I currently take very high dosages of oxycodone 30mg ir and dilaudid 8mg. I think after the process of elimination that my body isn't tolerating the morphine (dilaudid) and I've been on oxy for years. I was on 80mg oc before the op and couldn't tolerate new op because of binder I wasn't getting the needed meds. I need to go off of the dilaudid going to dr tomorrow, I want to be educated and know if I switch over to only oxycodone is it reasonable to ask for the equivalent of oxy to the dilaudid in addition to the amount of oxy I am currently taking? Thank you and FYI I take 90mg oxy 4x day and 16mg dilaudid 4x day and I stagger so that pain is controlled round the clock. Thank you ps what I woul like is oxy equal to dilaudid dosage. ## Dialudid contains Hydromorphone, it...

Although most won't because they don't make any money of they don't see the patient. Put state of ohio and schedule II restrictions in your search bar. That should give you the info regarding your state laws. Or you can go to the Ohio Board of Pharmacy website. ## New regulations were put in place last year restricting wh...

How do you get off of opiates? ## Although I would recommend that your doctor be the one who sets up & monitors your tapering dosage, usually for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off them, if possible. Some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces can be taken in place of the regular dose for a period of several weeks until the body is no longer dependent upon them. In my opinion, another key component to weaning off is to make yourself a tapering schedule on a calendar in order track your progress and keep you on the right path to complete your goal within a specific time frame. Without a way to track your progress, tapering can sometimes be much more difficult than it needs to be. I hope this advice he...
Are there any doctors in Pinellas County Florida who take the Florida State insurance (blue card) who can help me get off of opiates? ## Hello, Susan! How are you? The Suboxone website has a search engine that lets you search by zip code for doctors in your area that treat with it. You can find it at Suboxone.com click here, and their contact information will be included, so you can call to see what insurance they accept and if they are accepting new patients. The FDA classifies Suboxone as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Opioid dependence is a medical diagnosis characterized by an individual's inability to stop using opioids (morphine, heroin, codeine, oxycodone, hydrocodone, etc.) even when objectively it is in his or her best interest to do so. In 1964 the WHO Expert Committee on Drug Dependence introduced "dependence" as "A cluster of physiological, behavioural and cognitive phenomena of variable intensity, in which the use of a psychoactive drug (or drugs) takes on a high priority. Please try to follow this, its confusing in parts but in the end, i am addicted to opiates....plain truth with a little explination. My oldests sons father and i used to take 5 mg percs and do crazy cute stuff like feed ducks and go play at toys r us cause we would feel all lovey dovey and cute and all that towards each other. That was back in like 2005-2007. That was not a problem. It was only if we got some from an actual injury or something, every once in a while over that span, never anything else. But that introduced me to taking them without needing to. Then in 2008 i had acl replacement, i was given percs before surger...

Hello I've been on high does opiates for injuries due to a terrible auto accident for 16 yrs to date. My doctor at my request prescribed my contrave. How long do I need to be off opiates before starting the contrave? I know people can take suboxone almost immediately. With the bupropion in contrave does it help stop pain from withdrawal effects of the opiates? ## You need to be in full withdrawal from the opiates, before you can take this, unless your doctor has instructed otherwise. Taking it too soon could cause you to go into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The same is true of Suboxone, it cannot be taken immediately. Bupropion is an antidepressant, not an analgesic, so no. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Contrave as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, d...
Hey I have searched and researched about different things I can obtain over the counter to make at home detoxing from opiates a bit more comfortable then cold turkey.. I live in Canada and some of the medications non prescription aren't avaiable here. And I was also wondering for those of you addicts on these forms to reply if you have experienced this first hand and can give me more insight please and thank you in advance for your help and information ## Hello, Missboo37! How are you? It would actually be best to do a slow taper with professional help from your doctor. The preferred method seems to be to have someone start skipping doses, while gradually lowering their dosage. When I went cold turkey off of pain management, I discovered that hot soaks in the tub were very helpful f...
Would a doctor rather write scripts gor pain killers or suboxone? I've been on opiates for 10 yrs as has my husband. He was recently put on suboxone and seems to be doing so much better and I'd like to change as well and have had people tell me that a dr would rather prescribe something like suboxone instead of the strong pain killers that I'm currently on...Tia ## Hello, Melissa! How are you? Some doctors do prefer it, due to the fact that the Naloxone in it helps prevent a patient from being able to abuse other opiates. That's why it's also the preferred medication for addiction treatment, now. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. However, it is entirely up to yo...
I.have been on opiate alot of different kinds. I found perkacet to be the best for me cuz I only need 1 sometimes two. I have arthritis pretty bad. So does anyone know the difference between perkadan or perkacet. And how much oxycodone are in them? ## Hello, Sally! How are you? They both contain varying doses of Oxycodone, it's the other ingredient that's different. Percocet couples it with Acetaminophen, while Percodan couples it with Aspirin. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
