I have a gum infection from a tooth that needs to come out, I have no coverage for eyes and dental, the only antibiotic I have in the house is from my lady's stone removal ## Hello, Willie! How are you? Yes, antibiotics just eradicate bacteria, they are not gender specific. However, it would be best to see your doctor and let them prescribe an appropriate antibiotic. Any doctor can do so, it doesn't have to be a dentist. The FDA lists the typical side effects of an antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was recently prescribed Bactrim for a badder infection which I've taken before. For some reason every time I take this medication I get an ulcer inside my mouth. Is this a side effect or an allergic reaction? ## Hello, Sophia! How are you doing? Have you consulted your doctor? Antibiotics can cause yeast infections, as a side effect, so that may be what's causing the sores in your mouth. It would be best to have it checked out, as if it is a yeast infection, it will need treatment. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

SORE THROAT SO BAD THAT I SPIT BLOOD WHEN I CLEAR MY THROAT. ## I have a very bad sore throat and need to know which antibiotic, amoxicilina or ampicilina, is best to treat this sore throat. ## Both Amoxicillin and Ampicillin can be used to treat infections, however, it is very important to be certain that it is being caused by an infection of some type. If the sore throat has been caused by something like a virus, allergies, just being hoarse or a myriad of other things, then antibiotics will not help. In addition, if you use them inappropriately you run the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Have you consulted a doctor, yet? ## dry hacking cough/sinus problem ## I am having dry cough from past 5 days. I am using ciprodac 500 (ciprofloxacin) and Leekug-SG. please suggest...

My 6 month old cat got ahold of one of my wife's 500 mg cephalexin pill, I had noticed him playing with it and chased him down to grab it, by the time I got it it was pretty chewed up and no powder was left on it, should I call a vet right away? I know cephalexin is prescribed in both humans and animals but not sure the amount he injested. Thanks ## Hello, Jeremy! How is your cat? Did he suffer any adverse effects? Even a cat, however, can't really overdose on an antibiotic, unless he was allergic or ate quite a few of the tablets. He may experience more side effects, though, such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness and diarrhea. Did you consult your veterinarian?

How are you? No, the FDA classifies this medication as an antibiotic and it will only treat bacterial infections. It will do nothing to help with hair loss. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Additionally, improper use creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria, which could be dangerous in the future. What type of doctor did you consult?

I was on antibiotic for sore throat and ear infection and developed a yeast infection with the itching can Bactrim DS 800-160 be used to treat it, and if not what can I use? ## Hello, Suga! How are you? No, Bactrim is another antibiotic, so it can actually cause a yeast infection as a side effect. The FDA lists its other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. To clear up a yeast infection, you need an antifungal medication. There are several available over the counter, but if you've never had one before, you should see your doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment protocol. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have a question. I've been on bactrim DS for 6 days now, and I've felt super drowsy, m...

Are the ones with the "X's" on themm the same thing?? ## Hello, TJ! How are you? What many people refer to as an x is actually meant to be a z that is stylized to look like the pharmaceutical symbol of a mortar and pestle, is that what is on yours? It is manufactured by Teva Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 100mgs of Doxycycline. The FDA classifies this medication as an antibiotic and lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

Can i stop taking it or can i take another medication.?Also let me know if I can break the tablet in food. Im very bad at swolling pills i hate it. ## Hello, Vivi! How are you? I'm sorry that you're so miserable. Those are normal side effects of this medication, as listed by the FDA and you should continue taking it, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. Taking it with food can sometimes help prevent the stomach pain and nausea. Other side effects may include dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. And yes, you can break them, if necessary, as long as you take the whole tablet. Is there anything else I can help with?

Horrible med taken for diverticulitis. 2 Mos after 825 mgs, 2 x daily, 10 day dosage: all orig side effects remain with increased intensity: burning skin/rashes, sensitivity to light/sun, severe arthritis in hands/feet, myalgia, urination frequency, unbearable back pain. The med/pharmacy community nows little about this or professing not to. My life before augmentin bears no resemblance to now. I cannot perform my daily activities .. disgusting. Have turned to acupuncture for relief .. plan to file a complaint against this med with any government agency applicable. NEVER TAKE THIS DRUG! IT MAY ROB YOU OF THE LIFE KNOWN BEFORE TAKING IT!

Hi, on Saturday I woke up with a fever of 100.6. I decided to go to minute clinic because my primary doctor was not open on the weekend. The nurse practitioner there checked me and told me I have fever and a very small bladder infection. Because it was small, she sent it out to see if it would grow. She prescribed me ciprofloxacin which really messed up my stomach. So I called and she gave me a new prescription which was sulfamethoxazole which also took a toll on my stomach too so I stopped the medication. I have been off it for a day and I'm still having really watery diarrhea. It does not stop since I've taken the first pill of ciprofloxacin. How long does it take until I get back to normal? I have no fever, and the nurse practitioner called back and said I had no bladder infe...

I already have diarrhea dur to previous c diificile infection . My doctor has prescribed microbid which I not very keen o take. Since I feel it will worsen my situation. What should I do? ## Hello, Jam! How are you? Diarrhea can be a side effect of antibiotics, along with nausea, dizziness, headache and non-allergic skin rash, as listed by the FDA. However, C. Difficile can be deadly, if you let it continue untreated. Your doctor would not have prescribed it, if they though there was a dangerous risk to you. How long will you be taking it?

I am taking DOXYCYCLINE HYCLATE it says one pill twice a day for ten days, but what would happen if I took three a day instead l? ## Hello, MermaidGirl! How are you? This is an antibiotic, so the amount in your body needs to remain consistent for the duration of treatment, in order to eradicate the bacteria. Thus, you should take it twice a day, as prescribed. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hey how long will it take for cipro to actually work? ## Hello, Bree! How are you? The general rule for antibiotics is that if they are working, you shouldn't see any worsening of your condition, after being on it for a full 24 hours and you should start to see improvement after taking it for a full 3 days. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?
