When I was in my early 30's and was diagnosed with IBS, I was prescribed paragoric for my severe colon spasms. It worked!! I am 65 now and still experience severe episodes of IBS. taking paragoric as a child for many years , 1 or 2 T each day, whenever my mom felt I needed. Now I have colitis, severe headaches. stomach problems, constipation and overall have never felt in good health. ## this site is not medical professionals, so we can't possibly say for certain that any medication caused these problems, though it is possible, many do have detrimental effects with long-term usage. Have you spoken to a doctor? It is also very important to rule out other things, such as other health conditions, that may be causing these issues.

My pharmacist said paregoric is backordered and don't know when or if it will come in. I've taken it for over 40 years for colon problems. I have a prescription for it. Is there any place I can purchase paregoric? ## It is not backordered, Paragoric has actually been withdrawn from the market, because it was actually an Opium based medication and is not considered safe by the FDA.
