what are some of the side affects of chantix? Does it cause suicidal thoughts? Does it work? ## It does not work for everyone, however, it has proved beneficial for some people. Yes, in some people it can cause suicidal thoughts. Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, headache, difficulty sleeping and constipation. ## Get on forums and read the side effects of Chantix before taking. It can cause suicidal thoughts among many other terrible things. I have taken it and consider myself one of the lucky ones for having read the information and stopping it soon enough. I also have quit smoking. I have researched extensively in search of my own cure of side effects from Chantix and I highly recommed taking a good multivitamin and COQ10 while taking the Chantix and after. Also, a...

The statement I just read said smoking pot would decrease your IQ. This is not true, a family member smoked it for years & is still as quick, bright & intelligent. I do not approve of it, but you accept what you cannot change. ## I also agree with you Anna. I have a relative who's been smoking mary jane for the past 40 years and he's still very vibrant and witty for his age. Perhaps a small percentage of people out there are negatively affected by it's qualities, but nothing too out of the ordinary i'd imagine. how can u smoke them effectively? ## There is no effective way to do it without doing severe damage to your lungs and other organs. If you're ok with that, then there are probably many ways to do it. That is just my opinion based on facts and I know you're going to do what you plan on doing regardless of my opinion, but for a more precise answer to your question there is another thread on this forum that offers more information on this topic: I hope this helps!

Im looking for a list of drugs to quit smoking. Thank you ## I don't know all of them but the first ones that come to mind are the family of Bupropion such as Zyban, Wellbutrin, etc. ## These "how to quit smoking" findings are incredible! I really believe that these tips and devices can help smoking cessation. I particularly have found a brilliant way to stop smoking definitively. This is called Autogenic Training. It's not my invention. It is an Audio Program. It has lots of research to support the achievements of the method. In this method you will train yourselves to relax while reprogramming your brain in the way to stop smoking. It is kind of self anti smoking hypnosis. These techniques helped me to stop drinking alcohol. I really think that Autogenic Training will ...

I just began taking Chantex yesterday 2/18/07. I was told to continue to smoke for the 1st week and quit 1 week later. That will mean my quit date is Sunday, 2/25/07. I am a 1 1/2 pack a day smoker and I'm not quite sure this will work for me. When does the urge start to go away? I heard from a friend that if she tries to smoke, she gets very nauseas. I wish this would happen to me so I won't want to smoke but it doesn't. Will it by the 2nd week? I have smoked for almost 30 years, I can't imagine this even working but i've heard so many people having success with it, I thought i have to try it. I don't believe that any others i've known to have success with this drug had smoked as much as myself. Am I suppose to be cutting down this 1st week? How long does it...

I took Chatix a few years ago and quit for almost two years. Then I started smoking again. I went back on Chantix - when I was ready for the second package my doctor was away but I had some left from the last time (they were expired by 6 months) so I have been taking them - it is day 39 and Im still smoking - I missed several doses during this time - forgot to take 1 pill here and there - I don't want to start all over - can I just start the new rx (the second pack - which I just had refilled) and pick a quit date within the week??? suggestions ## Hello, Emilia! How are you? What has your doctor advised? I really don't think you'd need to fully start over, but that is up to your physician. As to still smoking, the medication can't do it all, you do have to try to stop, a...

Is the daytime pill the same as the nightime pill with Champex. My husband has taken the daytime but has the nightime left. Can he use these during the day. ThNKS ## They are the same exact dosage, it is just taken twice daily, once in the morning and once at night, to help try and beat the craving to smoke, after the second week of use. In the U.S. Champix is sold under the brand name Chantix and you can read more on it here: Do you have any other questions?

Having some trouble staying quit, but am dealing with it! So far , the only symptoms I've had from Chantix are the dreams, and being unfocused, but not so bad. ## There are a lot of individuals who report some horrible side effects from Chantix, but it sounds like your doing great! Have you experienced any bad side effects from this drug? My dad has been smoking for over 40 years, but he decided to cold turkey it just this year and stick it out. He had about a week or so of cold-like symptoms and sleeping it off, but now it has been 7 weeks and he hasn't craved or touched a cig since! And after 40+ years of chronic smoking, that's really saying something. I'm only mentioning this in light of letting others know that going cold turkey on smoking cigs is possible and is al...

My Dad had COPD and died from having emphysema. I was shocked to find out that the Army supplied free cigarettes to these young recruits in the 1950's . Have there been any legal implications in this regard ? ## I have since found out that because my Dad was 17 when he joined up that he was a minor , which means the military were responsible for his welfare and therefore this may be classed as Service Connected COPD Has anyone else come across a similar situation .

