Withdrawal Symptoms After A Dose Of Vicodin Wears Off

I have been taking Norco (Vicodin or whatever) 5/325 for at least 8 or 9 years now. I have a lot if back pain. And of course they also help me with depression. When I first started I would take 1 a day just a few days a week. Eventually I started taking 1 every day. I hated my job and it helped me get through the day. Within a year I was taking 2 at a time once a day. I've always had problems with depression. Especially when I have a lot at one time to be depressed and worried about. I take Clonezepam for anxiety and restless leg syndrome, and also Cymbalta for depression. A few monthes ago, I started taking Adderall. I also take a lot of meds for Diabetes and high cholesterol. I used to drink vodka a lot, but I've gotten where I can't drink any alcohol because it makes me sick, which is really a blessing because I know I shouldn't be drinking, especially with all the meds I take. It's been at least 2 years since I quit drinking alcohol. We had to move 5 1/2 years ago away from my home where I was born and grew up in because of my husbands job. We live 5 hours away from my oldest son and my family and my real home. I have been depressed ever since we moved here. Well, my dr. who I really liked at first, decided to "fire" me, because I was asking for more and more Vicodin and Clonezepam. But before she did that, she refered me to a pain center. Things have gone smoothly there so far....about a year now. I get 90 a month. I was taking 1 1/2 twice a day, but since I didn't have alcohol to help me with depression anymore, I started taking 2 in the morning and 2 at night. Well, of course that would make me run out about a week or 2 before I could get more. This month I was really good at first. I started taking 2 a day (2 at a time) and skipped my evening doses. It was rough, but I was doing pretty good. Except that when it starts wearing off, usually around 3 or 4pm, I start feeling depressed about all my problems and I cry a lot. off and on. Pretty much all night until I go to sleep. And I take 2 Clonezepams to help me sleep. Could these crying spells be a short withdrawal symptom from not taking Vicodin at night?? I know I need to talk to a therapist about my problems. I'm in the middle of trying to find one, a female, that my insurance will cover. I've already been through a few of them since I've been here. I found a good one when I first moved here, but we had so much in common that we started to become friends. And then she started having marital problems and I found out she has drinking problems, and then her problems just escalated. So, I stopped going to her as a patient. It was awkward. Anyway, my main problem is about the crying spells. Could Vicodin or Adderall or Clonezepam cause that? Thanks.

Hello, Pickle! How are you? I'm very sorry about everything you're going through.

You definitely need to find a therapist. Since the Vicodin is helping with your depression, that means there's a tendency there for you to abuse it and become addicted to it. It's actually a depressant, for most people, only a few get the opposite effect.

And yes, that likely does explain your evening crying and depression, you're likely coming down into a crash, after taking them in the morning.

The Adderall could also be worsening the problem, since it is a stimulant and is known to cause crashes like that.

The FDA classifies both Adderall and Vicodin as carrying the risk of being habit forming and they may cause other side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness, dry mouth, weight loss and constipation.

I really think that getting your depression under control will be the best help you can get right now.

Does anyone else have any advice?
