Does anyone know if this dose of morphine is strong?I know she is never without pain. ## Well, you didn't state the dosages of everything she is using, however, as long as she is being medically monitored on a regular basis, by her doctor, then there should not be a problem. There have been some in-depth studies done about the use of narcotics for people will severe illnesses and whether or not high doses of them had a detrimental effect and/or hastened death and they found no connection. As long as the person's dosage has been gradually increased, as needed, over time, then the body quickly adj...

side effects and how effect for chronic pain ## would morphine patches by-pass the liver or kidneys and be better than oxycontin ## No, it will still be processed in the body the same way as a pill, shot or IV. Of all the narcotic pain meds, is Morphine the LEAST likely to affect the liver in a negative way? If not Morphine then which of this type and class of drug is the least toxic to the liver? ## Hello, Keikeeo! How are you? Most medications are processed through the liver and carry the same risks of harm, as long as they don't contain Acetaminophen. Thus, along with Morphine, other options can include Oxycodone, Hydrocodone and Hydromorphone. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?
Dr is doing this after 6 years of oxycodone and 3 yrs of morphine er. Not sure why she is doing to me. I even offered to bring my meds in for med count. What should I expect with her doing this? I'm scared that Dr is doing this. When I've been chronic pain patient for long time. Before she believed I was in lot of pain. I hurt my kidneys n liver for taking up to 30 over counter pain reliever just to function at work ## Hello, Nick! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. How much is she lowering them and what were your normal dosages? The DEA has issued a new directive telling doctors that, unless someone has a possibly fatal illness such as stage 4 cancer, they should not be prescribed more than the equivalent of 120mgs of Morphine per day, some states h...

Suboxone is the medication that contains both Buprenorphine and Naloxone. Learn more Subutex details here. What instructions has your doctor given for the transition? ## Doctors dont like to hear that the medication simply does not work anymore. However hydrocodone, out of the family of opiodes is literally the worst one for your liver and kidneys. and o...
I've read no, but that your liver metabolizes it as morphine? Bottom line - does it contain morphine and what is the difference between contain and metabolize as?? ## No, it does not contain Morphine, Oxycodone contains Oxycodone, a different type of narcotic opiate. Some of the metabolites are similar, but not the same and lab work will be able to distinguish the difference. As a narcotic, it may cause side effects, such as: nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. What it contains would be the active ingredient, the metabolites are what appears on lab work after it has been processed through the body. Are there any other questions? ## I am an elderly male , 2 years ago I had a fall and badly fractured my neck after my operation I was told for chronic pain to take a 5mg Edone...
I have been on to oxycodone 5 milligrams 325 4 times a day sometimes 5 times a day for 10 years now I have liver function problems my alt and Alt are in the seventies my doctor is switching me to percocet 10 5 times a day is that the same dosage and is the Tylenol lower dose. I have severe lower back pain from having fifteen different surgeries plates and screws in my neck rods in both my arms and knees deteriorating and a number of other stuff from the USMC. I did have a internal morphine pump at 5 milligrams a day on top of everything for 10 years and due to complications I had them take it out and detox me now I just take 25 milligram oxycodone 325 4 times a day sometimes it helps sometimes it does not do you think the percocet tens 5 times a day are going to help me and help bring m...
I have been taking morphine sulfate (Statex) and codeine for 20 years without any problems at all. I am extremely intolerant and allergic to medications and in severe pain every day (for 41 years) so being able to tolerate opiates is essential to my survival. The fact they are natural is what allows me to tolerate them. But Statex is on back order so they gave me MS IR this week which is morphine sulfate pentahydrate and it made me very sick. Worse than that, they then gave me some Statex they had been holding out on me and for the first time in 20 years it made me sick as well. I'm terrified the pentahydrate triggered a TILT (toxicant induced loss of tolerance) and MS is close enough to MSP that my virus-ravaged liver is now rejecting MS as well. I've been trying to find out mo...
my brother took 40-60mg morphine pills while he was drinking. He was rushed to the ER ten hours later. NOW he is a 36 years old man on kidney dialysis three times a week, CAN anyone tell me what other damages he may be looking at. Brain, liver?? ## Yes, he may have done some damage to his liver, kidneys, stomach and etc. Are his doctors testing for other problems? You can learn more about Morphine and it's overdose effects here, scroll down: ## The hospital he is currerently at does not have kidney specialist. He has been in the hospital for two weeks now and has seen five different doctors, all of which have a different diagnos. My brother does not have medical insurance at this time. We are working on getting it. But in the mean time, I can not have him transferred to Oregon Healt...
