Iu To Mcg
40 Topics FoundHow many international units (I.U.) are in 2.0 mcg of Vitamin B12? ## 120mcg of Vitamin K2 is equivalent to how many IU? ## I have never seen vitamin B-12 measured in (I.U) international units. It's almost always measured in micrograms. From what I've read, 2.4 mcg per day, is reportedly the FDA's recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for vitamin B12. The conversion charts that I've come across supporting MCG to IU only pertain to the following vitamins: A, B1 through B6, C, D & E. Perhaps contacting a local pharmacy may be your best bet? However, it seems to me that as long as you can measure the recommended daily allowance (e.g. 100% daily value) then that should be adequate enough for determining how much should be taken in any 24hr period unless specifically told o...
is 400 iu of folic acid equal to 400 mcgs of folic acid? Thanks ## Years ago a dr told me to start taking 400 ui of folic acid. Now i find folic acid is labeled as 400 msg not 400 ui.Is 400 msg equal to 400 ui?ThanksF ## Generally speaking, you can't convert between IU and MCG. IU's measure the potency of a drug, not its mass or weight. You can only measure between MG and MCG. 1000 micrograms (mcg) = 1 milligram (mg); so 400 mcg will be equal to just 4 mg Folic acid 400 mcg does equal 100 percent daily value for this nutrient. NOTE: If you can determine what percent daily value 400 iu of folic acid is, then you can essentially compare mcg vs iu. Hope this helps! ## Thanks, that is the conversion I was looking for! ## I have a question as well what is the percentage of folic acid ...
i was perscribed 50,000 iu of iron one day a week pill. How much is this in mg? The perscription is for 5 months. ## Hi Faye, I find that really odd that your doctor said 50,000 IU, as Iron is not measured in international units, but rather milligrams or mcg. Generally, international units are used to measure "vitamins" such as A, C, E, D, etc...and not used for "minerals" such as iron. 1 IU vitamin A = 0.3 mcg (micrograms) 1 IU vitamin D = 0.025 mcg 1 IU vitamin E = 0.7 mcg as d-alpha tocopherol The translation from IU to micograms or milligrams is different for every vitamin; and as far as I know there is no converting measurement for Iron to go from mcg or mg to IU; or vise versa. Does anyone else have any information to share regarding this?
