I am taking a VERY low dose of naltrexone for an addiction to k8 dillaudids, and other various opiates. I have the 50mg tablets. I quarter the tablet so really only taking 12.5 mg of the naltroxene at a time. My question is this. I didn't dose at all yesterday, but this morning I took the 12.5 mg quarter of naltoxene. If I use dillaudid today will I feel the effects? ## Hi Jewels, Based on my research, the half life of naltrexone is reported to be 4 hours and its active metabolite "6 beta-naltrexol" is listed at 13 hours. This means if you had 12.5mgs, after 4 hours half of that (6.3mgs) will have passed through your system, and then half of that half (3.2mgs) and so forth (not including the active metabolite). I'm not going to get into all the mathematics though, becaus...

Can you be prescribed medical cannabis to ease the muscle pains and stomach cramps in conjunction with Naltrexone? ## I a a big coward when it comes to pain, and I am starting to feel the withdrawals from Methadone and slowly dropping the amount of diazepam I get.I feel awful . Sore muscles ,can't sleep ,feel sick ,and I spend up to 8hrs a day on the toilet .And because I feel ill all the time , I am getting majorly depressed .I know I'll be a bit healthier at the end ,but due to the pain ,I'm beginning to think it's not worth it .(the pain) .The diazepam decrease is worrying ,as the last time the dr's tried to take me off,I developed spasticity in all my muscle ,especially my neck ,I am not kidding, the 'twitching' in my neck was so bad I had to go to hospita...

Will naltrexone help with stop smoking and obesety (food cravings) ## Hi Dan, The answer to your question would be no; reason being is that Naltrexone is an opioid receptor antagonist used primarily in the management of alcohol dependence and opioid dependence (not for smoking and obesity). "The Chicago Stop Smoking Research Project at the University of Chicago found that Naltrexone did not help improve study subjects to quit smoking any better than a placebo would." This information is referenced from the link below, where you can also find more details on the drug: I hope this helps! ## Hi, I have never heard of naltrexone being used for food cravings. I am taking it to combat alcoholism, and one side effect I've noticed in me is that I no longer desire junk food, or eatin...

I used Refusal very successful in Holland, now I am in Bosnia where they only have Esperal. Good luck, alcoholism is a very difficult disease. Be careful with implant, I heard it really has risks. But better then drinking! Ronald ## Hi Ronald, You're absolutely right about alcoholism being a difficult disease to kick out of habit. However, I've heard that this type of treatment can be a real success for many people. I haven't actually seen any medications by the name of "Refusal" listed on the web, but that could be because I'm located here in the US and not EU. Apparently Esperal (disulfiram) works by creating what most drinkers would consider to be an unpleasant reaction to alcohol, eventually lessening one's desire to continue drinking. It's supposed t...

Hi. I'm concerned about my brother. He has been on Naltrexone now (again) for a H addiction. He's been doing great but today lots of signs pointed to him decieving us again and I'm sure he was affected by something when he returned to the party we were at after he disappeared (for an hour) to get smokes. I'm sure his pupils were constricted and he was sweating a couple of hours later (it wasn't hot here by the way). His wife watches him take his naltrexone every night before bed and is sure he doesn't spit it out. What other drugs could he still be using? We were hoping naltrexone would cancel out everything :( ## Suboxone 8mg or subutex 8mg analgesic works by blocking the Nero receptors the same way. I have had 3 conssecutive disulfiram implants whitch had a great pshycological effect. I did not drink for these 3, 3 month periods. One day after my fourth implant, something overwhelmingly upset me and I turned to the bottle only to discover I had no known side-effects. That was yesterday. Today I am drinking again. I'm not sure what to make of this. In the beginning I truly believed this is the answer. Now I'm not sure if my doctor is pulling the wool over my eyes or if for some reason my liver still manages to perform its usual duty whilest on treatment. Is there a proffesional that can please shed some light on this? The lives of many depend on my recovery. Thank you kindly

I found a small round pill, off-white, almost tan in color. One side is blank and the other side is scored, with EL on top and 15 on the bottom. Can't seem to identify this anywhere. ## Hello, Jack! How are you? I haven't been able to find a listing for anything matching this description, either. What is your general location? If it's an over the counter product, some of them are regional, so that may help to narrow it down. I'll keep looking and post back, when I have information for you. Does anyone else recognize this tablet? ## That is generic Naltrexone, used as an opiate antagonist for those trying to recover from drug or alcohol abuse. The chemical deters the use of opiates or alcohol by binding to opiate receptors in the brain and prevents one from feeling the fu...

