I was prescribed bactrim or moderate acne and have been on the generic form sulfameth/trimethoprim 800/160 once daily for 5-6 weeks and have seen little to no results. Anyone know time line for this stuff to start working? I've been on keflax, ampicillin with success but I recall those working faster. No side effects but no success either, any advice?? ## From what I've found when researching this, results should start to be seen at about 6 weeks of use. Im taking sulfameth trimethoprim 800-160 for an infection on my face that went into my lynph nodes. After taking only 2 pills my top lip became swollen with a rash on the inside and blisters on the bottom of my tongue. I stopped taking them for 4 days. I took one today because the infection wasnt going away. Now, my tongue feels like needles are going through it for the past 5 hours. It's now going into my gums and lips. I took one dose of Acticlate as indicated by my dermatologist. I experienced side effects of tummy rumbles, pain from the navel up, sinus headache, & general malaise; shoulders hurt, back hurts. My daughter has just been prescribed 8ml of clindamycin palmitate 3 times a day for 7 days. She has been fighting ear infections, sinus infections and upper respiratory infections for the past 4 months. She has been on amoxicillin, Augmentin, septra and cefdinir and neither of these have worked. I took her to an ENT last week and recommended we remove her tonsils and adenoids and have ear tubes put in. She is scheduled for 3/11 however she is still running a fever off and on and has a slight cough so that is why he gave her clindamycin.
