Strong Pain Meds
100+ Topics FoundI will be having wisdom teeth pulled. I would like to know what options are availiable for non narcotic pain relief. Preferably the strongest. I will be able to get a prescription, but I would like to avoid opiates or opioids. ## Wow, that's kind of difficult, because knocking out the opiates leaves only options for minimal pain relief. In many cases, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory would be prescribed, such as just a strong dose of Ibuprofen, but that can depend on how complicated the extractions are and how much you're bleeding afterwards. Learn more Ibuprofen details here. Are they being done in office, or as surgical extractions?
Hello, I have been taking one Oxycodone 10/325 three times a day along with 15mg of Morphine 3 times a day for a year now. I am now in need of something stronger for my chronic back pain. What would be recommended? Thanks! ## There are stronger doses of both available, though one would not contain the additional Acetaminophen, just the Oxycodone. Your doctor should be able to help you figure out what might work best and safest for you. The FDA does warn that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Has your doctor made any suggestions?
I'm a Parkland patient that's been diagnosed with degenerative facet arthritis. My MRI shows moderate stenosis in C3-4, 6,7. Mild disc bulge in C3-7. My PCP has scheduled an appointment with the Pain Management Dept. but the appointment isn't until September. I need some relief now. Is there anyone that will prescribe me something stronger than Tramado until I can get into the Pain Management Clinic? Please help. ## Dear Rick, Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I realize that you posted this back in May earlier this year, so I don't know if you managed to find a solution yet... However, concerning potential treatment options, unfortunately there's no way of knowing what any doctor is or isn't willing to prescribe ahead of time, since that is based on their own d...
have hepc got it though bodybuilding gh from china took steriods for 20 years had 6 surgerys open heart rotor cuff 4 inch tear neck both knees an ankle toren pec siezure disorder broke neck twice hernated desks in upper an lower back question pcd giveme perocet 10/325 40mgs a day same dosage 4 years doesnt seem like it works would it be ok to ask for something a little stronger an no tyenyol in it or just keep taking the perocet an take more otc pain meds thank you ## You should speak to your doctor. It is normal for your body to get used to dosage of any medication, when you have been taking it for a long time and for it not to work as well, anymore. In addition, the Acetaminophen can have a detrimental effect on the liver, so it could also be a good idea for you to be switched to some...
I have piroformis disease/ sciatica. I've been having problems with my lower back for about a year. Herniated disc L4/L5. Before the sciatica, I went to the ortho and he gave me tramadol which did nothing... So my primary doctor gave me hydro 7.5 #20 as needed since I was in a second car accident (back pains started from first accident)... The night of the doctor visit is when the sciatic nerve started to cause pain. I went to the ER because I have sharp pains in both buttocks, and all down my left leg. Both feet are numb and I can not move my toes. I went to the ER. They gave me a shot of morphine, which knocked down my pain level from a 10 to a 3. They prescribed me Tylenol w/ codiene 300-60mg. I haven't got it filled because it's a Sunday. When I go back to the doctor tom...
Filed under TramadolI have a herniated disc that is very paiful & I reside near Charlotte, NC. No Dr.'s won't to presfibe anything & it is getting old. I could use a Dr. That prescribes meds, for anxiety & not antidepressants. Please help if you are near Charotte, NC. Thank you JO
Filed under AnxietyI had 2 back surgeries in the last 2 years and the 1st failed(lumbar fusion), pain only gets worse and my doctor does not prescribe anything stronger than 5mg Oxycodones 4x day, I explained that they don't get the job done but he insists that this is the strongest he can go!!! Please help me, I am at Palm beach county but work in Broward so any of them work. Thanks ## You may want to consider a boston scientific spinal cord stimulator ... there are videos on YouTube by boston & several of those that had on implanted (djporkchop73 has 3 years of his experiences with his relationship & effects of his scs) I had one implanted in sept & my 30 day follow up appt is coming up.... there is a trial time of a few days that you wear on a belt (I was doing things I haven't been...
I'm taking Norco 10/325 & soma 350mg twice a day. They no longer work. I have cronic lymes disease 5 year's now. Pain & fatigue migraines & a whole bunch of symptoms. I need something stronger. I'm exhausted &can't work after 30 years in banking, I'm can't work anymore. What do you recommend for pain medication. I've done every thing thèy gave me to cure lymes nothing worked. I'm done. Just treat the pain. Help me! ## Percocet is slightly stronger. Fentanyl is a long term pain med without the highs and lows experienced with breakthrough drugs like Norco. Migraine meds, non narcotiv nerve meds like gabepentin, muscle relaxers like Valium, lots of choices! ## What M3sue has posted is correct, there are plenty of other options available....
hi. I just started oxyneo 10mg. Says on the bottle once a day. When would be the best time? Day or night?? Anyone? ## It depends on what works best for you. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, and constipation. So, some people do take it at night, so the drowsiness and dizziness are not as strong in the morning. Did your doctor provide any specific instructions?
My insurance company did not give me a choice recently so my dr. & I had to make different optons for my PM. I was on: Oxycotin CR 60 mg. twice a day along with ~ up to 4 percecot daily, which was: 10/325 mg. Now, I've had to change to: Taking 3 Morphine Sul ER 30 mgs. with still taking up to 4 percecot daily. How does this compare? I'm still having more pain with this newly issue. Should I be taking a stronger mg of the Morphinr Sul. I thought this was a much weaker strength than the Oxycotin cr. Can you explain this to me? Thank you in advance, Eva ## Hello, Eva! How are you? I'm so very sorry that you're in pain. Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so you'd need 90mgs of it to equal each 60mgs you were taking of the Oxycontin, which means...