I need your help. please. ## This contains the active ingredient Disulfiram and it's used to make someone super sensitive to alcohol, so if they drink even a little, they get very ill. will Trexone help alcoholism ## Hi John, Did you mean to say Naltrexone by chance? This medication is actually listed in a class of drugs known as opioid receptor antagonists. It's primarily used as a treatment for managing both alcohol and opioid dependence. Apparently it works by reducing the pleasurable effects that alcohol would normally have on someone; making consumption less desirable I'd imagine. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Naltrexone Details Is this something your doctor had recommended?

History: today is 3rd day of use, 50g/once a day. Used for opiate dependence, 7 days after last dose of Suboxone. No other symptoms but moderate/strong stomach pains. Some sleeplessness. Any remedies? Other folks experience? Does it go away? Most sites say should not be a side effect for more than a "few days". ## Suboxone has a long half-life. The symptoms you are experiencing at seven days post last usage are most likely withdraw from Suboxone. Some patients do experience some GI disturbance when first starting naltrexone but, they should pass in a week or less. If the symptoms dont go away by that time consult your health care professional. I hope that helps.

Would like to know anyone's comments relative to the effectiveness of this drug. ## I relapsed severely after 8 years sobriety I started taking it in the hospital and for the last 90 days. It has really helped me. I do not have any cravings and thoughts are fleeting. I have not felt this good in years. The worse side effect for me was gastric distress so I have cut down to 2 doses a day but still seems to be working fine. ## The use of campral has unfortunately not dimished my cravings. The only effect that I noticed was fatigue and prolonged periods of sleep, more than 10 hours a night. ## THIS STUFF WAS A GODSEND. AFTER DRINKING 24/7 FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS I NO LONGER HAVE THE CRAVING AND THE PHYSICAL WITHDRAWELS WERE MINIMUM. CAMPRAL SAVED MY LIFE ## I started taking Campral after too...

How are you? No, that is not a sign of an illness, that just means you're sleeping with your mouth open. As to the mouth dryness, what has changed in your life recently? Are you on any medications? Do you drink a lot of alcoholic beverages? Do you smoke a lot?

My son is an ex H addict turned alcoholic who was diagnosed with MS. He was given this drug as one of the many pills he takes. He abuses her meds, terribly. Lately besides him seeming like he is "high" he is having episodes where he is hallucinating...talking to dead people, imagining people are at his house and trying to rob him..and so on. Lately he sleeps all day and is up all night. We went to his apartment and it looked trashed and he was in such a deep sleep we thought he was dead. those pills were spilled all over the place. Will these "episodes" come from abusing these IP 102 pills or should I be worried about something else. i have used ant abuse for 5 years and am now told it has been discontinued what can i do ## From what I've read, Antabuse (Disulfiram) has been discontinued in Canada as well as some other countries, due to a lack of demand. You could try contacting the manufacturer about putting it back on the market, and encourage others to do so as well. The more demands they get, the more they'll probably be more apt to reconsidering its production once more. Unfortunately there's not much else you can do in situations like this, other than asking your doctor about other similar alternatives for your condition. It certainly shouldn't be the only drug of its class out on the market, is it?

what is the side effect of dizone tablet bedause my husband is alcohalic & i am giving this tablet he is also a lege enjury compound fracture in leg & surgery is happen 2 months before with a indian plate. ## Dizone contains Disulfiram, which makes someone acutely sensitive to alcohol. In most cases, if they try to drink, they will get severely drunk and ill after just one or 2 drinks containing alcohol. In many cases, the medication is continued for awhile, even after the person has stopped drinking, just to ensure that the behavior will not start up, again. Learn more Disulfiram information here.
