If a prescription expired can you still take them ## I'm not not an MD so I cannot say whether or not it is still safe to consume an expired pill, but my opinion is that you should take caution as to how long it has been expired for. I personally wouldn't take it if it is more than a week expired, because not only would the ingredients degrade over time and not be as effective, but perhaps in some medications the chemical makeup may be altered over the years and there's always a greater risk of unwanted side effects that are associated with that. My advice is to play it safe and just let it go. ## Can I take guaifenesin if it expired Oct 2015. Would it help me out with the mucous

Updated in SalbutamolI have cough variant asthma and must take tussionex. I was happy about the generic until I tried it. The suspension is not right. A lot of it winds up dried in useless chunks on the side of the bottle. Also, of secondary concern, it tastes and smells bad. I took my prescription to be filled and they only have half. When I picked up the second half, I was greeted by the bad smell when I opened it (at home, days later). I think this second half is the generic mixed with some reall tussionex. It's scaling on the side of the bottle now. So, this tells me it's the generic. The generic does not take care of the coughing. But, I paid extra to get namebrand. It seems to me, if that is what I bought that is what I would get. What can I do? ## The only thing you can really do this point w...

I have a bottle of Dia-quel in my medicine cabinet. Contains tincture of opium, homatropine methylbromide, and pectin. For diarhea. I can't find any info on it. What is it? Is it an antique? Safe to take? ## Dear Donna, I looked up Diaquel 4 u. It says it's a benzodiazepine derivative tranquilizer. It provides anticonvulsant, central muscle relaxant effect. I hope this helps. ## The details I've come across also state that Diaquel is a benzodiazepine class drug (more commonly known as Diazepam). Although from reading your description it sounds like you probably have a different product altogether. Do you know where the medication originated from or who might've manufactured it? Perhaps that'll give us some more clues to work with as we continue to search for relevant...
FOUND A PILL IN SONS ROOM LITTLE ROUND YELLOW WITH 44 OVER194 DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT IT IS? ## pill found with 44 over 194 ## This is an allergy pill. I have some that say the same thing and they are actually Walgreens brand of allergy tablets. If you have a Walgreens near you then you can actually look for Wal-finate and it will show the pill on the bottle. I have severe allergies and it is the only thing that helps. ## For anyone else looking, Lisa's information is correct, this is an over the counter allergy medication, though it may not necessarily be found just in Walgreens, it is carried by several stores as their store brand or generic. It contains 4mgs of Chlorpheniramine, which is an antihistamine and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and drowsi...
I am having a hard time finding the generic equivalent of Allegra D either 12 or 24 HR at any pharmacy in Wisconsin. Is there some kind of recall or something? Unfortunately I can't try the other generics due to a dairy allergy and most other types have dairy in them.
Updated in AllegraThis is similar to benadryl or vistaril. It's an older drug and been around a long time like benadryl. It will make u sleepy. It won't cure scabies but it'll help u not to scratch the bumps. Scabies are micro bugs that are kinda like mini ticks that burrow under the skin a suck blood. Be sure u treat all your clothes, furniture, car seats, and bedding. If u don't they'll just infest your home and u. The med will help with the itch only! Good luck getting rid of your little blood suckers...... No these are not benzodiazepines, they're antihistamines!!!! ## Hello, Katz and thank you for your helpful post! To add some additional information, the tablet in question is manufactured by Heritage Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 25mgs of Hydroxyzine. The FD...

A 14 yr old boy has taken only one dose of Zempred 8mg for a severe allergy on his face & arms (rash which is red, itchy and sandpaper like) in combination with Fluticort ointment. Is it fine to discontinue the pill and have a non steroidal med instead as I'm afraid of giving him a steroid since he's asthmatic too? Will stopping the medicine after only one pill of Zempred cause further harm?
UpdatedPlz can anybody tell me if I can use periactin for increasing my body weight, also to particularly gain mass on my face? I was suffering from a kidney stone and sometimes I feel a little pain on both of my sides. Plz reply to me. Is periactin safe for me? ## Periactin contains the active ingredient Cyproheptadine, it is an antihistamine. And yes, it can help stimulate someone's appetite, but if you do put on weight, there is no way to target it to your face or any other body part. It is really not safe to just randomly use a medication to try to gain weight, unless your doctor has specifically instructed you to do so. If you have kidney stones, you also need to be careful, because some medications can make them worse. Your best bet to try and gain weight is by eating a healthy diet ...
