Strong Pain Meds

I will be having wisdom teeth pulled. I would like to know what options are availiable for non narcotic pain relief. Preferably the strongest. I will be able to get a prescription, but I would like to avoid opiates or opioids. ## Wow, that's kind of difficult, because knocking out the opiates leaves only options for minimal pain relief. In many cases, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory would be prescribed, such as just a strong dose of Ibuprofen, but that can depend on how complicated the extractions are and how much you're bleeding afterwards. Hello, I have been taking one Oxycodone 10/325 three times a day along with 15mg of Morphine 3 times a day for a year now. I am now in need of something stronger for my chronic back pain. What would be recommended? Thanks! ## There are stronger doses of both available, though one would not contain the additional Acetaminophen, just the Oxycodone. Your doctor should be able to help you figure out what might work best and safest for you. The FDA does warn that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Has your doctor made any suggestions?

I'm a Parkland patient that's been diagnosed with degenerative facet arthritis. My MRI shows moderate stenosis in C3-4, 6,7. Mild disc bulge in C3-7. My PCP has scheduled an appointment with the Pain Management Dept. but the appointment isn't until September. I need some relief now. I have piroformis disease/ sciatica. I've been having problems with my lower back for about a year. Herniated disc L4/L5. Before the sciatica, I went to the ortho and he gave me tramadol which did nothing... So my primary doctor gave me hydro 7.5 #20 as needed since I was in a second car accident (back pains started from first accident)... I'm taking Norco 10/325 & soma 350mg twice a day. They no longer work. I have cronic lymes disease 5 year's now. Pain & fatigue migraines & a whole bunch of symptoms. I need something stronger. hi. I just started oxyneo 10mg. Says on the bottle once a day. When would be the best time? Day or night?? Anyone? ## It depends on what works best for you. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, and constipation. So, some people do take it at night, so the drowsiness and dizziness are not as strong in the morning. Did your doctor provide any specific instructions?

My insurance company did not give me a choice recently so my dr. & I had to make different optons for my PM. I was on: Oxycotin CR 60 mg. twice a day along with ~ up to 4 percecot daily, which was: 10/325 mg. Now, I've had to change to: Taking 3 Morphine Sul ER 30 mgs. with still taking up to 4 percecot daily. How does this compare? I'm still having more pain with this newly issue. I was recently stabbed 3 times while I was out for a morning jog. I'm in pain and it's hard for me to relax so I could get better. My doctor is close with my family so he doesn't want to give me the stronger meds I need. I think if he was stabbed he would understand. ## I need some kind of meds, Im In pain I can't sleep and these doctors don't want to prescribe me any thing, because there's a lot of immature people out there dying from taking to many. My Doctor Always Tells Me It Is The Nature Of All Pain Medications That After Taking Em For A While Effect U Got First Seems To Start Decline This Should Be Obvious As Body Gets Used Get Less And Then Need Stronger Dosage So On When Are They Gonna Create Med Keeps Working Everytime Take Without Having Increase Same Or Amount Relief ## Due to the way the human body works, the answer to your question is never, it isn't possible for them to create one that will do that. Your body will eventually get used to any thing that you ingest regularly, from a medication to your morning coffee and the effects it had at the beginning will start to wear off. I'm sorry about the problem he's had. However, it isn't wise to ask the doctor for any specific medication. That is often viewed as being drug seeking behavior and will make most doctor's reluctant to prescribe anything. If he needs a pain medication, he should speak to his doctor about what to do for that pain, without asking for any specific drug. Is there anything else I can help with?

My daughter had extensive surgery on her knee and Dr. has prescribed various pain meds but they cause nausea and she throws them up. Is there any new ones that might work that we can ask Dr. for, she's in a lot of pain. ## Hi, Peggy! How is she feeling? Virtually all strong pain medications can cause nausea, just due to how they affect the body. It would really make more sense for the doctor to prescribe her something to prevent the nausea. There are several good, strong prescription options available that are used for such a purpose. For instance, cancer patients often get severe nausea and vomiting from their treatments and can suffer severe weight loss, so a good preventative medication is needed.

A new pain pill exstinded relief that starts with and a not avinsa ## Hi Eddie, What about the name Astramorph? It too is another brand of Morphine like Avinza. However, the difference is that Astramorph is an inj./epidural. And while I'm not sure how new it is or how long the relief lasts, inj's. are typically a lot stronger than oral pain meds due to increased bioavailability. Unfortunately I haven't heard of any other pain meds that start with an 'A', but if anything I hope this at least helps narrow down your search.

I was prescribed Percocet in the hospital. In the hospital they were giving me 2 every 4 hours. I continued that at home. Today when I ran out I looked at the bottle and I was supposed to switch to one every 4 hours. They also prescribed Norco 5 for after I finished the Percocet, so since I didn't have any I started the Norco today. I am in pain and they aren't working. I didn't sleep at all last night. What do I do? ## You don't say what mg the Percocets were but Norco is a totally different medication, it is not as strong as the Percocets. In my experience Advil works better than Norcos. ## The percocets were 5 and the norcos are 5. I have had gastric bypass so I cannot take NSAIDS. I need pain Meds folks. It's that simple. I'm no addict. I've been suffering from severe Osteo arthritis for years and my doctor recently retired and now I'm stick dead in the water with no pain Meds. I was taking 5/325 oxy. No doctor will prescribe them now due to crackdowns and whatnot. Can anyone offer advice?? My back and neck got messed up in 2008. Ever sence I've been taking pain pills. If one doesn't work they give me stronger ones. Some of them I just really hated-made me feel like crap. I take zubsolv daily. Have been for years. Recently broke a bone and was prescribed pain meds that are opiates. How long should I wait to take one for pain and it work right? Hurting so bad. ## Just take the Zubsolv and don't bother with the 5mg Oxycodone or Vicodin that they will give you for the pain. The Beup in Zubsolve is a lot stronger than what they prescribe after surgeries. I broke a bone and had to be operated on.
