I am a patient of Polycythemia vera since 2008 (Age - 34, Male). Due to low BMD all bones are too much painful & suffering from osteoporosis since 2009. which calcium with vitamin D3 should I take daily and kindly suggest me Doses & Strength? Shall I have to take before or after of lunch or Dinner? In empty stomach is this more effective? I am taking - Amlopidine 5 BD, Aspirin 150 OD, my BMD score is Moderate (Bone fracture risk is high). Middle of June 2013, due to partial cerebral thrombosis I was fell down & Right Shoulder dislocated, a piece of bone (2.44") of humorous is still inside of my Right hand. I have been taking three D 500 CAL tablets per day for the last two years. This was prescribed to me for high PTH and low calcium. The condition is now normal. I have been told that this supplement will continue for maintenance. Is there any risk of kidney stone formation if I continue this dose? Will it be better if calcium carbonate is replaced by calcium citrate? ## is it possible that vit. d3 can cause miscarriage to a pregnant woman?

If so, you really need to consult your doctor, before you take anything else, even just a nutritional supplement. There may be things that you shouldn't be taking, especially some nutrients that may affect your estrogen levels.

Hi, I'm 17 and I've just started taking Magnesium, Calcium, Omega-3 fish oil and Iron supplements for anxiety/stress, to improve mood, energy and overall health. I've done a bit of research on these but have questions about when and how to take them and want to make sure it's safe to take these everyday until I feel better. Also I would like to know if anyone has any advice and experience on taking one or more of these. I especially want to take magnesium & omega 3 but I think that calcium and iron will also be helpful. Both Calcium and D3 are vital to your overall health, but they can also be dangerous if you take too much, so you do have to be careful. There are also certain medical conditions that they may be contraindicated with and certain medications they can affect, so you should always check with your doctor, before taking them. If you don't need, because you aren't deficient then it may not be the right thing for you to take, because the D3 will basically potentate the calcium, which makes it quite easy for you to develop hypercalcemia.

can anyone clarify the difference between shelcal and gem cal? ## Some of the ingredients are different. Shelcal contains Calcium Carbonate and Vitamin D3. Gemcal contains:calcitriol 0.25 mcg, calcium carbonate 500 mg amd zinc 7.5 mg. So it is what they provide and their formulations, it depends on what your body needs and what your doctor recommends that you use. My wife takes it daily, but finds inconvenient to swallow even after breaking them into pieces.. We are looking for an alternative with 1250 mg of Calcium Carbonate with some Vit D3, if available in England. ## Hello, Tironita! How are you and your wife?
