Withdrawal Symptoms Lipitor (Page 9)
UpdatedHow long before muscle aches and weakness subside after discontinuing Lipitor
Gradually stopped taking Lipitor over a month-long period. Had a severe bout of vertigo and almost constant light-headedness/dizziness. Mood changed and last night I thought I was going to "explode," from nervousness. My wife asked me to resume the pill. I took one and had a good night's sleep. My plan is to continue taking Lipitor at a low level of 5 grams a day. By the way, no dizziness this morning!
i finished my meds 3 months ago no after site affects
Hy I've been put on lipitor and its now day 8. I want to stop because I'm starting to feel muscle cramps in the morning when waking up will it cause bad side affects it I stop
I take lipitor 40mg an I start tomorrow to stop taking it. My doctor said there no side effects. I am worry.
OMG! Lizzie thanks for sharing. That has been me for the past two weeks! Two visits to the GP in that period. Have had difficulty convincing them about my severe symptoms. Worse still as I have to take Omeprazole for GERD. Tried to take myself off both and all hell broke loose. The heart palpitations is frightening and goes on for so long that my rib cage is hurting all the time. Waking up in the night with massive headaches. Muscle and joint pains now plague my life as well as muscle tremors, and the memory thing! My GP has recommended reduced dose from 20mg to 10. Now back on both. Seems like I have to take the Lipitor for the rest of my life. God help me!
I'm glad to hear someone else besides me is allergic to aspirin! It causes inner ear pressure on me, almost unbearable! I tell doctors this and they think I'm crazy!!
Has any 60 something male experienced the somewhat loss of libido and or the ability to climax after stopping the generic form of 20 mg Lipitor? These symptoms disappeared when I resumed the pills. My cardiologist said this was not feasible, but my urologist said it was possible. Just want to know if this has happened to anyone else? Kind of fearful of stopping it again.
I have been on Lipitor for four weeks and developed blurred vision and loss of appetite. i think that this is a dangerous drug and I think you did good quitting it. I also had a lot of anxiety since starting this medicine. I am stopping tonight and hope that i will be ok
I have been on lipitor for 10 months after being misdiagnosed with a heart attack. All tests have confirmed I am not at any risk at all of heart attack and I have no vasculsr disease. I stopped lipitor after increasingly severe leg pains and muscle weakness - I could barely walk! So far, 6 days later, the relief from pain is remarkable. I will check with my doctor but do not intend to take them again
I was taking lipitor 20mg for about a year. despite my cholesterol level becoming normal very quickly my doctor wanted to double the dose. I refused.
I was already suffering from severe muscle weakness and pain, thinning hair and cognitive issues. Although being very careful about my diet I continued to gain weight and puffiness.
When on holiday where we were walking about 8 miles a day I became severely struck with horrendous pain and muscle weakness. I thought that I would have to use a wheelchair.
I stopped taking lipitor from that day. I had a week or so of bad indigestion, palpitations and tiredness.
But the pain ceased almost immediately.
It wasn't until I stopped being depressed that I realised how depressed I had been. One of the side effects of withdrawal is weight loss!! And the puffiness has gone too. I haven't felt this well for about a year. Lets hope it continues.
Hello. I have the exact same story. Been on crestor for 15 years but the dosage was doubled about 9 months ago. Now I am struggling to walk the pain is horrid but my Dr just tells me that I am not young anymore and I have osteo srthritis. Well i have bern doing some resesrch and these medicines can be the cause so i stopped taking it. Only been a week so i still hurt but not as bad.
After I lost my husband my evening meal was usually a bottle of wine and a large bar of chocolate. I was diagnosed with GERD, and was prescribed Omezaprole. I researched this and found that I was actually eating too much chocolate which can coat the oesophagus preventing it from closing properly, so I was getting acid reflux. I also topped drinking orange juice and eating citrus fruit.
My symptoms disappeared quite quickly
I am having increased head rushes that sometimes almost cause uncontinuous.I reduced my atorvstatatin from 40 mg to 20
I have many of the same problems, in fact, I have been taking therapy for motion sickness so maybe it is just withdrawal sysptoms
It was about 2 weeks after stopping that I noticed less pain and stiffness. In a month it was completely gone. I took this drug for 17 years but had no problem until I got to menopause. No idea if that's coincidence or not but I am fine now after stopping.
I've been off Lipitor for one week now, after 17 years. In the last 5 days, extreme brain fog, joints and muscles on fire.
I stopped taking them as my GP trial led me on a combination statin drug which gave me rhabdo.
withdrawal of statins id the only thing that changed in my life in the past week.
It really hurts.
Any suggestions?
I have cut down my lipitor from 50 to 10 mg a night. I noticed right away the symptoms are going away. I sleep better haven't the body aches and my breathing in much better.
Give it at least a month. I was in horrible muscle pain. Not joint pain. Felt like I ran a marathon after no exercise. I could hardly walk up stairs. So sore. Very weak. I lost so much muscle strength. I could bare hold a full pot of coffee. After a month the pain was gone. Never taking this poison again. I feel normal. Got my muscle strength back after stopping this med. I took it 17 years.
I quit lipitor about a week ago, but tapered off for about 3 weeks. I almost immediately improved my muscle use. my breathing is better too. I am still taking beta-blocker for BP so don't know what effect that has, but my general health has changed to the better, much better
