My son had a terrible experience on wyvance. He has phyciatic systems to include halluciations. The doctor took him off the drup cold turkey and Ihe seems to be having withdrawal systems? Is that normal?
I can care less about my punctuation I dont try to type like a f***ing receptionist Half you people are taking to much FACT you were not being responsible with your meds FACT Some people have bad reactions either way like with any med FACT Only meant to be taken once a day FACT Commas dont mean s*** compared to that FACT You cant say nothing about what Ive said other than my punctuation because everything I said can be backed up by documented and actual FACTS Grow up and find something else to complain about
GabFab! My insurance doesnt cover my vyvanse however Shire Pharm has a prescription program that gives it to you-for free!!! This is not a hoax. You should check out other programs such as Bridges to access for any other meds. This is what you need to do when you apply for the Shire program (rxassist.org/pap-info/company_detail.cfm?CmpId=84) i told them:I do not have insurance, (for vyvanse) don't tell them you do because technically, you dont. Anyway, check it out. Good luck and hang in there. p.s. dropping meds cold turkey is never the best and withdrawl symptoms occur: depression, irritability and lethargy. take care!
It is great you have realized this before things got worse. Vyvanse almost destroyed my life completely.
2 years of doses as high as 2 70 mgs per day proved to be a complete disaster. Pretty much anything over 50 mgs is too strong unless you enjoy feeling like your on meth all day. Anyway, I have been clean from vyvanse for over 5 months now and it has been a battle. Without Faith, it would not have been possible to get off this drug! I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phillipians 4:13
Here is my short Vyvanse history: I'm 51, had ADHD all my life and decided to seek a medication solution. I was prescribed 20 mg/day on January 3rd and about two weeks later the doctor upped it to 40 mgs/day. I've taken no other medication for ADHD, other than a couple week trial of Ritalin and Adderall, both discontinued due to side effects. This was several years ago. On 20 mgs the first few days I was jittery and jumpy, but loved the focused feeling. Some trouble sleeping. After two weeks, that all went away, so the Dr. upped me to 40 mgs. That was rough for a few days, but I then loved the energized feeling and the focus it gave me. One heck of a time sleeping still, so I decided to try a day without the Vyvanse about three weeks into taking it (remember I was on a LOW dose). I felt deathly ill. I almost could not get out of bed and felt as if I had the flue and I was shaky, horribly depressed, and panicky (not like me at all). Took me three days to feel normal. I was baffled. Low dose for three weeks, stop and this response? So I tried again for five more days at between 30 and 40 mgs Vyvanse/day (sometimes split one of the two 20 mg capsules I took each day) and sleep was so poor I did not take any today, January 29th. This time the withdrawal was worse! Ached all over, flue-like, shaky, hopless mood. Wow! I think I just took my last dose of Vyvanse. A total of 28 twenty milligram pills over about a month and I have this withdrawal. I am dumbfounded. I am so glad this medicine kept me awake to allow me to discover its horrible (and quick onset) withdrawal. I'd hate to think what it woud be like to be on this for a year and then have it quit working and then try to stop.

Noshyt! You should really think about getting of vyvanse yourself!! It is obvious by your paragraph of 1 sentence seperated by 100 commas that you are going off the deep end brother! Work on yourself before you try to work on others!!!
