I have tapered off 100mcg plus 100 mg Kapanol plus Ordine. I got down to about 7mg morphine a day but the pain got so bad I had to go back on 20 mg Kapanol / day. Does any one know of an alternative way of relieving pain without opiates and drugs please? I have started investigating neuroplasticity and pain and have asked my GP about intrathecal pumps which deliver pain medication directly into the damaged area of the spine. If I keep using Kapanol my tolerance will increase rapidly and I will finish up in the same mess as I used to be due to addiction and CNS changes ## Have you considered trying other medications that aren't so habit forming? There are several available, including Gabapentin and Pregabalin, both are anticonvulsants that have been shown to help with certain types o...

Recently had surgery and have developed allergy to acetominophen. Doctor does not want me to take ibuprofen, Aleve, or ASA. What are my choices?? Tramadol does not provide any pain relief. ## There are other NSAIDs on the market that you might be able to try. You can learn more about them here: There are also many opiates available, without being coupled with any of the medications you listed, you can learn about them and the available options here: Another over the counter option might be Naproxen, but I recommend also checking with your doctor, before taking it: Did your doctor make any suggestions?

I have moderate to severe Degenerative Disc Disease of Cervical Spine with severe narrowing (stenosis) along with bulging and herniated discs with severe arthritis (osteo) also in cervical spine with boney spurs. I also have Fibromyalgia, Chronic Myofascial Pain Syndrome ad Chronic Fatigue. My pain management doc has done many different procedures, non giving much relief and no long term relief. She has told me there is nothing more she can do. So, I need a Primary Care Doctor who will take over writing my Morphine and Muscle Relaxer. My current Primary Care doctor said she trusted me totally but could not write RX for opiates. I need help. I will not be able to function without some pain meds. I live in Gen Allen, a Richmond, VA suburb. Please helpp. Thank you. ## Hello, Katharine! Sor...

Having problems with these doing much for relief. Tying to come back from cancer and other medical problems. Here they are just aspirin. ## Hi Larry, Will they not prescribe you anything else but this mid-level Vicodin? I find it odd that patients without such conditions have access to much stronger pain medications. Although I wouldn't wish those addicting opiates on anyone, sometimes intervention is necessary to get the initial relief you need. If your doctor is unwilling to prescribe what you feel you need, then it may be time to switch doctors to someone who specializes in pain management. The odds of getting a stronger medication are higher through a pain management doctor, since they focus most of their attention on pain, as opposed to a general M.D. I hope this helps! ## Hydr...

Someone I know took one sliver of a suboxone, but had never taken it before. It was to help them get through a day without pain meds. How long till they can take a 30mg dose of regular medication for pain relief? ## Hello, Nickels! How are you? About 72 hours, due to the Naloxone in the Suboxone, it takes that long for it to stop blocking other opiates. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Where can I get only 2, @ 8.2 mg of sub's until I see my doctor tomorrow Tue evening!! I forgot (3) in hotel & left forgetting them started to panic. Can feel WD coming on right now 1 day without. I hat...

I have been on methadone for over a year. My dr got arrested, now I'm out of my meds and I don't know what to do. I'm going through withdrawal and it sucks. My primary dr will not prescribe it. I am in so much pain, I'm starting to lose my mind. ## They never should have prescribed methadone for you. Not for pain relief. That's probably why the doc got arrested. Methadone is used to get people off opiates. But now your addicted to methadone. Get off that drug. You'll be a slave to it and can't live without it. You'll wind up in a methadone clinic. If you do, detox asap.

What is the normal dose for tramadol hcl 50mg? I am taking utter prn tid for severe back pain. I have taken 75mg before I got relief. ## Tramadol became a Schedule IV August 18, 2014. Under Federal Law, a dr can write refills and can call it in. There are no restrictions on how often you must see your dr. But, your dr can have you come in as often as he wants and he doesn't have to give refills or call it in. ## The interesting thing about Tramadol is the fiasco of its creation. LOL Originally, the intent was to try to create a medication that would have the pain relieving properties of opiates, without having the addictive tendencies, and all the side effects, however, what they ended up with is a mild pain reliever that can still be habit forming, and is only a moderate level anal...
