Hi I just been given linzess 290 for everyday. I suffer with tons of gas and constipation and bloating all the time.and it worked great the first few days of taking it however I noticed when I took it I had uncomtorble spasms in my lower belly so my doctor recommended to take it every other day. Do you think I should switch to the lower dose? I'm scared I won't have a BM and I'll have gas the days I don't take the 290 dose. ## It is always best to follow your doctor's instructions and the only way to know how it will work for you is by trying it. Some people have been doing quite well taking it every other day. The stomach cramping and spasms can be normal side effects of this medication, according to FDA reports. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, ...

Has anyone taken toviaz 4 mg every other day to reduce constipation and found it still provides relief? ## has anyone taken toviaz 4 mg daily and then reduced it to every other day to help with the side effect of constipation and found they still get relief for over active bladder? ## Hello, Festus! How are you? Have you tried it, yet? It may be worth trying, if your doctor approves. However, have you tried anything else to alleviate the constipation, such as fiber supplements? The FDA lists the other typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness and blurred vision. ## I have been taking Toviaz since October and I had pro vaginal sling surgery in December. I have been on levothyroxine for 15 years. I skipped a day and felt much better. Can i start taking it every other day? I am on 75mg. ## Hello, Cathy! How are you? When is the last time your levels were checked? Depending on their levels, some people do skip days of this medication, or alternate doses to maintain the ideal levels, however, you should check with your doctor, before doing so. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes and hair loss. ## Hi thank you for replying. I have had my levels checked Jan 2016. I get them checked every year. It just seems like when I skip a day and do every other day i feel so much better... I called my Dr. and he said as long as my levels stay good i can do that. I am in a higher insurance tier until Jan 2017 and a 90 day supply of xarelto is $455 (I pay 45%) I don't want to stop taking xarelto but can I take xarelto every other day instead of daily? ## Hello, Ernie! How are you? You should take it as instructed by your doctor, because doing otherwise could put you in life-threatening danger. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. However, given that this one is so expensive, you may want to ask your doctor about a cheaper alternative that you can try. ## What if there is no other alternative? is it better to take my prescription drug (high blood presssure medicine) every other day and 1/2 pill daily if I feel I need to cut back on it. ## this site is not medical professionals, so we can't possibly advise you on this. Before you cut back on an essential medication, you should really consult with your doctor. What medication is it and why do you feel a need to cut back? It is essential to keep your blood pressure under control, if this requires medication, there aren't a lot of other options. If your blood pressure gets out of control, you run the risk of severe health conditions, such as stroke.

My rx is round with KC 10 stamped on it. Can I take one every other day so my stomach doesn't feel bad all the time? ## Hello, Kelly! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. It's best to follow your doctor's prescribing instructions. Have you tried taking it with food, rather than on an empty stomach? That usually helps. As a matter of fact, when I was in the hospital and had to take it, they wouldn't give it to me without a meal or small snack. The FDA classifies this as a supplement and please be careful not to exceed your doctor's dosing, either, as too much of it can be just as dangerous as not enough. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks for your response. my blood test showed a potassium level of 3.5. Is that just low a...

Today my doctor changed my Medication. The doctor informed me my level is still low even on 100mg, but too high on 125mg so he advised me to take 100mg one day and 125mg the next and continue like this for the next 3 months. Trying to fall pregnant but it's not happing due to this reason. So fingers crossed in 3 months my levels will be back to normal. ## Yes, it is sometimes prescribed that way, if someone is having trouble hitting normal levels, and getting it under control is vital to your being able to conceive. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, hair loss, mood swings, and weight changes. How long have you been taking this new dosage regimen?

I just got the pills but I've been forgetting to take them like when I first got them I took it at 12pm and fell asleep woke up and took it at 2am then at 2pm then I fell asleep and just took one at 7:20 and I'm gonna tap one at 7:20 tonight will it still be effective? ## What medication are you asking about? I am sorry, but I can't really provide an answer, without knowing this additional information, since some medications do require precise dosing, in order to be effective, but not all. For instance, while an antibiotic says to take it every 12 hours, and that would be ideal, you also don't have to set your alarm to wake up and take it, it can wait a few hours, until you wake up. On the other hand, oral contraceptives are a medication that you have to be as precise ab...

