HI. Disc L1 has been identified as being completely herniated. Some days I cannot get of bed. The opiate laws in Massachusetts makes it virtually impossible to get relief and get to work when I can not get out of bed. I do not want Surgery. Are there other alternatives or pain meds that I can use on a limited basis

have 5 herniated discs and one is pushing on my spinal cord and causing atrophy in my entire right side of my body with constant pain. just below my neck in line with my shoulders it feels like there is a baseball size pieceof glass inside my body along with a 2 inch drywall screw in my ass cheek. what is a reasonable level of pain medication should i be taking and how often. oxycodone is the best that ive tried and the ONLY one that has even come close to working all the way on a pain that never goes away completely. im freakling exhausted from the past 5 years of being torchered. from this agony ## There is really no way to say what a reasonable level is for anyone. Everyone's body can react differently to pain medications and a dosage that might work well for you, may be too high...

Im on work comp for two herniated discs. Doctors have me on Percocet 10 and zanaflex. Body adjusting. I also am prescribed 3mg of xanax daily along with zoloft for anxiety. Would this pill help if I were to ask? I dont want to take pills that can become habit forming like this. AndI know my tolerance is going up. Can someone please give me an honest answer. Thank you so much ## The Oxycodone in the Percocet is very strong and taking the Xanax into consideration, as well, I really doubt that the Marinol would help you much. Learn more Marinol details here. It's just really not been made with the intention of treating severe issues and it's potency really pales in comparison to what you are already taking. Are there any other questions or comments?

my current dosage two opana er and three hydrocodone as needed is not working any longer like it used to, what is an appropriate increase that I can ask my doctor for that doesn't look as if ii just want them for the other effects, which I have by the way with 4 children, thankskris ## Hello, Kris! How are you doing? Actually, the best thing to do to avoid seeming like a drug seeker is to just tell the about the problem, without asking for any specific dosage change. They are the doctor, so they usually expect to suggest such. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have taken Omeprazole for two weeks. I am told not to exceed this time frame, but I still need treatment. What should I do? ## You may need to take a longer course of treatment, it can be prescribed for up to 4 months, at a time, but you should not do so without doctor's approval. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, flatulence, diarrhea, and stomach pain. Are you on any other medications? Have they had you try anything else to treat it?

I wear a colostomy and was herniated around the stoma following surgery. More f the stomach wall seems to be weakening upon use of Humira. I now have four (two large in the upper quadrant of the stomach, and two small in the lower quadrant). There is some pain and discomfort as the bowel habits seem to be changing as the size of the hernias increase. There seems to be many very tender spots my back now and the bottoms of my feet burn and hurt. I developed tendonitis, but was also on Cymbalta when that occurred. I have stopped the Cymbalta but the tendonitis has not improved at all. I seem to be extremely anxious now and have anger outbursts and lots of crying. Are most of these found in Humira users? I used the starter in mid-April and am on maintenance doses every two weeks. ## Stomach...

I want to know if anyone has had success with Vicoprofen for herniated disc pain? ## As with any medication, it is successful at helping some people, but not all. Vicoprofen contains Hydrocodone and Ibuprofen, this combines a potent narcotic with a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Read more: Has anyone else tried this medication? ## I have been using it on and off for about 3 months now. I switch off between vicoprofen and percocet< as not to become opiod tolerant to one specific opiod. I read this was a good thing to do. I do feel it is a good medication for pain, but i do feel a tolerance to it is inevitable. Does anyone have suggestions? ## Verwon, the link you gave me was for vicodin, not vicoprofen....

My doctor absolutely won't prescribe anything other than steroids and muscle relaxers. Every step is agony. Does anyone know a doctor in Knoxville who still prescribes pain medication? I have a current MRI. Help! ## Hello, Maully! How are you doing? Sorry that you're in pain. As to getting pain medications, if you require them on a long-term ongoing basis, then you'll need to see a pain management specialist. There were some new regulations put in place this year that severely restrict what general practitioners and surgeons can prescribe, how much they can prescribe, why they can prescribe it and how long they can prescribe it. Have you asked your current doctor if they can refer you to someone? That would likely be the easiest way to get in somewhere and get the help you n...

After multiple (5) trips to the emergency room for severe back, spines & stomach pain I was finally given an MRI & X-RAYS which revealed I have 2 herniated discs & arthritis in my back. The herniated discs are located in my T5-T6 & T9-T10 area. The emergency room doctor who ordered my tests did perscribe me 5mg oxycodone to help subdue the pain until I was able to see my Dr monday. She also explained in grave detail what to expect from this medication & possible side effects along with becoming dependant to the medication if not properly taken. But before my MRI & X-RAYS were taken the emergency rooms prescribed me over 8 different non-narcotic pain medication, a steroid along with an anti-inflammatory medication. Now my doctor is having me go to physical therapy...

I have five herniated discs in my spine and I've been suffering from agonizing pain. Every time I try to take something for the pain, it flares up my IBS, causing me severe diarrhea and nausea. The doctors dismiss me when I tell them about my problem. Is there anyone out there who could recommend a pain medication that is gentle on the stomach? Thanks in advance. ## Hello, Ronnie! How are you? I don't know of any gentle pain medications, there is a chance of all of them causing side effects, especially opiates, and they may include nausea, dizziness, and dry mouth, in addition to what you've mentioned. Ref: Safe Opiate Use However, there are things you can do to try to mitigate the side effects, such as making sure not to take them on an empty stomach. Have you tried any dia...

Help, I need a doctor in Atlanta Georgia that can see me pretty quick and refill my Oxycontin (which are for my 4 herniated disks that keep me in constant pain). We just relocated from Arkansas and I will be out of meds on Saturday and need a doctor quick. PLEASE HELP. ## I'm sorry, I know this type of thing is very troublesome, but due to the new laws, I doubt you're going to get in anywhere that fast to a new prescription. If you're a chronic pain patient that requires long-term pain management, a regular doctor can no longer prescribe them, they have to be prescribed by a specialist that is trained to treat pain.
