I had a HORRIBLE reaction to percocet. Vommiting, rash, itching. It made me feel so awful. I felt horribly sick! I even tried taking it with benadryl like the doctor said. No difference at all. Does anybody know of any pain meds that don't contain Morphine? I had been taking the max dose of 2 10mg lortab every 4hrs and it gave me little or no pain relief at all, wich was the reason for switching me to 1 10/325mg percocet every 4hrs. I have arthritis in my lower back and my L3&L4 discs are buldging & my L5 discs is completly blown. From this it affects my ciatic nerve causing drop foot and severe pain in my left foot & leg. I go to the neurosurgeon on May 31st. Tommorow I go to doctor to discuss the reaction to percocet and what we are going to do for my pain. Any advice ...

I am going to have surgery to repair a fractured humerus and percocet does nothing to help with the pain. What meds can I get my dr. to prescribe? ## The first choice in many hospitals now for better pain relief is Dilaudid, which contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone. Learn more Dilaudid details here. It's very potent, it only takes 3.75mgs of it to equal each 10mgs of Oxycodone, which is the active narcotic in the Percocet. Just like other narcotics, there is a chance that it could be habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. Has your doctor made any other suggestions? ## i think opoid drugs like tramadol and opoid related drugs can help you but addiction resuls if u take more than its dosage and duration ## I agree ...

I was in an an auto accident 2 yrs ago and both knees made impact with dash. At first not much pain but now pain is chronic because of loss of cartlidge.Should I be taking something to help rebuild the cartlidge? And as the pain goes after working all day it's so bad I dont sleep at night and have tried Alieve, Advil, etc. but it wont help. Any advice? ## Unfortunately nothing rebuilds cartilage that the regular person can afford. Stem cell therapy is being experimented with. I used hyaluronic acid shots in my knee for years before I got it replaced. It is awesome. Don't use cortisone shots. Cortisone shots tend to deteriorate the remainder of the joint space. Orthovisc is a series of 3 inj's. Expensive but what a relief!!! ## Hello Fisherguy I am in the same situation no ca...

I am 52 I have been in sever lower back pain with pain radiating down my legs for two years now have taken over counter med and seen nurse practioners most doctors will not even seen you now days need any kind help. ice daily and chiropractor made it worst. ## I had the begginings of spinal stenosis and arthritis in the sacroiliac area. Opioids have been the least of all evils for pain relief. We have tried with various anti inflammatories. Those wreaked havoc on my kidneys. I was just informed by my PCP that this will be the last month she can help me with my monthly opioids. I am scared to death and sick at my stomach. I have suffered from depression in the past and this type of pain killer gave me a sense of normalcy. She wants to refer me to a pain clinic. I have heard and read horr...

desperately seeking doc who will rx pain medication in dallas tx. severe pain in lft knee and leg, so bad i can hardly walk at times. i limp so much it causes referred pain to my back and hips. cant walk for extended periods of time it hurts so bad, it even wakes me up when i change positions in my sleep. help!!! ## Hello, Karen! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. Due to the new regulations and requests made by the DEA, in order to have pain medications prescribed, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. A general practice physician won't be able to prescribe them for you. Do you currently have a PCP that you see regularly that might be able to refer you to someone? If so, that might be the quickest and easiest way to find the help you need. Can an...

Personal decision to discontinue pain meds a year ago..to see if I could without. I did it, but having 24/7 pain is no longer tolerable and am going back to pain doctor to see if he will RX meds again. Am unable to take anything with aspirin, anti-inflammatory meds, or Fibro meds made for this condition of Fibro. Opioids are the ONLY meds I have ever been able to tolerate, & most doctors will not go this route. So my condition is about to become intolerable AGAIN !. I look & feel like a zombie trying to ambulate. I have reactions to all Fibro meds & to aspiring and antiinflammatoies. So am very limited in what , if any meds, I CAN tolerate. There aren't many meds out there for someone like me. But cannot envision spending the rest of my life in this chronic pain. I'm...

Osteoporosis,Celiac,HRT,MouthUlcers,Insomnia,Fatigue...........Wine seems safest pain reliever w/o side effects. Any suggestions? Pain 24/7. Frustrated. ## No, wine certainly does have side effects, you just may not notice them all immediately, but they are there, especially if you have more than a serving or 2 a day. It does contain alcohol, so it can cause liver damage, stomach damage, esophageal damage and it can be cardio-toxic. Things are made even worse, if you combine it with pain medications, such as NSAIDS and/or narcotics. There are very good reasons that doctor's tell their patients not to drink, or to do so only in moderation. There are also good reasons most prescription drugs tell you not to drink, while taking them. What medications do you take? ## Thank you for your ...

