Are expired ferrous sulphate pills safe to take? They expired in 08. ## When it comes to drugs/medication I think it is best to not take any chances with the past expiration date. They MAY still be ok to take if they haven't been exposed to a high amount of heat or various other conditions outside of the bottle, however I am not a pharmacist or MD, so I cannot guarantee if it is in fact safe for you to consume. There is still a high likelihood that it lost some of its potency and may be ineffective to the point where it could harm your body by not doing it's job all the way, per say. I would recommend contacting your local pharmacy or doctor to assess if the quality of the drug still remains. They may have certain tools or methods for measuring this sort of thing. I was diagnosed with anemia following a recent blood test. I was given ferrous sulphate tablets to increase my iron levels. When I started them, and for the first time, I got really bad flatulence and belching, which felt that it was started from below my stomach (it smelt and tasted like that!) As it was so antisocial, I stopped taking the tablets, and the problem went away. The only trouble is that, now, if I eat anything which is iron rich (like red meat), I get the same problem. Is there anything I can do to stop these embarrassing outbursts, other than not eating iron-rich foods?

In the past I have been prescribed Iberet 500 gradumet tablets for anemia. They work very well, no nausea or constipation and prompt response in raising hemoglobin levels. Are they still available in this country? ## @calm1inc, From what I've researched these tablets don't seem to be available in the US. I went onto the manufacturer's website (abbott) and they only show Iberet-500 as a medicine available in Pakistan.
