I have developed a rash which has moved to different parts of my body until I itched all over. Dermatologist prescribed strong prednisone cream which made rash leave for about two weeks. now it's back and she thinks oxybutnin is the cause as it's the last new medication given to me. Has anyone else had a bad rash while on oxybutnin? It's a flat red rash which itches plus development of skin tags. ## From the detailed medication information, it has been known to cause these types of rashes in 2 to 5% of patients that use it. Have you consulted your doctor about switching to a different medication?

I felt dizzy and my doctor said I have excess fluid behind right ear. I was given prednisone. The next morning I cant walk, no balance, I have to hold on to something to walk. I spoke with my doctor and she said that this is normal. Is it? ## Your doctor should have told you that you had vertigo and that prednisone can sometimes help. The side effects you were experiencing are created by vertigo, which can be quite nasty. Your equilibrium is messed up, you go one way and your body goes the other way. In Canada we have only one drug that is allowed in to treat vertigo and that is called Serc. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. Doctors have started small doses of prednisone to counter act the vertigo. I don't know if the results are positive or not. ## Hi I was given predni...

How well does this work for extreme back pain and bulging discs? ## Magnesium Salicylate is an analgesic and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that is commonly used to treat various painful conditions. However, there is really no way to say whether or not it will be effective for any given person that is taking it. The only way to see if it will help you is by following your doctor's instructions and trying it. You can learn more about it here: Are there any other questions or comments?

It is a small round white pill with 93 on one side and 5337 on the other. ## I was unable to locate a match for the imprint "93 5337", but I did however find a match for "93 537". Is there any chance that you may have misread the marking? (93 537 also fits your physical description of the pill, other than the fact that it is oval shaped as opposed to a circle/round). Does this still sound like a possible match? If so, it is identified as being Naproxen sodium (550mg). This is an anti-inflammatory medication used to help moderate to severe pain, fever, inflammation and stiffness. More info about this drug can be viewed in the link below: I hope this helps!

My grandson will turn 16 in February. He is 6' tall and weights 220 lbs. He takes Vyvanse for ADHD. Another doctor prescribed Naprelan to help heal a elbow injury. Is it safe to take both of these drugs? ## There are no interactions listed between taking them both, but you should check with a doctor, or pharmacist to be certain. The Naprelan contains the active ingredient Naproxen, so it doesn't actually help heal and injury, it is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that can help with pain and swelling that has been caused by the injury. I have been tested for lupus an ANA test came back positive. In the mean time I hurt my back, they gave me methylprednisone. They want to retest for the lupus but I don't want to take the blood test with prednisone in my system. ## Is there some reason you're concerned about the Prednisone affecting the test? Some drugs may do so, but if they know you are taking it, then should know the proper way to do the tests and interpret them accordingly. Prednisone actually has a very short half-life, it only ranges from 1 to 3 hours and the full time for most medications is usually 5 to 6 half-lives, so you're looking at anywhere from 5 to 18 hours. ## wHAT IS THE difference betwene methylprednisolone and prednisone?

I am a 35 year old man. I desperately need some advice. Hopefully from someone who's been through this. I have a CAT scan tomorrow and I had an allergic reaction to contrast iodine. One side of my face became swollen. I told my doctor and they prescribed Medrol(the generic) for me to take to prepare my body from having an allergic reaction. I'm supposed to take 8 tablets(4mg each) 12 hours and then another 8 two hours before injection. I'm really terrified of taking so many and the side effects it might have on my body. I'm aware of the side effects, but to take such a heavy does scares me. The pharmacist, nurse and doctor tell me that it's a standard dosage for what I need and that It might be rough on my stomach and get me wired/jittery for a couple of days. The &#...

I take hydrocodone-apap (10-325) half dose for back muscle spasms. Too much acts as a stimulant and results in insomnia. I discovered that combined with Aleve (1 pill) that I obtained entire relief. Unfortunately, I am stomach sensitive to NSAIDs. Do you have any suggestions for an anti-inflammatory that is not stomach sensitive? Acetamedaphine (Motrin) does not work. Thanks. ## No, by their very nature, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications cause excess stomach acid, so all of them can cause stomach irritation. Have you discussed it with your doctor? Some people do well using a medication that helps reduce stomach acid, such a proton pump inhibitor, or straight antacid, when taking NSAIDs. And Motrin does not contain Acetaminophen, the active ingredient in Motrin is actually Ibupr...

so i have a mild form of crohns started with just diarrhea and abdominal discomfort on right side. i started taking pentasa 2 pills 4 times a day for the first few months in january and it was working great bowel movements were normal and pain went away. since may i started having the abdominal discomfort on and off. don't know if i should change my medicine or what ## Have you consulted your doctor? They are really the one person qualified to help you discover if a medication adjustment, or different medication would be necessary. In addition, are you also watching your diet? It is a necessity for someone with Crohn's, because they medications can't possibly keep everything under control if you just eat whatever you like.

pills expired in 2008- are they still good to treat poison oak in August 2011 ## Certain drugs are actually okay to take after expiration, whereas others such as antibiotics can become toxic. My personal assumption is that it lost a good percentage of its potency by now, having been 3-4 years old. I would also check with your doctor or pharmacy to make sure that you're using the most effective treatment option for poison oak. It may still be effective, but not nearly as potent. It's also impossible to give a direct answer to this question, since each medication can effect people differently. We all know that it's better to avoid the expired drugs and stay on the safe side, but unfortunately, the only way to find out is to actually try it. I wouldn't suggest taking that r...

Found these pills in my new apt. Was wondering what they were and why they would have been left by the previous renters. Any ideas ## Hi Kevin, Unfortunately I couldn't find an exact match to your description. The closest match being "MP 51", whereas the "M" and "P" are somewhat fused together. This pill is also white and round, and has been identified as Prednisone (5 mg). I cannot post a picture due to copyright reasons, however, if you type "pill MP 51" into google images, you'll see the pill I'm referring to. Prednisone is a synthetic corticosteroid drug that is particularly effective as an immunosuppressant, and affects virtually all of the immune system. It is used to treat certain inflammatory diseases and (at higher doses) cancers, but...