I Take norco 10 usually 12 a day. I don't have any so I took a 30 mg morphine pill will it hurts if I took another 30 mg morphine 3 to 4 hours later ## Hello, Chris! How are you? Wow, that's a lot of Norco to take each day and well over the FDA limits for daily intake of Acetaminophen. They limit it to just 3,000mgs, due to the dangers of overdose toxicity, which can be fatal and possibly liver damage or failure. Is your doctor aware that you're taking that much? As to the Morphine, it is equivalent 1 for 1 to the Hydrocodone in the Norco, so each 30mg tablet is the same as taking 3 of the Norco and you shouldn't take more or take them more often, than your doctor has prescribed. Taking them too frequently could result in overdose. The FDA classifies this medication as a...
I HAVE HEP C AND AND IM TAKING 7.5 WATSONS AND NEED TO TAKE SOMTHING WITH SAME OR BETTER AS HELP ## Hello, Boston! How are you? There are quite a few available without Acetaminophen in them. You can get Oxycodone by itself, as well as Opana and Morphine, just to name a couple, so you may want to ask about them. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?
I am on a few psychotropic and an anti-convulsant. My blood work, I am told, says that my liver function level is 170 when it is supposed to be 40 or less. Therefore, my Pain Management Doctor said I cannot take anything with Tylenol in it, because it can harm your liver. What medication for pain, besides Roxycodone and Morphine could I ask for that doesn't have Tylenol in it, since they both knock me out when I take them. He tried Roxy first and then the Morphine, and now I am back on Roxy, because the Morphine made me depressed. Both were/are 30 mg. tablets. ## HI, Candy! Sorry about the problems that you've run into and I understand about the medications knocking you out, Morphine always did that to me, too. Other alternatives that don't contain Acetaminophen/Tylenol incl...
Vicodin or hydrocodone is synthethized or converted to hydromorphone in the liver. Codeine is made into morphine in your liver. Recently as you may know, Vicodin or Norco's were rescheduled to the highest level in the system. C-II. The reasons are varied. Most think it's because of the addition. Other's the damage that is induced because of the acetaminophen. Some because of the ease of phoning in a phony Rx to the pharmacy. Most just think that it's the #1 abused narcotic out there and too many Rx's are given. The fact is: Xanax is more addicting and abused. Other's cite OD's with hydrocodone,Oxycodone, Valium, Clonazepam, Xanax and and Soma's and anything else. The "Holy Grail" is known as (OXY's ,XANAX, and SOMA's) This combo raises a r...
I was told today, taking 2 Tylenol and 2 ibuprofen is equivelant to taking morphine for pain! Is there any truth to that? ## Hello, Keith! How are you? No, that is not accurate. Alternating the two, say by taking Tylenol in the morning, then Ibuprofen 8 hours later can sometimes result in better pain relief, because it can help reduce swelling more significantly that just taking one or the other, but it will not be anywhere close to Morphine and doubling up on them, at the same time, could be dangerous, due to the toxic effects they may have on the liver. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I need to know for a 15 yr old weighing 126lbs, is it safe for her to take two Tylenol 500mg and two Ibuprofen 200mg, which is a total of 1,400 mg at once? ## Is it safe to take Ibuprofen and ...
I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2008. Over the years my nerve pain has gotten a lot worse. The pain has gotten so bad that it's ruining my life. I cant walk due to my legs not working correctly and experiencing a loss of all balance. I have pain everywhere but it's the worst in my feet. My Dr. has me on 10 mg oxycodone for about 5 years now. I was on percocet prior but I worried about my liver with all the acetaminophen. My problem is I'm not sure if I have built a tolerance or if I should be taking more at a time but it's not doing much for me. My pain never goes away. The pills slightly take the edge off for about an hour. That's it! I have tried 3 different types and strengths of pain patches and they didn't do anything. I tried morphine with the sa...
White oblong pill with EC on one side and a weird shape on the other side almost like a backwards G, please identify. ## This is not morphine sulfate. It is simply a time-released antibiotic called Erythomicin (250mg). It is used for many infections, like pneumonia, bronchitis. Common side effects include diarrhea, stomach pain, and hives. ## And if this is an old pill it can be dangerous to take, as Erythro starts to metabolize, one of its components can cause serious liver damage, so this one should never be used past the expiration date or if you aren't certain how old it is. Most meds just lose efficacy past their expiration, so you could still use them, but may have to double up to get the effective dose, but there are a few that are dangerous, so if you aren't sure, toss ...
Just been diagnosed with pancreatic, liver and lung cancer. 55 y.o. The suboxone no longer works, and my oncologist wants me on traditional pain meds. How long does suboxone @ 16mgs for 4 months take to wear off? I am in severe pain, not taking suboxone, taking norco...doc wants me on morphine. I need to know as chemo starts next week ## Did you get an answer yet, or did your doctor figure it out for you? It's really the Naloxone in the Suboxone that's problem, since it neutralizes other opiates. Learn more Suboxone details here. Learn more Morphine details here. ## You have no idea what youre talking about i have been taking suboxone for 6 years now. Naloxone is only to discourage iv use of suboxone has nothing to do with neutralizing other opioids. Thats why you are supposed t...