I've been on soboxone for 3 years. I'm now having a bad bout of Colitis, Very painful. Day 5 off soboxone and my Percocets are still not breaking through? Help???? ## Because suborn is a blocker . You would of had to cut back on suboxin or actually quit all together to be effected by the pain killers . so there is nothing you can do about it honey you cannot take a handful of painkillers to override the Suboxonethats where stuff gets dangerous . Also suboxin was not made to ttake three years in a row . It was supposed to be used to get off of Hard drugs ween yourself down and be over. Now you may need a detox because of ' subs ' or you need to wean yourself darling honey that's what it supposed to be a little bit less every week until nothing

My back and neck got messed up in 2008. Ever sence I've been taking pain pills. If one doesn't work they give me stronger ones. Some of them I just really hated-made me feel like crap. So what do I do? I've had neurosurgeon treatments, physical therapy, walking, bed rest. I just frickin hurt and I'm sick of it. ## Hello, Katy! How are you feeling? I am very sorry about the problem that you're having. Have you tried chiropractic therapy? Or perhaps acupuncture? They do successfully help some people, so they may be options you can explore. What medications do you take? With those, it's really a matter of just trying to various ones, until you find what works for you, without making you miserable. Does anyone else have any advice to add? ## They also have Psychologi...

So I've been in pain management for 10 plus yrs. I never liked the morphine sulfate ER except for the 100mg pills witch are nearly impossible to get prescribed. They worked great. I've usually been on Oxycontin 30mg or 20's. Although I've found the 60's and 80's work best. And about 4-5 yrs ago I got started on Oxymorphone 30mg. The ones made by Actavis were by far the best thing out there. Then they stopped making them and the only generic made is by Global. Now these 30mg are not bad at all, and are by far the best thing out there as of now. But my doc made it his business to drop me down to the 20mg, and when I say these are garbage, they are garbage. It takes 3-4 20mg to get the effect of one 30mg. I've mentioned something to my doc at least 3 different t...

With new laws passed can a dr now wright a script for pain med instead of going to a pain dr ## Hello, John! How are you? Yes, they can still write them, but most prefer not to do so. It is felt that by having people see a pain management specialist, it will help curb improper prescribing and over prescribing. If a PCP prescribes something like this, it will most likely be scrutinized and they will have to have very good reason for doing so. Exceptions are made, however, for people that suffer possibly terminal conditions that cause intractable pain, such as stage 4 cancer. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything...

I have severe rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, and carpal tunnel in both wrists. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Well I have been seeing the same Dr for the last 8 yrs and because people can't follow directions, or abuse their medication is why I am now looking for a new LEGITIMATE Dr. His practice made a decision to no longer write pain medication, bc they do not have the resources or time to monitor it properly. He wrote me a excellent referral letter, saying I follow all guidelines, and am a good patient. My rheumatologist believes in a different pain medication than I am prescribed, and so he said he would write me rxs for a new medication, but if it ain't broke don't fix it. I have tried everything under the sun, and I'm also taking Arava, ibuprofen, and Pla

Does anyone know of caring physicians in the Sacramento, CALIFORNIA area willing to prescribe pain meds for chronic pain? I have had over 20 procedures to reconstruct my urinary tract due to bladder mesh erosion. i self cath thru my belly button stoma and my entire spine has either herniated and bulging discs or fused discs and I am in EXCRUCIATING PAIN. My abdomen is the worst tho. I have a "bladder" made from resected bowel, colon and my appendix and I have "knives" and "hot pokers" in my belly 24/7. I need something stronger than a 10 mg oxycodone 4 times a day. My PCP won't do any more because of DEA. He referred me to pain management and they sent note to add a duragesic patch to my treatment plan. PCP refused. WHAT CAN I DO? I'm not a seeker, and don't do recreational drugs. Anyone know of a doc that would help???? ## Your PCP is severely restricted on what they ca...

I am originally from Ohio. For the last three years my husband has had to work in Florida. I really wanted to go with him this time because I was only able to see him for a week every six months. I made sure that I found a pain management doctor down here. I take morphine and dilaudid. I have done everything I was supposed to do. My problem is that no pharmacy will fill my prescription. If someone could please help me out, I would be very grateful. Where can I get this? ## Unfortunately, there is almost always a shortage of most narcotic pain medications for the last few months of the year, due to mandatory manufacturing limits. Do you have insurance? If so, then the best thing I can advice is that you contact them and see if they have a preferred mail order pharmacy that you can use. T...

Does anyone know if suboxine can be used for pain. i have fibromylgia and have ruptured disks and pinched syacitia nerves. im currently on 3 5mg of loritabs and 3 300mg of neurotin a day for pain mag. but it dosnt really work most days. i tried suboxin one day and it helped my pain much more than my meds. was i imagining it or does it really help. ## Suboxone can help with pain, although it's probably not nearly as potent as other narcotic pain meds. It could be that you had imagined it to be more potent than other previous treatment options. I believe your thoughts are just as real as what's in front of you. Has anyone else had success using Suboxone for pain? ## I have been using oxi for over a year.I have an extremly bad back 30 years hiking but my addictive tendencies made i...

How are you? Due to new regulations that were put in place last year, they have no choice about making some changes to your prescriptions, under some circumstances. The days of doctors just being totally liberal with prescribing are over. Have you ask them why they made the changes? It could very well be because they had to do so. Does anyone know of any good doctors in that area? ## The DEA are so helpful! They are not Dr's. If they are like most law enforcement they barely ...
