2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 42)

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.

great reply and info thanks ---but this has been getting harder and harder every month to get fill so if those pharmacies had them a few months ago they mite not now i didnt know when you last filled at kays -----last month 1 day to find this month almost imposssible ....it sucks

give it time, we are all in the same boat! But i cant wait for the day that people start having seizures and heart attack, strokes etc. and i know it is happening already, but you don't want that in the news if your the Gov. or Walgreens, F,D.A, or D.E.A, right? Of course im right! And today in my city i seen a bunch of police and fire trucks at a Walgreens and hate to say it, but the first thought i had was ......someone was tired of Pharmacist saying NO on filling their loved ones meds.! That day is comming or happened too! It all turned out bad, not any good came out of this mess the D.E.A started. All of us are paying because of ONE DISTRIBUTION CENTER, and they still get to stay open!!!! Go figure.

Mickey, I was also a Walgreen's customer for 2 yrs and starting in may, they pulled the same exact thing on me. Filled roxycodone 30 mg. #150. For all that time. I go in there with same script from same Dr and the asst tells me good luck with that! I ask to speak to pharmacist and she tells me I'm not comfortable filling for that Dr, and I don't have that medication. I called corporate and filed a complaint against the pharmacist. Not 10 min later I get a call back from some corporate moron who says " I bet you're complaining about the pharmacist not filling roxycodone and you live in FL"? I said yes, been filling same med there for 2 yrs. He tells me she has the right to refuse to fill that med that's being abused in FL. Treated me like a piece of garbage. I haven't been able to get roxycodone since may. I went to a small pharmacy, and after my husband pleaded with them, they filled it. Told me to call a few days before next time and they would have them for me. I called the next month, and was told we won't fill for you, and you got the fill in pharmacist fired for filling that last month. I was furious. I switched to opana, and another small pharmacy would only fill 90 out of 150. I had to forfeit the other 60. This past month, went back there again, and was told we don't have opana. Had to switch again to morphine. No problem.filling those.nut they're awful, still in alot of pain and nauseous. I sleep so much. I don't know what I'm gonna do next week, I can't get this morphine again. My quality of life stinks because no one cares. I'm at my wits end, bc the Dr doesn't care either. As long as they're getting their copay, they jist keep telling me keep trying to find roxycodone. I'm done, and they all screwed chronic pain pts. You're not alone and Walgreens, you suck.

I live in Ormond Beach and the Walgreens here filled the prescription for 30mg Oxy everymonth with few problems....Then this week I was told by the pharmacist that "we haven't had those for months." I pulled out the empty prescription bottle from the previous month, same pharmacy, and told them I filled last month and for the past year. "You must be mistaken," the pharmacist said....Back and forth we went, then she says..."I don't feel comfortable filling from that doctor." Walgreens refused to fill the prescription...the same medicine and doctor I've used for a year and filled at the same Walgreens. Walgreens pharmacist are liars and I can't believe a word they say.

I agree that some sort of action needs to be taken so that medication vital to the quality of life for patients living in chronic pain is available as prescribed. Anyone out there been through withdrawals yet? Other pain meds (percocett - my substitute script oxycodonje) is being allocated -first come first served. Five stores before getting my script. Tuesday, I found 1 mom and pop pharmacy in Jacksonville yesterday that had some oxycodone in stock but few insurance affiliations. At $1050, my disability check would be gone. So thanks for continuing to abuse the ill and poor. It seems America has abanded It's core values

Because the DEA has decided THEY are your Dr. NOW. NO ONE will get more than 180 of ANYTHING. ONE long acting, and ONE short acting is all you get no matter what. His Dr knows he has severe chronic pain and has been taking pain meds for 12 years, and has built up quite a tolerance. Yes, he took alot, but he was finally starting to get comfortable and get out of the house every once in a while. Now its back to bed 24/7, upset stomach, and sleep, sleep and more sleep. It's no kind of life. This is crap. There is a medicine that will help him.....but OH YOU JUST CAAAAAAAAN'T HAVE IT. Bull crap.

does anyone know what is the dea is trying to do this time...had a reg. walmart went to, this morning to my surpise they no longer carry my meds. so ive been there for 2 yrs. and now im surpose to go find a pham. in the mist of all the maddness....im so upset . what is one to do..went around for 4 hrs. and either were out or on back stock or we dont order that...in north tampa...any advice

I went to my doctor yesterday and had my script for oxycodone 30mg dropped from 180 to 150. I was told that this was a temporary thing per DEA. They also prescribed me a multi-vitamin and motrin 400mg. I was told this was due to some new regulations. The pharmacy I had my script filled at last month will not fill not fill my script this due to some new regulation stating that they can only fill for cancer patients, wtf...? This is crazy.

