Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 5)

I have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?

Hi, Emmy! I like Barr IR 5mg. I find that if I don't eat or drink enough water I am prone to feeling agitated. I drink a lot of coffee too, but think if I added a caffeine pill it would overstimulate me personally and I would be very agitated. The only name brand IR is manufactured by Teva. Shire still makes XR name brand. If you scroll down to my previous comments you can find my thoughts on that. A stimulant med that is working for ADD should make you feel "calm" (even sleepy at too low of a dose). The calm though is really just the focus you receive from the dopamine and a person with ADD is so used to the racing thoughts and topics. If the dose is too high then it makes my ADD worse. That's how I can gauge my Therapuetic level. Switching manufacturers though in my experience is not great to do. It takes me about 3 weeks to readjust to the different med and then it's about time for a refill. I have had the most pleasant experiences with the Barr 5mg. It motivates me in the sense that I don't feel overwhelmed at the idea of doing something simple like going to the store (because I'm thinking so far ahead in my planning that I decide it is all too much for me to think about right now, and then I procrastinate and end up accomplishing nothing). It takes away my constant tiredness, and I am able to be more spontaneous- go with the flow. I don't even notice I am on meds, and feel amazed that this must be how normal people feel everyday. I eat regularly, and get tired at the appropriate time. That is what works for me personally!

It's crazy to me how much problems adderall causes people! I've taken all brands except the original shire instant release!! And honestly I can say they are all really similar if your writing a complain about adderall that's very detailed and seems extremely well written and took lots of concentration I'm pretty sure your adderalls working! People with adhd have problems listening and paying attention this drug won't make you extremely motivated or give you crazy energy everyone one seeks lol the longer your on it the less effective it is or at least you think it is! What I find funny is that some people have been on this s*** for so long they forget how they feel or who they are off the drug and when they have even just a little bit of anxiety they blow up like crazy either in forums or in person! I like adderall because it feels clean all these generics will have up to 125% of the active to about 80% of the active ingredients! Ok well if you feel you got 80 take another half of a tab! For the longest time just reading these types of forums I developed a retarded mindset and way of thinking! I thought oh s*** this month corepharmas crap omg now teva/bars bad even to a point were Sandoz doesn't work for me now! But in reality it was working the whole time I just let my anxiety and others opinions f*** up my experience on adderall and even tho the drugs working because I'm awake and feel good I let my own anxiety based on others and rumors mess with my head lol forget reading these forums take your med wait a while and drink lots of water! When I first took Addies everything worked until I started reading these forums it's all in your head believe me don't get so worked up thinking it's not working and then end up writing a five page essay on how my Addies not working based on brand and hours of research you did while your on your adderall that doesn't work lmfao overcome the phsych n anxiety of addies and you'll be fine! Im venting write now while on corepharma even tho it don't lol I use a different brand every month they all work being gullible is easy on adderall and so is freaking out!.

Teva and Barr are the same company with different names. The real manufacturer according to an FDA site is a huge pharmaceutical from Europe that makes the adderall in North Carolina.

Well, Jay Smood, I have sensitivities to different generics whether it is naproxen or amphetamine salts. Just because I am well spoken and know the difference between "you're" and "your", or the difference between "right" and "write", doesn't mean sh*t except that I have a better grasp at written grammar than you do. I will assume that your message is directed at me since the only other long winded comments were written a few years ago. If you are so curious, and you have read my commentary than you will see that I have found the generic that works for me through my trials and tribulations. I would also like to note that being very self aware internally and externally is what brought me to find any forums in the first place. Feeling different things and noticing patterns is what prompted my curious in the first place to see if any others have experienced similar going ons. I am offended by your assumption that people with ADD cannot sit and write a paragraph without the help of stimulant medication. Not every person with ADD is going to have the same advantages or disadvantages as you personally, (the ability to sit and write out a paragraph regarding something of interest to them along with sharing what they have experienced and learned as they went along just incase it can maybe help someone else that is looking for a little guidance on their personal journey).
I am so happy for you that you are able to take different generics each month and feel that it works. You might want to discuss anger issues though with your doctor. Maybe you're on too high of a dosage, or else maybe the different dyes and junk fillers in each month's different prescription is effecting you more than you think.

I too have taken Teva brand Adderall for almost 10 years now, and am very self aware of the level of effectiveness I experience taking it. I too have noticed a very sharp drop in the active ingredient in Teva brand instant release 20 mg tablet, which led me in seeking answers on this site.

