Cal d3 calcium supplement with vitamin d3 tablets ## Hi, Treasure! Did you have a specific question about this supplement? Both Calcium and D3 are vital to your overall health, but they can also be dangerous if you take too much, so you do have to be careful. There are also certain medical conditions that they may be contraindicated with and certain medications they can affect, so you should always check with your doctor, before taking them. If you don't need, because you aren't deficient then it may not be the right thing for you to take, because the D3 will basically potentate the calcium, which makes it quite easy for you to develop hypercalcemia.

What does Arthri-D vitamin contain and where is it available? ## Hello, Sheila! How are you? It is available over the counter from various online retailers. It is listed as containing vitamin D3, n-acetyl-glucosamine, Turmeric, Boswella, Ashwagandha and Yucca. They claim that is helps alleviate arthritis pain, but that has never actually been proven. The company webpage lists the price as $79.99 a bottle. Is there anything else I can help with?

Is there anyway to find this without a prescription? ## Yes, this is just a vitamin and can be found at any health food store, and even most drug stores over the counter, and it's actually preferable to the prescription form. Your doctor is not doing you any favors prescribing you the prescription form of this vitamin. Please see the page on Prescription Vitamin D to see why you actually are better off with the over the counter form anyway. You can simply purchase Vitamin D3 (emphasis on the '3') at any health food store. 50,000 IU's per week is equivalent to approximately 7000 IU's per day. So just get an over the counter dosage that is the equivalent of 7000 IU's per day and take it daily instead of weekly. There is no downside to this, it's actually prefer...

My 18 yr.old daughter was diagnosed with a vitamin D defiency. After reading on line about vitamin D3, I wonder if they prescribed what is best for her, which was Drisdol 1.25 MG. Why 2 D2's and no D3? Would a good grade of cod liver oil be a better choice? ## If they prescribed her Drisdol, they did NOT prescribe her the best form of Vitamin D. The reason that they did not give her D3 is that D3 does not come in prescription form and, well, when you have a prescription pad, it's hard to tell your patient to go to the drug store and go buy something. People don't like paying for 'Drugs' and so doctors write a prescription. It's a two sided problem that will continue until people understand about d3 and doctors are willing to take the time to explain why they need ...

My doctor wants me to start vitamin D3 supplements. I’m on the low side in my Vitamin D levels. I was concerned if Vitamin D3 supplements could cause mania or depression because I’m Bipolar. I try not to take anything that will cause depression or mania. ## I didn't find anything listed about it doing so, and I think the biggest concern would be if you took far too much of it, so please make sure to take it exactly as directed by your doctor. You can learn more about Vitamin D here, and its possible side effects. Overall, it is considered safe in therapeutic doses. What medications are you currently taking? It does interact with some. ## I take lithium 900 mg a day, toprol xl 50 mg a day, and Ativan 1 mg a day.

Can people with bipolar illness take vitamin D supplements safely without becoming depressed or manic? I have bipolar illness and I can’t bring myself to take vitamin D because of the stories that I heard. ## Can a Vitamin D3 Supplement cause mania in a person with bipolar illness? I feel that I’m paying the price. Thank You

Doctor sent me some Vitamin D3 50000iu to take once a week. Is it OK to incorporate multivitamins to it? Since the multivitamin already has D3 1,000iu? ## Hello, Lyn! How are you? No, it would be best not to do that. Too much vitamin D may also be dangerous, though the risk is very minimal, but it's best to just take what your doctor has prescribed, unless they okay it for you to take more. Where you found to be low in it?

My mom have a vitamin D deficiency. My auntie just bought a MX Vitamin D that contains 1000 IUs of vitamin D3 cholecalciferol. Is this okay for a particular people who have a vitamin D deficiency? My auntie told that it will replenish my mom's body stores and nourish bones and immune system. Is it okay to take?? ## My girlfriend was also diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency. In most cases, taking a vitamin D supplement will be beneficial, however 1000 IU is a pretty low dose (odds are that the effects of 1000 IU won't be felt). Depending on how severe the deficiency is, most doctors or nutritionists would recommend around 50,000 IU per week to reverse the deficiency. This can be easily achieved however if you get at least 15-30min of sunshine a day with the addition of the supple...

Flat round white pill. Vitamin D3 1000 Unit. Pls describe what this will do and is the dose too much? ## Vitamin D supplementing can be essential for those who don't get enough sunlight. Vitamin D2 is a synthetic version of D3, so it is great that you have D3 instead of D2! Vitamin D insufficiency can result in thin, brittle, or misshapen bones, while sufficiency prevents rickets in children and osteomalacia in adults, and, together with calcium, helps to protect older adults from osteoporosis. Personally I supplement with Vitamin D3 2000 Unit. I have read that as much as 5000 Unit isn't overdosing, especially if you aren't in the sunlight very often. Hope this information helps! Please post back if you have any other questions or comments. ## During Crohn's illness or e...

Need to now how save Vitamin D2 50,000 IU is. ## First off, Vitamin D2 is a synthetic form of vitamin D. Want you want is Vitamin D3 if you are choosing the route of supplements. I suppose you can say both are synthetic since they are man made, but D3 is as close as it gets to actually getting sunlight. Do you live in an environment that doesn't provide much sunlight? I live in Portland, Oregon at the moment so I completely understand the lack of sunshine. But if you are fortunate enough to have a sunny environment, take advantage of it for at least 30 minutes a day and toss the supplements. In the world of nutrition, too much isn't a good thing. I think most people would agree that 50,000 IU is about 48,000 IU TOO much! Normal supplements of D3 contain 1,000-2,000 IU. Did you m...

Do you take this supplement at night or with meals? When are you supposed to take it? ## You should take vitamin d with some sort of fat- any meal is fine. But you should be aware that taking D2 is NOT the recommended form of Vitamin D. Please take a look at the page on Vitamin D3 to see why that is preferred. You may also be interested in taking a look at this page on Magnesium and Vitamin D to see why it's not the best idea to 'just' take large doses of Vitamin D without taking magnesium to prevent some of the adverse effects that can occur with large doses of Vitamin D. ## suspect Vit D2 overdose with 50,000 units prescribed ## I was very tired so my dr. took blood work and found out I was low on Vitamin D. I have been taking three D 500 CAL tablets per day for the last two years. This was prescribed to me for high PTH and low calcium. The condition is now normal. I have been told that this supplement will continue for maintenance. Is there any risk of kidney stone formation if I continue this dose? Will it be better if calcium carbonate is replaced by calcium citrate? ## is it possible that vit. d3 can cause miscarriage to a pregnant woman?

Is this capsule vitamin D3? It has an imprint on it of "NO20". It's from Fred's pharmacy in Gaston, SC. I filled my prescription but I can't find anything about it on the internet. ## It has been a while and I was just about to ask the same question. I filled my d3 50,000IU capsules and got the same pill. It must be some new form rather than the green gel capsules. ## I'd say if you got it filled at a licensed pharmacy (which seems to be the case) then it's more than likely to be what the label says it is, as there's a level of established trust that exists between patients and pharmacies that has to be actively maintained on their part. While I agree that mistakes do happen from time to time, seeing that post #1 also filled a prescription for the same ty...