I was recently stabbed 3 times while I was out for a morning jog. I'm in pain and it's hard for me to relax so I could get better. My doctor is close with my family so he doesn't want to give me the stronger meds I need. I think if he was stabbed he would understand. ## I need some kind of meds, Im In pain I can't sleep and these doctors don't want to prescribe me any thing, because there's a lot of immature people out there dying from taking to many. But I was stabbed 3 times by some people I don't know almost died don't know if they are going to come back for me. I have major problems can anyone help me out please
My Doctor Always Tells Me It Is The Nature Of All Pain Medications That After Taking Em For A While Effect U Got First Seems To Start Decline This Should Be Obvious As Body Gets Used Get Less And Then Need Stronger Dosage So On When Are They Gonna Create Med Keeps Working Everytime Take Without Having Increase Same Or Amount Relief ## Due to the way the human body works, the answer to your question is never, it isn't possible for them to create one that will do that. Your body will eventually get used to any thing that you ingest regularly, from a medication to your morning coffee and the effects it had at the beginning will start to wear off. If you want the same effects back, you'll always have to adjust the amount you take in, switch to something else, or take a break from it...
My husband has an abcess under his knee and it was cut and packed. What kind of pain meds should i ask for to help his pain once he goes home ## Hello, Yuvette! How is your husband doing? I'm sorry about the problem he's had. However, it isn't wise to ask the doctor for any specific medication. That is often viewed as being drug seeking behavior and will make most doctor's reluctant to prescribe anything. If he needs a pain medication, he should speak to his doctor about what to do for that pain, without asking for any specific drug. Is there anything else I can help with?
My daughter had extensive surgery on her knee and Dr. has prescribed various pain meds but they cause nausea and she throws them up. Is there any new ones that might work that we can ask Dr. for, she's in a lot of pain. ## Hi, Peggy! How is she feeling? Virtually all strong pain medications can cause nausea, just due to how they affect the body. It would really make more sense for the doctor to prescribe her something to prevent the nausea. There are several good, strong prescription options available that are used for such a purpose. For instance, cancer patients often get severe nausea and vomiting from their treatments and can suffer severe weight loss, so a good preventative medication is needed.
A new pain pill exstinded relief that starts with and a not avinsa ## Hi Eddie, What about the name Astramorph? It too is another brand of Morphine like Avinza. However, the difference is that Astramorph is an inj./epidural. And while I'm not sure how new it is or how long the relief lasts, inj's. are typically a lot stronger than oral pain meds due to increased bioavailability. Unfortunately I haven't heard of any other pain meds that start with an 'A', but if anything I hope this at least helps narrow down your search.
I was prescribed Percocet in the hospital. In the hospital they were giving me 2 every 4 hours. I continued that at home. Today when I ran out I looked at the bottle and I was supposed to switch to one every 4 hours. They also prescribed Norco 5 for after I finished the Percocet, so since I didn't have any I started the Norco today. I am in pain and they aren't working. I didn't sleep at all last night. What do I do? ## You don't say what mg the Percocets were but Norco is a totally different medication, it is not as strong as the Percocets. In my experience Advil works better than Norcos. ## The percocets were 5 and the norcos are 5. I have had gastric bypass so I cannot take NSAIDS. I did call the dr today and they are calling in flexeril. ## Please post back and let u...
I need pain Meds folks. It's that simple. I'm no addict. I've been suffering from severe Osteo arthritis for years and my doctor recently retired and now I'm stick dead in the water with no pain Meds. I was taking 5/325 oxy. No doctor will prescribe them now due to crackdowns and whatnot. Can anyone offer advice?? This level of pain is ridiculous!!! ## You will need to go to a dr, don't ask for a specific med and maybe after they have seen you several times they might prescribe what you've been taking, but there are no guarantees. A new dr will want to get a copy of your medical records. ## Thanks for your message but I have tried all of that seven or eight different times over the past two months it is quite difficult to find a doctor that will prescribe this st...
My back and neck got messed up in 2008. Ever sence I've been taking pain pills. If one doesn't work they give me stronger ones. Some of them I just really hated-made me feel like crap. So what do I do? I've had neurosurgeon treatments, physical therapy, walking, bed rest. I just frickin hurt and I'm sick of it. ## Hello, Katy! How are you feeling? I am very sorry about the problem that you're having. Have you tried chiropractic therapy? Or perhaps acupuncture? They do successfully help some people, so they may be options you can explore. What medications do you take? With those, it's really a matter of just trying to various ones, until you find what works for you, without making you miserable. Does anyone else have any advice to add? ## They also have Psychologi...
I take zubsolv daily. Have been for years. Recently broke a bone and was prescribed pain meds that are opiates. How long should I wait to take one for pain and it work right? Hurting so bad. ## Just take the Zubsolv and don't bother with the 5mg Oxycodone or Vicodin that they will give you for the pain. The Beup in Zubsolve is a lot stronger than what they prescribe after surgeries. I broke a bone and had to be operated on. I didn't tell them about my history so when I came to after the procedure, I was thrashing around in my hospital bed because the amount of pain I was in. The meds they gave me would suffice for a normal person and not an abuser. The Zubsolv will hepl with the pain for sure. I have had back pain for 10 years and feel fine on Zubsolv. Also if you do decide to t...
