IS MORPHINE SULF ER 60MG A DAY AND DILAUDID 4MG A DAY AT A TIME TO MUCH? ## It can be for some people, if they are not used to taking narcotic pain medications, but others who do use them regularly often take even more than this to alleviate chronic pain. Combining the two can cause more severe side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. They go on to note that close to ninety percent of a single morphine dose is excreted through urine within 72 hours. However, on the contrary, a different report coming from nih.gov states that morphine has a "plasma" (blood) half-life of 2.5 to 3.0 hours. So when it comes to IV administration, this is probably the half-life I'd refer to for a more accurate estimate. Have been taking 400mcg Fentora with 125mcg Fentanyl Patch as prescribed by my PM doc. Fentora supposedly is only used for cancer pain. I do not have cancer just major chronic pain in knees for 10 years she believes is now CRPS. She says I have to stop either the patch or the Fentora. I have heard that Morphine is a good sub and she suggests 15mg. Dilaudid is also an option but did not have any success with that in 4mg dose. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!! ## My suggestion (sorry so late a reply) is that u stop the patch immediately. Fentanyl 50 Mcgs over 5 years has ruined my beautiful teeth. I have a spinal stimulator that was put in place on 8/19/16. It's the worst thing ever! I'm on 30mg extended release morphine TID and 15mg ir morphine for break through, but nothing is working!!! I was on norco 10-325 TID for years but it began not to work like I built up a tolerance. Any suggestions? My doctor is conservative but I have no life in constant pain. Oh, I'm also on neurontin 1200mg bid and zanaflex 4mg qid. ## What issues are you having with the spinal stimulator? It is such a shame that is isn't working for you. I am currently prescribed fentanyl 25mcg and hydromorphone 4mg aka dilaudid. I have been taking 60mg of Morphine daily for a year. This past week I took 3-4 8mg Dilaudids daily. Last night I went back to 60 mg Morphine. This morning I took 6mg of Suboxone and was in withdrawal 20 minutes later. I had to take a 1 mg Xanax and fell asleep. I am worried about tomorrow. I have no more Subs but I do have a 60mg Morphine. My Dr. had me on percocet but I was have nightmares on it, so he switched me to Morphine 15mg for break through pain and Morphine 30mg for long lasting. Nether percocet or morphine were working so he switched me to Dilaudid 4mg, and when I take one pill I don't feel anything but if I take two all I want to so is sleep. I have several physical back,neck,knee,foot issues that cause chronic pain. I have been on pain medications for about 20 years. Yes..I know it sounds like a long time. But I had small kids to raise and a very unsupportive husband. I am at a pain clinic. I am on 300mg of Seroquel, & 4mg of Xanax per day since my return from Afghanistan for PTSD, anxiety attacks, bipolar, and agoraphobia. I also take Morphine, Soma & 300mg of Gabapentin for pain. I broke a few vertebrae & was also shot. I maintained my weight since I was a teen, but since the medication I've gained 30lbs & I do the same workout since I was 15 & no matter what I do can't lose weight. Can the Seroquel be causing this? I presently take 1 30mg morphine 3X day and 1 15mg mor.ER 2X day. It is not enough. I could take 50mg 4Xday and it might work.