Why was his meds cut in half? I would start looking for a good pain Dr. I wish I knew where he could get his meds., I couldn't find my oxycodone 30mg. Any more, that's how I ended up on forum ....I am lucky enough to have a Dr willing to try me on different meds. Though, he stopped writing for oxys., because people can't find them, but was having him writing scripts anyways, then being bombarded with frantic calls from people wanting different meds, 'cause they can't find oxys....my Dr states they will not be making oxys or dilaudeds in the future....time to start experimenting with other drugs that might be easier to find....I hate hearing about people being in pain, it cripples the soul for sure...

my fiance is disabled and with spinal cord and nerve damage, plus his cocyx bone grew back backwards and he is in sever pain all the time since 2000. They just cut his meds in less than half, so he went from 240 oxy and 360 methadone, to 180 of each, and we cant even get the oxy anywhere. He tried the morphine and sleeps 24/7. This is awful. Isnt it bad enough his life is ruined and he already wants to throw himself down the stairs so he would be paralized and out of pain or kill himself if he wasnt so scared? Who are these people to tell us what meds our sick loved ones should take? The are NOT doctors and have NO idea what the injuries are. I think we need to get together and picket. I really think we do or nothing is going to change...the news needs to know how walgreens has treated a customer that they have enjoyed thousands and thousands of dollars from medicare over the last 12 years and now treat him like some sub human. I will lose my job driving around trying to find the meds he needs. I live in pinellas county if anyone knows where to get it, please let me know....

Panicnpain....he is such a liar! I got an RX for 180 10 mg., no questions or comments....I'm sick of some of the pharmacists I've heard about on this forum....also, your Dr. Could get a little more with the program...just keep trying to find someone to let you fill what your Dr. Orders, It's no wonder so many people are not getting adequate pain management, or are running out of their meds. Earlier than they should have to...there's got to be some kind of rights for people suffering!!

Miss Karen, I found them last month at a small pharmacy too. I'm the one who was prescribed 150 10 mg, and pharmacist would only fill 90. The ir's come in generic.(roxane) With insurance cost me $58.00 for 90. They work like you said, much better than morphine. I called the pharmacist who filled the opana last month, and I he said call me before your Dr s appt. I stopped there instead, and I told him I had a hard time with the 90,and could he at least fill 100-120 so after whispers, he tells me he doesn't have them. Liar. I got morphine this month and they're terrible. I will ask.Dr next week for opana again, bc 90 of those work alot better than 150 morphine 30 mg. Ir's. God bless and thanks for the info

I went for my monthly visit to my pain specialist today, found out some info, to put rumors I heard about to rest....it's not good for pain patients....my Dr. Will not be writing any more scripts for oxys, or dilaudids. Drug companies will stop making both meds. In the near future...he wrote for opanas 10mg., is equivalent to 30mg. Oxys. They are super expensive, I have only tried two so far....waaaay better than morphine ir is all I can say so far....and I was only able to fill them because I'm a small pharmacy regular, and was told to try to take the least amount I can get by with for the month, because they may be hard to find month to month, ....my co-pay was fifty $$....

I was looking into the where abouts to make formal complaints and I ran across this little diddy from a pharmasist, It wont let me post i have to registar etc,... doubt thats gona happen it says not to be rude...Really Read the LAST LINE!!!!! Im pist. SO they (speaking of the addict) have a certian look and really sick peeps have that as well. SO what about just one whom is used to living the whole life n pain smile grin or bare it. okay fine it wont allow me to cut to paste, so she goes on to say that they dont mind recounting pills and that customers need to present the stuation better for a result... okay, then she say we know who the addicts are n who is sick. So this is the thing Morans like her is what started this s***. Sorry however is the truth, if were not for the fact that they want to label anyone on an opiate thats like over 20 n over 60 ..... so the rest are addicts i suppose. I have had severe pain and never knew about opiates and then found they were the ticket im now 52, i what a few good years left. My body my business if i want to take them and factly if you take more then a week body dependant bad. Mentally after a month. Why would noone be able to let euphorea take hold seeing years of pain stopped most smiles, Is noones business to judge anyone, im not the godly person but i do beleive the right to judge is not anyones but he who holds that body. Call me what you will I get sick with no meds, i been on them for 12 years, does not mean im an addict, i take when i want to take period...If im not in pain the taking is fioolish as when in severe pain i cant get them i dont waste, Gosh I hate ignorance....Just wanted to share that... by the way hello I read all your comments and i feel for you guys, in florida i mean.