I smoked on Chantix till the end of week 7 then during the start of week 8 I no longer had the desire to smoke. I know a lot of bad side effects have hit a lot of people but it worked for me. I thought I would never quit smoking. ## Congrats, Tom! I'm very glad that it worked for you and it's fantastic of you to post and share your positive experience with others. Most of the posts made online are only done when someone has had a problem with a medication, the positive experiences are rarely mentioned. How long were you a smoker and how long have you been smoke free, now? For anyone seeking information, Chantix is used to aid in smoking cessation, but yes some people do experience problematic side effects from it, such as nausea, weight changes, abdominal pain and severe constip...

How has this medication worked for other people? ## I have been on Tabex for ten days and I am still smoking. I should have stopped by now. Has anyone else been in the same boat? ## This is where they say please do not light a cigarette again. When I stopped I took it a bit further. I said a smoke will never touch my lips again, and it never did. This is a decision that I have made in 1993. It worked for me. Please try it while using Tabex. ## I have tried it and its fantastic, have tried quitting so many times and stopped without cravings. ## I stopped smoking by using Tabex, and I have been smoke free for 3 months now. I had stopped by using Chantix a few years ago, but I started again when several life events led me to borrow a cigarette from a friend. That was all it took! After smo...

Hi, I recently started the nur-isterate injection. I had my first injection late august and my due day to get it again is next week. I have unprotected intercourse due to being protected and it being more spontaneous in the moment. I have been experiencing breast pain and nausea the last week. I'm not sure if it's the nur-isterate wearing off or symptoms of me having stopped smoking. I stopped smoking about two weeks ago. I stopped smoking because I was sick and wasn't getting better even after being on antibiotics. Any advice if it's possible for me to be pregnant or just symptoms from having stopped smoking? ## Hello, Laura! Those are not typical symptoms of having stopped smoking. It is most likely due to the injection wearing off, but there is also a chance that it m...

I have been a smoker for 54 years and have tried everything over the counter to stop smoking including acupuncture. Nothing worked for me. I realize you have to be committed to quit and I really was this time. My last cigarette was May 17th with Chantix. There have been no ill effects so far and I don't expect any. At times I still have cravings but I keep telling myself "you've come this far, don't go back now." I will be 72 next month and the best gift I can give myself as well as my family is to never smoke again!! ## Congratulations, Gram! That is so awesome!!! Seniors can be more sensitive to the side effects of medications and may experience them more intensely, as reported by the FDA, so if you do start to experience any adverse effects, including depression o...

I wanted to see if anyone can tell me the known side effects with smoking majiuana and taking lamictal, if any. I have been trying to get info on this for about 2 months and can not seem to get anything back on it. Of course my doctor and counselor says tht it is not good to do ANY drugs...but I have to be honest, I smoke and dont plan on stopping...so I would like to know what to expect when these two are combined. Thank you and I would love to hear a responce about this. By the way, I do not smoke alone so I need to know what to expect so I can educate my husband. Thank you again, Leilani ## I could provide you with an answer, however, our site is not here to help someone abuse drugs or any type, or assist them in using illegal drugs. How long do I need to wait after I smoked a cigarette to take Zubsolv? I know the nicotine can block the Suboxone due to the same thing they attached to in the brain. I was told 20 for Suboxone. What is the time on Zubsolv? ## Hi Natalie, According to Northland Addiction Treatment Rehab Center in Milford, Ohio - Patients should refrain from eating, drinking, or smoking for 30 minutes before taking Suboxone as well as 30 minutes after taking Suboxone. From what they've stated, food, beverages or nicotine/tobacco can seriously impair the absorption of Suboxone. I have been prescribed Lexamil 10mg which I started taking today. My GP prescribed it for a month. I am a smoker and just want to know if I can smoke while taking Lexamil? I do want to stop but I need to get my anxiety and depression under control first. ## Hello, Danz! How are you? There is nothing saying that you must stop smoking, while taking this medication. You are well aware, I'm sure how bad it is for your health and will stop, once you are feeling better. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. Just make sure your doctor is aware that you smoke and how much. Is there anything else I can help with?

I started taking Bupropion a week ago and I quit smoking after 9 years. This works! ## Congrats James, great to hear a success story! Did you find the process pretty easy to follow, and do you have to taper down your dose at all before stopping completely? Also, what's your plan to permanently stay off the cigarettes once you are off the medication? Wishing you the best with this! ## Thank you Roy!!! Still on the medication but almost finished have no urge to smoke. Once finished will reply and let you know how it goes. I feel if I stopped taking this now I would not have an urge to smoke. Urge feels like it is gone. :) Will keep you updated my friend. ## That's great, hopefully the urge will not return once you stop taking the bupropion. But maybe have some ideas lined up for h...
