Is sporidex effective for treating UTI in children? ## Based on my research, Sporidex (Cephalexin) is said to be an antibiotic with a well tolerated side effect profile. Although it is commonly used for urinary-tract infections, I haven't found any claims stating "how safe or effective" it may be for small children under a certain age. I suppose this answer could be different for everyone of any age though, since body chemistry and biological age varies so greatly on a personal basis. I was prescribed Bactrim because of an upcoming biopsy. Funny thing, my legs have been hurting for years, hard to even sit sometimes, and I walk with a limp. After a week on Bactrim these symptoms went away. I sure would like to know why. Three days after finishing the prescription the pain came back. ## That is very unusual, since it is a sulfur based antibiotic, it's most often known to cause the exact opposite and cause pain in people that are sensitive or allergic to it. I am getting pain in my kidneys and heartburn taking the pill , dox-cyl hycl 100mg blue pill. Is that a common side affect and what should I drink or eat to take the pain away? ## Are you taking it on an empty stomach? It may help to take it with a light meal, but milk should be avoided, because it can decrease how much of the medication is absorbed. Does smz/tmp ds 800-160 come in a smaller pill? my 92 year old mom take one tab daily as a preventative because she self caths due to inability to urinate. But she is starting to have trouble getting that pill down. Looking for a smaller pill that will be easier for her to swallow. ## I'm afraid all the ones I've seen are about the same size. However, it is not a time released tablet, so you could just cut or break them in half for her to make them easier to swallow. Thus, she could just swallow two halves, or 3 thirds, whatever size makes it easier for her to swallow. You can learn more Bactrim details here. I have been diagnosed with a kidney stone of 1cm in the rt.upper uretar. I was advised SWNL procedure and now even after 4 days I continue to be in agony with the same kind of dull pain. The medicines suggested post procedure:1. Zenflox 200 mg twice daily,2.Enzocort 6mg twice daily alongwith Lasilactone, Veltam n Deverin 80 mg. I am an old patient of gastritis.Is it possible that the antibiotics applied and the steroid prescribed is causing this stomach disturbance. I have been on Doxycycl for 3 days. I am also on Metronidazole vaginal for a bacterial infection. Took last night for the first time. Today I have a mucousy like discharge. It is always possible to get a yeast infection from an antibiotic and the Doxycycline is no exception. However, if you used the vaginal Metronidazole, the discharge could be from it, it is normal for some of it to be expelled by your body and not all of it to be used. A child spcialist has precribed Ofloxacin Suspension (Xintof) for my 2 yrs. Dr said i've been infected with gastro-entritis with colic. so he prescribed me with spasmomen, conaz and emetrex. but after i took the medicine as recommended, i got a very severe headache. ## This drug is in the class of antibiotics known as the Quinolone Antibiotics. One of the actions of this class of antibiotics is to cause Magnesium Depletion. This depletion of magnesium can lead to headaches as a common side effect. However, you cannot take magnesium while taking these drugs in order to alleviate the headache. You will inactivate the drug and cause it not to work. A better choice would be to contact your doctor and get onto a drug that is in a different class of antibiotics that does not cause you headaches.

i want to know about moxifloxacin and its side effects during pregnancy ## Moxifloxacin, also called Avelox, is in a class of drugs known as the Quinolone antibiotics. Avelox Side Effects include such serious problems as damage to tendons, joints and muscles. These side effects can be so serious that they do not allow the use of them for children that are not fully grown yet due to the possibility of damage to the unformed bone and cartilage in children. These antibiotics also leach magnesium from the body, a serious problem for pregnant women that can lead to a condition known as toxemia of pregnancy that is quite dangerous. Could taking levaquin possibly have caused my arthritis to flare up worse than it ever has? ## After looking at all the possible side effects associated with Levaquin (Levofloxacin), I think there is a high chance that it did cause your arthritis to flare up. Since I have been taking this drug I have had a horrible backache. It was prescribed for a sinus infection. ## Ciprofloxacin has many side effects; some which are mild and some that are serious, but rarely occur. My thirteen year old son(140 lbs) had a strong bacterial infection involving his salivary glands. His face was very swollen. In order to avoid hospitalization(IV), the doctor prescribed avalox. He finished it 2 days ago. When is it safe to return to bball(his passion) w/out risk to his tendons?This is his life and he is distraught. my wife's doctor prescribed avalox for a kidney infection, pending results of urine c&s ... any rationale to support that choice? ## nothing ## Yes, there is plenty of evidence to support using Avelox for a UTI, however there are a LOT safer choices for a UTI than Avelox. Avelox Side Effects, while rare, can be absolutely devastating and can cause lifelong disabilities. Personally, with what I know about Quinolone Antibiotics, the class of drugs that Avelox is in, I would never use them for anything but a life threatening infection where there was no other alternative. The side effects are too disastrous to use these drugs for a common infection with so many alternative drugs.

is avelox 400mg and acid reducer safe to take together ## Both Avelox and Acid Reducers can reduce magnesium levels in the body. Many of the rare but dangerous Avelox Side Effects are due to reducing the levels of magnesium in the body, and thus taking them with acid reducers can increase the chances of these side effects.
