Chantix does work--But it would be nice if someone had told me the terrible side effects that can happen. Side effects that a person must live with for the rest of their lives. RLS is a terrible side effect that does NOT go away after you stop taking Chantix. It effects every moment of of your life waking and sleeping! I'm not saying no one should use Chantix but if I had known the serious side effects that can be life altering I don't think I would have taken that risk. It is my 3rd day with no sleep due to RLS. I lost my job of 20 years, because I can't function on 3-4 hours of sleep in 48 hours. I just think people need to know what they may be risking before they decide to start Chantix thats all. ## Be aware people - I am fairly young and all of a sudden I developed thi...

I have not bad problems with this pill at all. It actually has calmed my RLS. It took a few days but my RLS is under control. Mind over Matter baby. I dont Mind cuz it doesn't Matter ## I took klonopin 1 mg 2 times daily for 18 yrs. for anxiety. I came off of this 4 yrs. ago due to job loss and no insurance. I started having RLS symptoms which have become worse this last year. A neurologist prescribed Mirapex. I had extremely bad insomnia. Last week my doctor changed my scrip to Requip. The nausea, vomiting & headaches are terrible. I also get fatigued very fast. I will no longer take these 2 drugs. I have left my doctor to call me today. I want to go back on klonopin which evidently worked for me for anxiety. Plus I never knew I had RLS until I came off of it. I have read somne...

I had been on a lot of opioid medication for several years and Seroquel at night for sleep. Two years ago I got off the pain meds but continued the Seroquel. Over the course of a couple of of months I developed worsening involuntary twitching and jerking of my legs at night. One afternoon I sat down to pay some bills and couldn’t even see right or sit still. I went to ER and they gave me some Ativan which put me back to normal for a few hours. The same symptoms continued. I looked back thru my daily journal and figured out the twitching and jerking started about 30 min after I took the Seroquel at night. I stopped the Seroquel for 6 nights and the movements went away. I took it on the 7th nite and it all came back with a vengeance. I stopped the Seroquel and have not had the probl...

I was on methadone for 13 years for cronic pain but I also have severe RLS and methadone took care of both and gave me my life back but then. My doctor quit without telling anyone and all of a sudden my meds were gone. I was off of methadone all of a sudden with no problems at all and no withdrawal at all. I don't understand why others would have that problem but now I am back in terrible pain and my RLS will not let me sleep more then two hours at a time. I go to a pain clinic but all they will give me is lortab or higher and it helps for 4 hours but I don't like taking it at all. It can hurt your liver. I want my methadone back and I don't think it is fair that because some people abuse it the ones that need it can't get it. I never had to increase my dose and I never ...

Hello again Requip Forum: I have asked questions before on this forum (Requip changed from 2 mg to 4 mg - and I was very sick). Well, the doc changed me to 3 mg. Not sick anymore, guess the 4 mg was just to strong for me. Anyways, it's great the 3 mg does not make me sick but good grief, I am wide awake at 2:00 a.m. because the drug has worn off. Does Requip make a controlled release by chance? I am so very frustrated - it seems I am constantly switching strengths and each strenth is short lived. Now is this something that I am just going to have to deal with. ## I am wondering about the sleep thing. I take Requip for RLS and it helps till I wake up wide awake and cant fall back to sleep, at 130am I am ready to start the day and thats not good! Other than that I think it does great!...

Have been on requip for about 8 weeks. Started off with 2 mg and am up to 4 mg per day. The requip stops the RLS for me but makes me so sick to my stomach. Even in the mornings I wake up and feel the need to vomit. Is it going to get better? ## Sure you're not pregnant? Only kidding! Unfortunately, that is one of the number one side effects, but it really will get better. How long have you been on the 4mg? That would make a difference because it can take up to 2 months for the nausea to subside after getting to a new dose. ## Have only been on the 4 mg for about two weeks now. I noticed the 2 mg at the end of the 4th or 5th week was starting to make me sick to my stomach. Oh NO, I am not pregnant - god forbid - hahahahha. Well, this is good news that the nausea will subside after aw...

Can Neurontin help with Restless Leg Syndrome? ## I have heard that it has helped some people and I know the company is now working on a new derivative of it to treat RLS, but at this time it is not approved to treat it. ## I Have Just Started Taking Neurontin, And I Find It Has Helped With RLS, I Also Found That I have Been Having More Headaches.

