Moxifloxacin, also called Avelox, is in a class of drugs known as the Quinolone antibiotics. Avelox Side Effects include such serious problems as damage to tendons, joints and muscles. These side effects can be so serious that they do not allow the use of them for children that are not fully grown yet due to the possibility of damage to the unformed bone and cartilage in children.
These antibiotics also leach magnesium from the body, a serious problem for pregnant women that can lead to a condition known as toxemia of pregnancy that is quite dangerous.
Because of these problems and the fact that there are less dangerous antibiotics for most infections, I would refrain from using Moxifloxacin in pregnancy and ask your doctor if there is a safer antibiotic for you to use.
