic, or as soon as possible as you stop, because it more painful to have them remove the tooth,...

Can i take Penicillin VK with Sulfamethoxazole TMP DS? ## Has your doctor advised you to use them both? These are both antibiotics, just of different classes, so it is essentially doubling up on the same thing, which is only done in certain situations, due to the risk of developing antibiotic resistance. i was prescribed this for a vaginal bacteria infection. since i have been taking it i have experienced itching in this region and almost feels sensitive and swollen. is this normal? am i allergic? ## Unfortunately, while Doxycycline is an antibiotic that can treat bacterial infections, it can cause a fungal yeast infection, as a side effect. Thus, you should visit your doctor, again, because you will probably need an antifungal medication to treat that. Are there any other questions or comments?

will it help with stds or yeast infections PENICILINA-V ## Penicillin is an antibiotic, so yes, it is sometimes used to treat some STDs. A yeast infection, however, is fungal in origin and Penicillin is not effective against it and it can actually cause them to occur. This medication may also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Learn more: Are there any other questions or comments?

Large, about the size of my thumb, pill from Mexico. I'm pretty sure it is an antibiotic. Probably ciprofloxacin but I want to be sure. It was put in a contudol diclofenaco bottle because the pharmacy said it would not pass the boarder in the orginal bottle. It is scored on one side and no other markings (numbers or letters) ## The pharmacy didn't tell you what it was? Without any markings, it is going to be difficult to identify. Problems like this are just one of the hazards of buying medications from Mexico, there is also no way to be certain of their purity and safety.

What is the correct dosage of zithromyacin ## What type of infection is being treated? In most cases, Azithromycin is given in one dose of 500mgs the first day, then 250mgs for 6 additional days, but this can vary if the infection is very severe.

can taking AMOX TR K CLV 875-125 MG twice a day make one nervious and jumpy? ## Those aren't normal side effects of this antibiotic, but it is difficult to say how any medication will affect any given person. Have you talked to your doctor about it? It just may not be the right medication for you to use. Are you taking anything else, at the same time? ## Some common side effects of Amoxicillin include an upset stomach, vomiting, and diarrhea. Other side effects can include excessive tiredness and a lack of energy. I would imagine that one or more of these symptoms can induce a feeling of anxiety or giddiness if the effects are truly overwhelming. There aren't however any mentions of the drug having side effects of nervousness or jumpiness per say. This doesn't necessarily me...

does methadose cut the effectiveness of azithromycin or does Azithromycin cut the effectiveness of methadone? ## Neither, the listed reaction between them has nothing to do with reduced effectiveness. It's actually due to the fact that taking them together increases the risk of prolongation of the QT interval and cardiac arrhythmias. Are there any other questions or comments?

hi there my two year old son was given sulfamethoxazole+trimethoprim su...40mg for a ear infection and he has to be on this for 1 month is this ok for him to be on this for that long and he has had some breathing problems 10 day after using this. is this normal? ## Have you consulted his doctor? No, it generally isn't used that long, but they may have decided it was necessary if the infection was very severe. And, if he's having breathing problems, you should definitely consult the doctor to see what's causing them.

Can I take Mylan 3422 for my absessed tooth? ## What has your dentist advised? This contains 100mgs of Nitrofurantoin, which is an antibiotic, but is not usually the first choice for a dental infection. And, if it does help, it would only be temporary, because whatever is causing the tooth to become infection needs to be addressed and corrected, or it will just return.