Why would this medicine help RLS and insomnia? I have been taking the max allowed of ropinirole for RLS, but RLS is getting worse. When I am walking the floors, in pain and can't be still, I would try anything. I remembered this medicine I had from Breast Cancer Surgery; I took one. I went to sleep almost immediately. The second night, the same thing. The ropinirole is not working. I took another one. I went to sleep. Slept all night, woke up felt great. What is going on? Tonight instead of starting the ropinirole, I decided to try one of these Oxycod/apap pills 5 to 325 mg. (?) . Anyway, I feel fine. I have not had any restlessness. i am able to sit still and watch TV. This can't continue, as no doctor is going to prescribe oxycod/apap. Why is the roprinirole not working. I cou...

Will this pill help with rls. I need relief so badly right now. From h addiction. ## This capsule is manufactured by Amneal Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 300mgs of Gabapentin. The FDA classifies this medication as an anticonvulsant that is also used to treat certain types of mood disorders and nerve pain. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings and weight gain. It has been used to treat RLS, but it will take several weeks to reach its full level of efficacy in your body and will not have an immediate effect. Has it been prescribed for you?

Will meloxicam help restless leg syndrome. ## Hello, Robin! How are you? No, it most likely will not. The FDA classifies Meloxicam as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that's used to treat pain, fever and swelling. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, stomach pain, increased risk of bleeding and headache. Did your doctor prescribe it for that? ## I take 200 mg tramadol a day for four years now I am trying to taper off I have stopped before then started back because the depression I experienced for months after I had stopped but the last time I stopped I quit cold turkey and it was horrible with rls. will tapering off be easier and will I still experience the depression after?

I was just given a prescription for gabapentin 300mg 90 minutes before bedtime. Can increase 300mg every night to a max of 1200. This increase is weekly. I have symptoms of restless leg syndrome but my problem is much more than RLS. I have heavy legs and problems with balance. I was on Requip with some help to the symptoms but developed compulsive gambling problem. Is anyone else in a similar situation or have any advice for me as to what to expect. I have had this problem for over 5 years. It started with just kinda stubbing your toe as I walked and progressed to turing to walk a certain direction and my upper body moved but my legs did not follow. Hello I have been taking higher and higher doses of Lyrica, now up to 450mg, but I still wake up with that urge to get out of bed. I am back to taking Ultram 50mgX2 as it works without the nausea side effect of Requip. my insurance makes me pay $100 for the RX. Dear doctors, the sensation to get up is the same sensation I feel if I take an antihistamine more than one day. I am very sleepy but I am not allowed to fall asleep. Why does the body do this when I lay down to go to sleep, weight transfer, spine pressure on a nerve? Whats the deal? ## Hello, Matt! How are you doing? I'm sorry that you're having such problems. I've had severe RLS for 40 years and over the years have tried everything. Sinemet worked well for years, then augmentation and rebound set in. Requip didn't help. Have tried at varying times: darvocet, fentanyl, valium, klonopin. Finally found relief about 7 years ago with Methadone 10 mg twice daily and am able to rest at night and function well at work. I am moving to San Francisco in a week and will need a doctor to prescribe. Does anyone know a doctor who understands RLS or a pain doctor that will Rx opioid longterm? Thank you.

I've been on suboxone for about 8 months. Starting dosage was 2 -8mg a day.after months I've tapered down to about .50-.30mg very very small piece and been on that for a month, it's not as bad but I'm still tired and get light heat flashes. Any thoughts on what I should do from here? ## Is your intention to fully get off of Suboxone anytime soon? If so, I think you're certainly on the right track. Usually for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces can be taken in place of the regular dose for a period of several weeks until the body is no longer dependent upon them. Based on the amount you're taking now, I'd say your just about out of the woods! Another user on here ...

I have RLS and it's getting worse. I was taking .25 mg. 3x Day along with gabapentin. I still take gabapentin. My neurologis had me try Requip 2 mg at bedtime but my ins. co. won't cover it. He has now prescribed carbidopa Levo to take one at bedtime. I've done this for two nights and have not slept a skidget! Also, the RLS is in full bloom even after taking this. Maybe because I'm awake? RLS isn't fatal but my goodness it's enough to drive me to drink. Is there a connection? What would be the next medication? ## I don't know if this will help you but it sure has helped many people with RLS.