TO LOST, Man if you are taking that much vyvanse a day you obviously have a problem, I dont think anybody is even supposed to take that much in a day, Id bet 10 - 1 you arent prescribed all that from your doctor, and if you are which I doubt, go to a real dr. as for the rest of you complaining about the medication, you chose to take it, nobody forced you, and for those of you with kids, you should have had enough sense to start them off on a really low dose, I'm 29 with 3 kids, Im diagnosed with adhd so are my 2 oldest, and I wouldnt let my kids take it before I did, Because I did research extensively before I would even fill it at the pharmacy. 20 mg what was prescribed to my kids, I'm prescribed 40mg and tried to give me 50 but I had enough sense to go lower and refuse anything higher, with a new med, I take nothing else at all with these meds, Now the 20mg I took before I would allow my kids to start it an hour into it almost put me to sleep, calmed me down gave me clarity in my mind I havent felt in years, strong enough for me just about, so i knew then to To cut my kids capsules down to only 10 mg to start them off with, Now if you truly have ADHD then the chances of this medication stimulating you to the point you people are talking about not likely unles you are purposely or possibly accidently abusing this medication, and parents dont give your kids high doses of meds just because the dr gives it to you, ADD and ADHD are easy to misdiagnose, happens alot if you are not truly hyperactive this medicine will speed you up, or if you take way more than you should dont trust a dr's opinion all the time you should always start with a lower dose than recommended with meds like these to see how they affect you first, its common sense. Especially if your giving it to your kids, I only allow my children to have it for school weekends, school breaks summer vacations. they dont get it, alot of you parents try to use the meds to do your job because you dont want to deal with hyperactive kids, its sad but its true. If your doses are to high then you most certainly will have bad and negative effects from stim meds especially if you really arent ADHD, remember just cause a doctor said you are doesnt mean you are,
I am just now getting off of Vyvanse....cold turkey week 1. It initially started by a fluke, stomach virus, out of town w/o a prescription, etc. I have asked my Dr. to reduce the amount or take me off, but he said I was depressed and upped my Pristiq. He didn't listen!! I was furious and told him so. Had he not been my Dr. for 15 years I would have walked out.
I go in every month since it is a controlled substance....office visit co-pays are lining his pockets as well as a monthly insurance payment. Meanwhile, I have horrible insurance that doesn't cover all of the visits so I have alot of out of pocket expense just to get the drug. Add to it that my insurance company wants to question why I'm on it and stopped covering it. Again, the cost was over $180/month just for a prescription.
Did I mention that I haven't felt like myself in years? The fatigue of not having it if my appointment falls on a day or so after I run out is debilitating. I want to have the energy to play with my child, but instead, like a sheep over a cliff, I followed Dr.s orders and have lost precious time and part of me. So, I will stay off of it and wish you all good health as well!
If vyvanse is taken by someone who is bipolar it causes hallucinations
I read of through most of the post on this page. not all. I hope this answers some questions. I was on ritalin for a year. I couldn't stand it. It made me really aggressive and very depressed. It had really bad mental side effects. The absolute worst one out of the three I took. I then switched to adderall. It was better, but I kept having to up the dose. constantly losing effectiveness. I started getting twitches. One night I woke up and went to the kitchen to get water then woke up (I don't know how long) later on the floor in a pool of water. I had to drag myself to my bed and call someone from my cell phone in the next room to bring me some water. If you do decide to take any of these meds you should drink at least 90oz of water a day. I quit talking to my friends and became very anti social witch is not me at all. for the past 3 years I have lost contact with most of my friends. I switched to vyvance hoping that things would get better. the twitching stopped but I still can force myself to do the thing that I know I enjoy. Then I passed smooth out at my friends house. wake up and do not know where I am. when I say crash out, I mean crash out snoring and all. My friends freak out they are trying to wake me and I am getting mad because I think they are at my house and are trying to wake me up out of my bed. I have been shut down for multiple jobs because of these meds. the company doctor say it makes me a safety hazard. I believe they are right. Now on one hand I have all these problems, on the other hand it does work as far as helping me focus and making me a hard work. The down side being that I can't get to work in the morning because I can't pull myself out of bed because of these meds. I am 26 years old and been on these meds since 22. If I have anything to say about them is that the cons are NOT worth the pro's. I just want to be myself again. The awesome person that I know I am. All I feel is sick and week. before I got on them my average weight was 170bls to 180bls. I'm 5 foot 8 iches tall and now weight 150. These meds completely destroyed my sex drive. Now almost all my motivation although I had awesome grades in school since I started college in 2009 untill now. If I have any recommendations it is to GET OFF THEM WHILE YOU STILL CAN. i'm on 50mg and tomorrow will be my first day off them. I know it will be hell in a hand bag to get off them, but it will be well worth it
Wow, Josh, you really are taking risks. Potentially incarceration, or if you were susceptible to any mental illness you might given yourself much worse problems. Was there any understanding of the side effects before you took this dosage? I got the headache you described. Your roommate was woefully ignorant of the laws and the potential for harming others. Hopefully there he-she will gain better judgement soon.