However, if it is a prescription that says to take it as needed, then your doctor may not be expecting you to need 3 or 4 of them every day. Is there anything else I can help with?

I spent almost 2 years with awful leg and lower back pain seeing Dr.s from all over the place trying all kinds of back injections and Meds with no relief. I was seeing my PA when the AVINZA rep. came in. The drug was new and they said it was the best thing out there. I liked the fact that I only took it 1 time a day as a posed to (as needed ). It worked great and for the 1st time in years that I did not have pain every minute of every day I was so excited to be able to walk my dog and do some work again I did not do my homework looking into the new Med. I was about 4-5 mo. Into it when I found out the cost and the addictiveness of that much. It's 6 years later and with the cost and the insurance covering only half I have to come off this. Hello my name is Heather. My Moms doctor put her on 50 mg fentanyl patch every 3 days and xanax as well 3 times a day. I am extremely concerned about her taking this combo. She has rheumatoid arthritis. Can anybody give me any info please? ## Hello, Heather! How are you? How is your mom? What particular concerns do you have? The FDA classifies Fentanyl as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. It is very potent. Xanax is classified as a benzodiazepine, so it also carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. My mother is taking a medication: one tablet every 12 hrs with food. We were wondering what times are best: 8am & 8pm or 9am & 9pm? Ehat do you suggest? ## It depends on if she has to take them with food or after meals. It also depends on what other medications she is taking. Some medications can't be taken with others. It would be best to call her pharmacist and ask because they should have a list of all of the medications she is taking. ## With food can also mean with glass of milk or a cracker. Doesn't have to be a "meal.. Any 12 hr gap is fine. ## I have to take a pill every 12 hours, if I take it at 8 , what time do I take the next one.

I have to take my meds every 12 hours. I took my first dose at 3pm. When do I take the next? ## The next dose should be taken at 3am, according to FDA guidelines. Thus, if you don't wish to be up at 3am, you may want to change your dosing schedule. What medication are you taking? Knowing this would enable me to provider with more precise information. ## 3 am and then the next day at 3 pm and so on. ## I'm taking a antibiotic for my sinus infection. It says to take it every 12 hours by mouth. So what does that mean? ## It means that you should take the recommended dose once every 12 hours. So if you took one dose at 9 am, you should take the next dose at 9 pm. Does that make sense? ## It depends on the drug. Is it time critical such as a diabetic med or an antibiotic. Diabetic me...

Great medicine, although I have only started. Can I skip two days before taking the next dosage? Also I am shocked at the cost. $400+ for a three month supply. Any ideas? ## How is it working for you? You should follow your doctor's prescribing instructions, skipping days may prevent it from working as well as it should. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, bloating and diarrhea. There is a savings program available from the manufacturer. You can find information on it via the Linzess website at Linzess.com click here. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Call your insurance. My mother had multiple pulmonary emblisions in both lungs, age 77. She takes Eliquis 5mg twice a day, which I believe should always be written "Take 1 tablet every 12 hours". Her doctor has her go off of it for 2 days prior to get blood tests, every 6 months I've read stopping it suddenly can cause a stroke..WHY is the doctor insisting on this? ## The blood work is normal, due to the risk to your kidneys, someone taking Eliquis should have their levels checked at least once a year, having her stop it for two days, before, may also be due to a possible bleeding issue, though only her doctor can answer that question for sure. Eliquis may cause other side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and easy bruising. Ref: Eliquis Information Is she also on other medications?

If i take one now at 3:30pm can i take another tonight at 12:00; then tomorrow go every 12 hours? ## Ideally, it should be taken as close to 12 hours apart as possible, according to the FDA. The medication needs to remain at a consistent level in your body, for the duration of treatment, in order to adequately eradicate the infectious bacteria. Its typical side effects are list as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. They prescribed me 12 percocet, 1 every 4 to 6 hrs. How many days is that (2 or 3 days worth)? Because I see my doctor today and only have 1 left. ## That would be a maximum of 6 a day, so 2 to 3 days worth. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Is Keflex (Cephalexin) in the same family as Mexapin? Can I take Mexapin if I'm allergic to Keflex? ## They are different antibiotics, but that doesn't guarantee that you won't find more that you are allergic to, that's the way it tends to work, those who are allergic to one, or more medications, usually discover more that cause allergic reactions. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?