Hmmm, this makes me wonder big time about my recent experiences with my TEVA that had been so trustworthy and predictable for the year I've been taking it - works well when I had a reasonable amount of sleep, barely works at all during the last day of pms and 1st day or 2 of period; and always seems to wear off quickly if I've had way too little sleep. Other than that, was great most of them. I had learned that I must not have citrus or too much vitamin c within an hour of taking, or else the effect were dramatically reduce. All manageable stuff. Usually didn't have any Vit C until later in the day anyway, but on the occasion that I only waited like an hour, it had been fine. Then last weekend, because I was home with family and having different scheduling, I was having o.j. With breakfast in the morning, but still waiting an hour to an hour and 15 mins to drink it, and noticed I lead feeling sluggish and sleepy-eyed in the afternoon. I had chalked it up to vit C too close, but now I wonder. Then my schedule was all whack last week, so no chance to get a fair read... In any case, just had my script refilled a few days ago, and to my horror, it was filled with a generic that I've never had before (core) and I've been worried to try it out because on my 4th month of adderall treatment the pharm gave me aurobindo, and it was a bad experience, and a rough month for me, and we went round about it and had an understanding, they were keeping TEVA in stock for me, so now I don't why I ended with this core, and I am dreading having to experiment, and be out of what I am used to, especially during a particularly chaotic month. Ugh.

Accurate research is difficult to obtain. I am now 84, could not spell ADHD until I was diagnosed in the military. That was almost 60 years ago. As I look back at my youth the fifth grade was my enlightenment. I had all the symptoms. Many of my fellow adhd participants know what I mean. In the first four grades I was the outstanding student every year. After that year it took me six years to graduate from high school. Then I was introduced to ADDERALL. I won't bore you with my success. The adderall in those days to me was very effective. Today I sincerely believe that big pharma not only controls the ingredients, but the manufacturing process, the cost to the user and perhaps the Government folks that approve every aspect of the ADDERALL supply. I do not know the truth of those words. I do know that anyone, female or male, young or old that suffers from this malady has a difficult time coping with everyday life. Greedy, selfish human beings are the perpetrators of this crime.

Starlight- My doctor writes the generic brand that works for me with DAW on my prescription. Maybe yours will do the same! :)

I have taken Teva generic adderall ir for many years, and although it can be at times inconsistent, it is far better and more efficacious than corepharma, or any other brand I have found as of yet

The pink 30 mg instant release suck. The orange footballs are better nade by teva, but last month something was definitely off with my teva 30 mg adderall. I was not focused at all, angry and disconnected. My Dr agrees that one little filler can make it all off. Idk I wish I could get a stable drug company. It's unfair! Best of luck to all

Same here and like you I'm sure, found this thread looking for answers and/or explanations. I did see that TEVA brand 10mg IR was recalled in July...makes you wonder how much the process differs from making a 10,20,30 mg and why they weren't all recalled?

Both of my latest refills (20, 30 ir) are noticeably and drastically different then any others I've received in the past three years. No focus, no clarity, more confusion, zero initiative, very short lasting boost comparable to one cup of coffee follwed by horrible drowsiness, tired but not sleepy, overall just disconnected.

I will be refusing teva on my future refills and am considering having my current (bad) pills analyzed to prove just how far off they really are. It's scary really.

I agree. I've been a once-a-week user of TEVA 20mg XR for several years now with very good results. The last refill i got, (identical label, capsule imprint (M. Amphet Salts 20mg) and outside appearance), as all the others, had MUCH less product in the capsule. I noticed it right away. Half empty. I examined a number of other Under the assumption that the capsules really did have only half the dosage, I took another and waited. NOTHING. I took TWO more. No effect whatsoever, not even a dry mouth. I've only taken 2 capsules once in the 2 years I've been using Adderall before, so 4 should have had a huge effect - half empty or not. Tolerance is not an issue - I took my last dosage about a week ago- same effect as always - a mild nice increase in focus and energy. So that leaves the med. Fortunately.....i still have a few capsules from the last refill at the office. That will allow me to do 2 things: 1) confirm that a single dose STILL WORKS (it will) and 2: compare the amount, appearance and taste of the beads in OLD and NEW. I'll report back when I find out. Stay tuned.......