The drug is to be taken in the morning, it is incredibly powerful and not meant to be used to cram. I'm a student too and would never do what you did. I hope you are going to be ok.
I am using this ADD meds for school. Being ADD or ADHD won't drive you nuts. I do ok without medication, but I do much better with meds - I'm enjoying it for post-secondary education success. I don't intend to stay on any meds but for now, it is working well.
I'm wondering why in some cases, that folks have gone off it cold turkey. It is understandable for pregnancy certainly. Did you consider taking diminishing doses? Say 3/4 for some days, then a half, down to a quarter then stopping?
I am a 19 year old male. I had to quit vyvanse cold turkey two years ago after a sever reaction to a newly prescribed mood stabilizer because of the severe mood swings and anger outbursts. I had three times where I drank pepsi and for some reason that would make me go into a state where I could barely talk or move. I went into a catatonic state for a couple of hours. In my head I went to a dark void of fear and terror and wanted to cry the whole time but couldn't and was scared. Two years later, I do not feel the same. The craving is still there. I am no longer the person I used to be. The side effects are major and still linger on. *visual effects, decreased libido, shifting between euphoria and dysphoria, unstable mood, irrational thought, delusions, intense feelings **especially fear** *
I only took this pill twice. Had back to back exams in two days. Big mistake was that they were 70mg eac and this was my first time taking them (got them from a roommate). First night was good took it at 9pm stayed up all night and studied. The next morn at 9am I took another one to study again but then later that night I could not sleep at all. Begin to start getting bad headaches and trouble getting to sleep. Is it possible to have withdrawals from this pill after only taking it twice. I still feel like I have some affects from it and its been out of my system for over 24 hours.
I was on adderrall for approx 3 yrs..I loved it..I never felt it "kick" in, never felt jittery..I just noticed my day would go better and I could focus so much better. I slept wonderful also. Adderrall isn't in production right now so my Dr. gave me Vyvanse..said it was the same exact thing..OMG....I was out of it, I slurred my words, was sooooooooo sleepy at work..in fact my best friend at work called me a zombie....I just quit taking it after about 3 weeks...I thought not taking it had to be better than taking it!..I feel much better without it but still miss the focus I got from adderall...
I'm 18 and this has been my first week of taking vyvanse... The last time I was on an ADD medication I was in grade 4, young. I remember my brilliance being brought to life by such medications, and it has been so kind to happen again. I am currently teaching the math teacher that once thought I was useless... Amazing no? Other than this, I am worried because I notice the hostility.. something as small as a test where a question is not able to be answered... not because I can't answer it but because the question is wrong. I have also been so much more know-it-all if that's what you would call it.. My feelings for loved ones I find are dwindling and i'm becoming so occupied with my life.
It's only been a week, and I have not tried a day without this drug yet.. i'm scared to hear the withdrawls people are going through - but I have gone through other drug addictions in my life and we shall see how this plays out.
recently my son was diagnosed with cyclic vomiting syndrome and is taking medication for that, but he has been on Yvanse for for 3 yrs. He's developed high blood pressure and was told to stop taking it because of it. We are going on two weeks of him not taking the medication cold turkey, and to be honest, he's depressed, irritable and wants to sleep alot. This medication will never be given to him again in my opinion. He has ADHD but since he's not been on the medication he's been less hyper. But what concerns me is the depression he is going through. I've read alot of these comments and to be frank, I am a little scared for him. I've read alot of the side effects and wonder if the Cyclic Vomiting was being caused by this medication. Has anyone experienced vomiting episodes while taking this medication?
My prescip of Vyvance has lapsed for a few days (between appointments) and I thought I was was imagining things, but wow... I see here there might be more to it. My temper has been a tad hair trigger, and I have been sleeping non-stop. Not to mention my appetite is on overdrive. Guess I need to discuss this with my doc tomorrow.
Are you feeling any better andi?
My email is
do not give up now, you are gonna get through this!
