Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 11) (Top voted first)

Updated

I have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?

Maybe in the past but clearly not now as all of the replies prove.

My doctor, after testing my focus, concentration and memory, thinks I need to be back on the meds. I have "recurrent ADHD", as the doctor explains it, and extreme life stressors can trigger ADHD symptoms. Symptoms thought to have been resolved can re-manifest themselves. The other (old adderall) brand is (just) Barr. Not the Teva/Barr.

It’s happened to me multiple times w/ Teva D-amphetamines, where NONE of my pills did ANYTHING but if I take one from an old bottle / dif brand it works! This happened to me w/ Teva multiple times, with both 15mg and 20mg 2x/day dosages. It really s***s on my day when I open a bottle and my medication does not work at all..... it’s even happened during finals week and now I’m trying to study and I have a bottle of TEVA TRASH.

I’ve been taking generic Adderall for 7 years 30 mg twice daily. Teva used to work without side effects, last month received Sandoz and that worked really well. CorP was crap. Mylar okay, just not smooth transition when med wearing off. Picked up my Rx on Sat. and it was Teva bc not enough Sandoz in stock. The pills are thicker than before. For the last 2 days, I’ve had a pounding heart, can hear my heartbeat in my ears, blurry vision, nausea, anxiety, and a severe headache with the onset about one hour after taking the Teva. My BP spiked to 175/100 and it’s normally 130/70. On top of those symptoms, the medication efficacy is terrible and leaving me unable to focus. Clearly, Teva, your new modification on manufacturing is leaving many of us with terrible side effects and no symptom control.

I am a RN and need my ADHD symptoms adequately controlled. I used to take Vyvanse and that worked well, but didn’t last for 12 hours so my doc added 10 mg Adderall in evening. The short acting gave me better control to adjust with my work hours and less costly, but the ups and downs of getting a generic that actually works (now that Sandoz will no longer be manufactured) leaves me no choice, but to ask to go back on Vyvanse. At least a portion of the day, symptoms will be managed, but my doctor won’t do it before this 30 day Rx is up. I did submit complaint to FDA.

Please let us know how goes for you. Maybe if we all stand together and communicate, the drug companies will clean up their act. I am of the belief that there is only so much availability to each of the components that make up adderall. Thus, when a manufacturer is running low, they simply add filler to the batch. Recall does not bother them. They are not fined. They pay back no monies for defective adderall. So, I ask you, if they were running low on the active ingredients, why would they not simply add filler and keep meeting their CONTRACTUAL demands? It is simply a win-win for them. I mean, it makes perfect sense. If you go from place to place asking which brands they have, some pharmacies say that is "drug seeking behavior"? Really, considering some "drugs" are not effective and you can not get a refund, why wouldn't you be an informed consumer? What, ??? do they want you to exhibit "placebo seeking behavior" instead, because that is what I have been receiving from the pharmacy, and with no recompense.

The mention of "drug seeking behavior" is suppose to scare you into shutting up and taking what they give you (the cheapest version that they can buy), because the pharmacy can report you to your doctor for "drug seeking behavior", and thereby reject your prescriptions until you see your doctor for a "wellness check". So they might mention drug-seeking behavior as a control tactic. Just another head-screw to get you to accept crap medicine so everyone profits and is happy.....except you, the consumer. Just tell them that you are an informed consumer and you are forced to shop around because they offer no refunds when their "drugs" do not work, and you can not name any other product for which you can not make a return when the product is defective......You are on "placebo avoidance watch".

Had to quit school. Got this brand this week and cannot function or stay awake. Is there anyone willing to test these and file for legal action?

Well that explains that! I'm not going to get my pharmacist in trouble over it. He was just trying his best to get me my medicine. But I have total vindication on the extended release (which was made by ACTA) not working. My doctor called just now to ask why my medication wasn't in my urine on my last visit. So add another culprit to the placebo pill ripoff list. I mistakenly thought my stomach didn't absorb it because I ate breakfast that morning, since I often found that I didn't have any relief from my ADD symptoms on time release meds if I ate before or right after taking it, and that goes for other time release medications as well. I now remember I didn't eat breakfast at all that morning though, and I certainly took it, as well as every day for the entire month as prescribed. The only difference is that I got up late so I had only taken one, and the month before I got up so early that I had taken both by the time I went to the doctor. Interesting! I wonder if my doctor can help me file an FDA complaint?

Please let us know how it works over a few days. Since the FDA will not seriously crack down on this, it is up to us to try and get the word out. The reason they won't do much is because if the drug companies lose money they may go out of business, and if they go out of business....well, we won't need as many FDA employees. Plus, they can not do unannounced quality inspections in the foreign facilities. I have learned that these facilities are buying their ingredients from China. China has a very poor record of drug quality. Welcome to your politicians forced "globalism". Isn't it great. We lower our standards for every other nation to succeed. I mean after all, it's just brain medication, and not defective brake parts, right. Pfttttt.

Something Needs To Change. Most All Meds Do Not Work.Where Are These Meds Coming From? The Pharmacys All Carry The Same Brands, They Said Its All They Could Get. The State along With The Government Want To Take A Lot Away From People That Needs Them,Only Thing Is They Dont Work. So Whats A Person In Pain Or Very Sick Going To Do??? Drs Have Stopped Giving Meds The PPL Need Because Of All Of This.. The Law Needs Changed.PPL Are Not Dying Because Of Meds From A Dr,Its Because They Cant Get The Meds They Need So They Turn To Street Drugs And That is Whats Killing Them...

