gemcal ds is prescribed by my doctor for osteoporosis for lower back pain . is it worth taking . ## This is actually just a multivitamin supplement, the regular Gemcal contains Calcitrol, Calcium and Zinc, I would guess that the DS formulation also contains something else, but I can't find any specific information on it. It will not actually treat pain, but by supplementing these vital minerals, especially the calcium, it might help prevent worsening of the Osteoporosis. Are there any other questions? ## It looks like Gemcal DS is actually supposed to contain Calcium Carbonate 1250 mg + Calcitriol 0.25 mcg, typically prescribed for osteoporosis. So it sounds similar to the regular Gemcal, but does vary in its formulation. ## I used to take gemcal ds for 1month that tym it dint pain ...

CIPCAL-500 is a product containing Calcium and Vitamin D.What are the benefits and disadvantages of taking one tablet daily for one month? ## Vitamin D promotes calcium absorption in the gut and maintains adequate serum calcium and phosphate concentrations to enable normal mineralization of bone and to prevent hypocalcemic tetany. Without sufficient vitamin D, bones can become thin, brittle, or misshapen. Vitamin D sufficiency prevents rickets in children and osteomalacia in adults. Together with calcium, vitamin D also helps protect older adults from osteoporosis. The only reason to supplement calcium and vitamin D in my opinion, is if you're not getting at least 30min to an hour of sunlight each and everyday. Also if your not getting enough calcium in your diet then having it with...

What is the prescription strength of calcium gluconate gel verses non-prescription strength. This is in reference to OSHA injury recordability. ## According to the manufacturer's webpage, you don't need a prescription to purchase Calgonate products, including calcium gluconate gel. Ref: calgonate.com/faq.php Regarding the dosage, 2.5% appears to be the only dosage available for the topical gel (at least from what I could gather). Other sites like amazon sell Durvet Fluids Calcium Gluconate 23% 500ml, but it is not in topical form. I hope this info helps!