Hi there, Jay Smood. In a way, I agree with you in terms of the power of influence. One reads these posts and, in the back of one's mind, we fear we will have the same issues. Like you, and everyone else, I have tried all the generic brands. Pharmacys keep in stock whatever generic brand is cheaper at the moment. In other words, market price of the moment depending on share losses and gains. It's all about supply and demand; and as a result, we are victims of this economic competition. The truth is, that the pharmaceutical companies do have different ingredients that do, in fact, affect one. I've tried actavis, corepharma, Ritalin, brand name adderall, vivance, and the 10mg and 20mg IR teva generic tablets. Out of all these, corepharma and Ritalin were the worst. Vivance was superior; however, it does give bone and joint pain. I have a benign nerve tumor coming out of my spine and this area would bother me when taking vivance; thus, I decided to stop because I do not want to tamper with this area. My insurance refuses to cover brand name, despite my doctor saying it is medically needed. The 10mg Teva was pretty good. But, there is a significant difference with the 20mg Teva. Depending on my activities, I begin to feel very sleepy five hours into the medication. If I cut the pill into 10mg, it gets worse. Thereby, I don't think these people are disclosing nonsense "in a five page essay." And, while you are entitled to your thoughts, consider what people say but don't let that be your marker. Also, what people mean about motivation is the tiredness they feel. Read about the history of the drug as it does provide a sense of wanting-to-do. It was given to WWII pilots and to nazi soldiers to fight the soviets (the nazis lost). ADD is also marked by inconsistent sense of motivation. ADD people are like a bell curve; we are never consistent in anything. If you would like people to consider your opinions/feelings, focus on your writing. People cannot respect your thoughts, which come out angry, if you write so poorly.

OMG..I had to pause and submit a reply!!! That Aurobindo Brand "generic adderall" is horrific. Do Not Get It!!! Don't believe me... Just search online!!! I had a horrible month and nearly lost all 3 of my jobs!!!! I couldnt understand what was happening and finally ended up online and saw that Tons of others had the same issue.

Hi Sarah, I truly believe that the FDA and big pharma are married. Whoever has the big bucks will pay off big FDA adminstrators. However, I do notice a SIGNIFICANT difference between the Teva 10 mg and 20 mg. the 10 mg is far better. I decided to start weaning off little by little. I've added b-12, vitamin d-3, omega 3, and L-tyrosine. I also added Sam--E. Sam-e has some really great reviews from the national health institute and psychiatric times. I took a 400 mg and it was pretty good; however, my heart was about to come out my chest for a about 20 minutes; and this is odd for me because I'm a long distance runner and I'm immune to heart palpitations. Start slow with a 200mg and then increase as needed. You will not feel that high from adderall but you will notice a consistency throughout the day. Good to take on your no adderall days.

It is true that Adderall has different effects on many users. It may even affect an Adderall patient differently from one days dose to another days dose. Even if the pill is taken from the same script. I believe the real problem is created when the manufacturer makes minor changes to the contents of the Adderall without any notice to the user. I am not aware of all the Government regulations that the manufacturer must follow. Unfortunately there seems to be a lack of adherence to the rules. Any of the pharmaceutical products that require require a prescription are rigidly controlled. Especially products that contain any form of a controlled substance. Perhaps the stringent rules do not apply to Adderall.

You're correct. There is a problem. I filled a prescription for 30mg short-acting Adderall and one pill did nothing. Two pills did nothing. Three pills did nothing. The problem lies somewhere in the FDA-DEA-Shire triangle but I haven't figured it out yet.

I agree... I had a script filled on 1/13 and I have been tired everyday since. I was falling asleep after taking a 30mg... Finally, I took one of the pills I had left from my script that was filled on December 11th and it worked...seems that I've gotten a bad batch of the Teva generic... I plan to call CVS in the morning... Anyone else notice a difference between scripts filled within the last few months?

It's the same with Mallinckrodt Dextroamphetamine sulfate 10 mg tablets. 150 mg's during the day. Could have eaten the whole bottle. I'm not comfortable with that number personally. I was in Europe and the dexedrine is good. Brought some back with me. Got the ER dexedrine. Thought I'd maybe use the 5's for add on's. I take 60mg a day. I don't know. I'd say these things have an effect that is very disconcerting. Like they have something in them that isn't amphetamine. Seems like it builds up in the system. I submitted a FOIA request to the FDA. No one has gotten back to me. People are talking about 40% decrease in medication. For what motivation can they do that however? My state doesn't allow it. In my state you go to jail for selling bogus medication. Anyways, the end will come soon enough. Somebody send the stuff to a chemist -- University of Montana. Ask 'em to do and NMR on it. Other analysis. Look for halogens. Then have them test the strength by shifting the polarized light with a know enantiomer of amphetamine. They are pretty smart, I'm sure they can do it even with Adderall.