Teva bought Actavis that manufactures Adderall generic in 2016 I think. Check out the FDA website. Many lots, all strengths have been recalled by FDA 2016 and 2017 because of impurities etc Level 2 Health Hazard.

I just had my 10mg IR by teva filled at Walgreens yesterday.

It’s crap. It will completely dissolve in my mouth, and it tastes very sweet.... none of the other generic brands I’ve had are that way.

I’ve only had 4 doses at this point & it seems to be either that I get panic / anxiety with no adhd management or I get zero adhd management and hunger?

This is insane. :( I tried them in order to avoid aurobindo brand which I felt didn’t have the kick I need... but they at least helped me concentrate, didn’t give me anxiety, and kept my appetite down.

I’m so mad I have 30 days of this s*** to deal with.

I am also experiencing major issues with my adderall this month. Every time I take it I feel like crap I want to sleep like I’ve been drugged and mood swings. I have taken the same brand Teva (Barr) for 12 years and this isn’t the first time that this has happened. I know it’s a bad batch because the when I start the next months script everything goes back to normal. I am extremely angry because contrary to what some believe adderall actually helps me sleep and have a healthy appetite along with helping my ADD unfortantly with the current medication not only are my ADD symptoms worse and I feel like crap I can’t sleep and feel sick when I eat. So it really makes daily life difficult and I would like to know what it is I’m putting in my body. So I would love to know where to file a complaint.

Re: Chris (# 728) Expand Referenced Message

Are you a drug company troll? That makes no sense.

1) According to a friend who has used methamphetamine (before diagnosis) and adderall (after diagnosis) they are not the same AT ALL. One gives you a buzz for days that is scattered and random - the other keeps you focused for hours on whatever you are working on.

2. For me, generic adderall that is working doesn't produce euphoria, or "a high" - it produces a calm, focused state. (Now getting my work done on time does make me feel good, but that isn't what you're saying). If the drug is working correctly, at the end of the day, I'm naturally sleepy and ready for bed, and I and sleep well. If it isn't working correctly, I am sleepy all day, and then frustrated as well because I can't focus and get my work done which jacks up anxiety. In any case, adderall should never make me sleepy or depressed within an hour of taking it or change from one month to the next.

3) If your theory was true, then it wouldn't change for just one month out of several. The issue being discussed here is inconsistency, not tolerance or habituation.

At my first job at Glaxo, I worked for probably the smartest guy ever, I'll leave his name out, but he told me, "Never take a Generic!" "Why?" I asked. He said, "Well, we are the best in the world at making drugs, but even when were done, there's a small portion of the pill that we don't know what's in there; now can you imagine other manufacturers (Generics) have, when they don't clean their vessels properly" Part of the job we had was the 3rd level of Quality Checks, before it went to the final check that became the official record, we also did 'Cleaning Validation' so we worked on ensuring everything was clean before starting a batch. You'd be surprised how many things get 'dropped' or fall into a batch, while we would test and if we could tell it caused a problem would dump the product down the drain, 100's of thousands of dollars worth. Do you think they do that in China or India? I doubt it. I used to make small batches in the laboratory, just 1 gallon of a pure drug, was worth $100,000.

Dr's don't know anything about drugs except what's in the literature and what the hot sales lady tells them. They are not chemists. They are not pharmacists. They don' t do studies. Unless they are a Dr. who does studies, who doesn't see actual patients. Stop thinking Dr's are god, they are not, they just read books and drive mercedes and are in debt and have 2.5 wives they're paying for. It's all trial and error, "here take this pill" did it work? No, ok, try this other pill, did it work? no. Ok, then try this other pill.

Hmm...its strange that they are made by Epic
I think this is "new" as old bottle said it was manufactured by Sandoz (hence everyone saying Sandoz has changed and is very weak and ineffective..)

If Epic brand labels for Core, it's the old Core formula.....all this does not make sense from a manufacturing standpoint: They make Epic brand, Sandoz brand and the old Core brand?

Anyway, they are far from the old Core. Sometimes I'll take my 30mg dose and forget I took it because there is no discernible effectness.

These generic companies seem to be all interconnected in some way....bottom line it's all about profits.

Good luck.

Well said. Add the tampering with previously effective inexpensive scheduled medications to the ridiculous claims now put forth as a cover-up, i. e. "opiates cause MORE pain, benzodiazepines cause MORE panic, CBD and biologics cure EVERYTHING, stimulants don't REALLY help ADHD--zap your brain with this new FDA-approved device instead!!" and it's easy to see what's going on.

Those of us who HAVE been helped by scheduled meds prior to the tampering of the active and inactive ingredients of those meds and subsequent convenient rewriting of basic pharmacological principles know the truth, but no one wants to listen to those of us old enough to remember the difference in medication efficacy. Meanwhile, the younger generations are prescribed the latest antipsychotics "off label" for everything under the sun starting in childhood, to terrible physical and mental consequences. But nooo, chronic pain patients who want to be able to live without suicidal pain, patients with anxiety disorders who want to go about their lives without being in a constant fight-or-flight response, and ADHD people like myself who couldn't even be sure I'd make a plane flight for business trips prior to stimulant treatment, we're all just delusional about the changes in our medication. Sure.

And everyone is supposed to just shut up and not care that proven medications for panic, pain, and ADHD are not only demonized but tampered, and instead celebrate that marijuana suddenly went from Reefer Madness to legal to touted as the ultimate cure-all for every ailment. Sorry, but this total 180 would seem suspicious to me even if my own personal neurochemistry didn't respond poorly to cannabinoids.
