I have a terrible problem of retaining fluid during the day where to the point I can gain 5 kg as I only urinate once or twice after consuming at least 2 1/2 litre of water per day. My doctor prescribed me spiractin and frusemide at different times, he didnt tell me to take them concurrently, so I was wondering if it I could take these both during the day for the duiretic needs to stop from gaining so much fluid weight during the day without causing any side effects. My potassium levels are fine but my kidneys have slowed a bit owing to age. As I have lost a total weight of 80kg over the past two years and have worked hard to maintain it, I am a bit reticent to stop taking these tablets as I do not want to gain any of the weight I have lost. I attended a vascular surgeon to see if an op...

Spironolactone - A tablet for congestive heart failure ## I have PCOS and I am taking metformin for it but my physician gave me a prescription for Spironolactone for the facial hair. Will this eliminate the facial hair and should I be worried about losing my hair on my head? I am also worried about the side effects of diarrhea as the metformin already upsets my stomach. ## Spironolactone is a potassium sparing diuretic, and an aldosterone agonist, so it is used to help remove fluid from the body, to treat conditions such as congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, edema, and yes, it can also help with excess facial hair, or hirsutism. No, it should not cause hair loss on your head. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, headache, increased urination, ...

Dear Sir I have been taking the above medication: Concor and Lamictin over a long period and Spiractin for about one year. I have a constant cough, non-productive at most times, joint pains, sleepiness, vision distortion sometimes, loss of balance and excessive weight gain. I have minor problems with itchiness of my skin and eyes. No treatment has been successful for the constant cough which is interfering with my lifestyle. I would sincerely appreciate your help as I have visited my Doctor several times and now will need a bronchoscopy which I want to avoid if possible. Thank you very much ## Concor contains the active ingredient Bisoprolol, which is a beta blocker and it is most likely the culprit for the symptoms you're experiencing. My husband has Alzheimers and became combative at the Memory Care Facility where he lives. They sent him to the hospital which sent him spiraling down to probably late stage ALZ now. They kept him on lots of haldol for about 2 weeks. He couldn't walk anymore, didn't talk, couldn't feed himself and rarely opened his eyes. After trying other meds, they put him on Depakote. He remained there for another 2 weeks weaning off the Haldol and then went back to the facility. He was still in withdrawal and it took another month to get it all out of his system. But as soon as he returned they put him on Depakote only. 1000mg at night, now changed to 250 in the morning and 1000 at night. He is now awake, talking and no longer combative. He just gets agitated when they need to change his...

I've been on 12mg/day sub for 6 plus years and hate this demon drug. My life is a mess and I desperately want to get off this slow ugly spiral. Anyway here is my situation: my doctor retires in December and i don't want to find another one, so is it possible to taper off 12mg to 0 successfully between now and then? I haven't asked to taper before now out of fear. Before I went back to 12mg 6yrs ago I tried a slow taper and it failed. I think I'm ready now, I hate this drug with a passion. Is it possible?? ## Yes, it is possible, whether or not it will work for you, however, is a different matter entirely. Some people are able to stop such a medication cold turkey, or via a very rapid taper, with no major problems, it really depends on the person. Have you spoken to your ...

I have been on sertraline by Greenstone for a few years with great results. My pharmacy switched me to aurobindo sertraline and I have been on a downward spiral. I am having severe anxiety, insomnia, jittery, extremely tired, verbally agressive and just not feeling good. Have you received any complaints regarding sertraline by Aurobindo. Why doesn't the pharmacy inform us when they change manufactors? And do you have any information ,questions or complaints regarding sertraline by Cipla USA. Please reply. PLEASE AND THANK YOU....... ## They should inform you, while they are not required to do so, most pharmacy's will let you know that the new pills are different from your old ones, but they contain the same ingredient. I've been taking Bupropion SR 150 mg made by Sandoz - successfully. My mail order Rx service arbitrarily changed me to one made by Anchin. I feel I'm spiraling down. can there be that much difference in brands? ## Hi KayS, I'm sorry to hear that the mail order Rx service changed your prescription without notice. I've heard of that happening to many others on the site, I can only imagine the frustration. If there is any difference between the pills, it would most likely just be the "inactive" ingredients that were used. That may or may not cause any issues- but if it does you will definitely want to talk to the Mail order service and a let them know what has happened. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Bupropion Details I hope my reply is helpful, ...

My husband was prescribed Oxybutynin over two weeks ago, after a week the dose was increased to two tablets a day. He has Parkinson's disease and takes Sinemet and Ropineral. Over the past few days, his Parkinson's which was controlled has now spiraled to the point where his mobility and tremors are badly affected. Could this be connected to the Oxybutynin? This condition worsens as the day progresses. ## Yes, the NCBI actually does report that is has been known to worsen cognitive function in those that have Parkinson's. This has also been noted in studies by other groups, such as SafeRX, and some government clinical trials. What dosage is he currently taking? Why was it prescribed and what other medications does he take?

Hi, I am going through a very tough separation from my wife I still deeply love from the bottom of my heart. We have two little children, the thought of losing it all, the feeling of having failed at what is most important in my life has made me spiral into a deep depression. My doctor started with Lexapro 10mg once a day and Diazepam 5 mg twice a day. Since I was still having anxiety and panic attacks almost daily, my doctor put me on 20 mg of Lexapro once a day and 10 mg of Diazepam twice a day. I feel much better but the panic attacks and feeling of falling off a cliff are still happening daily. I don’t know what to do. Ask to increase the dosage? I am just starting to see a counselor, unfortunately getting someone approved by my health Insurance could see me took a few weeks. ...

Until monday, my life for 6 years has been AFIB hell. I was one of the first 400 test subjects and it worked. They cut off my supply at the end of 14 months, and my heart &body was able to function for an extra 9 months, Without meds, I spiralled into walking death, in the interest of FDA policy. 5 zappings without Multaq only fried my chest and back over the 6 year embargo. Finally, the FDA approvoed, and a couple of months later the U.S. VA ordered me a supply of newly remaned MULTAQ. I took it dutifully for almost a year, and then a smart cardio doc at the VA scheduled a new electro-zap. Miracle of miracles...It worked! After six years of very miserable AF, with maybe a THIRD only of normal circulation, I woke up beating textbook NSR. In the intrim my feet had swollen over the ye...
