I have irritable bowel syndrome and end up with distended, miserable abdomen and the inability to go to the toilet at all. The first time I had this, I was living in France, diagnosed and treated with Debridat (Trimebutine) and Movicol (a stool softener). I was so happy to get rid of this miserable problem. Several times in the years I lived in Paris, I had to take this medicine, but always with excellent effect. Eventually, the maximum dose of Debridat per day (6 pills per day) had stopped being effective. Then, I discovered "graines de lin" made by Arkopharma, which you can buy in the pharmacy. What is the closest equivalent to Trimebutine in the US? I have a close friend that was stabilized and had excellent results with Trimebutine. However he can't find it in Egypt anymore... i was given this medication for intestinal problems i have my intestine very swollen is this mediation good for that ## Libertrim contains the active ingredient Trimebutine, this is commonly used to treat these types of conditions as it increases bowel motility and relieves symptoms such as bloating, diarrhea and abdominal pain. I was prescribed this med while in Mexico to alleve constipation of one week. BlueCross BlueShield Insurance says that "these services and supplies are not covered by the Retail Pharmacy Program". Is this an over-the-counter drug? or why were they able to deny coverage? ## Libertrim contains the active ingredient Trimebutine, which is used to treat various gastro-intestinal problems. My guess as to why they won't cover it would be because it is not an FDA approved medication and most U.S. based insurance companies will not cover medications that are not approved for use.
