Will Suboxone Show Up In A Dot Drug Test (Page 3) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI am going to get my cdl class a licenses... Will suboxone I took two weeks ago show up in my screening? They send it to a lab
This guy is right on with this. Only a 10 panel will show the vic. Perc. And dot currently test at 5 panel. DOT has been trying to get the standard 10 panel in to law for years now. So just look for whenever the 10 panel test is that standard. But for now it's a 5 panel for DOT. Most court ordered testing is 15 panel.
I have been taking buphrenorphine for over ten years at 24 mg per day. Yes it is a high dose but i feel nothing euphoric about it. I concentrate better than on opiates or nothing at all and i operate dangerous equipment that will kill you if in the wrong spot. I have better wits about me than many of the other employees who take nothing. I have quicker reaction times at the stop lights than others and observe things that others wont catch that are sitting next to me. I drive many miles everyday and drive safer than when i was younger. Everyone else i speak to that is on sub has said the same thing. It is a very safe drug when used correctly. Now if i quit for two weeks then went back to my full dose i would be high with no care in the world.
I have always wanted to ask someone in an HR position a few questions. First I have always worked desk jobs so danger isn't a factor for me. I am prescribed anxiety and a light pain medication. Do some companies secretly discriminate against this? Also I can't even tell when these low dosages kick in so I never have that high look or any change in personality so do they look at that also? I could understand if I was acting different.
I have a CDL Class A License. My problem is I'm going for a pre-employment test to drive OTR for US Xpress. They require their own training. I've been prescribed Subs for the past 6 months. 16mgs a day. I specifically asked the recruiter who told me "they test for everything," but didn't seem that knowledgeable about the medication and sent me a waiver form my doctor says he cant sign off on. "Everything" sounded more like a scare tactic but I'm still worried. I've been told The DOT and most carriers don't test for it. It's a urinalysis and I'm pretty sure its just a 5 panel like most places, but I don't know and I'm scared is all. I use it as prescribed and for therapeutic uses, as I'm a Marine Veteran with pain and some depression issues. I've never been in an accident in my life. I'm just scared of traveling half was across the country with my last few bucks, only to be turned away. People kill themselves over less drama than that so its pretty important to me. If anyone knows that can help I'd appreciate it. Just trying to get my life together.
in my case I've never taken oxies or heroin. I only took lortab in the proper amount for a spinal cord injury that an anesthesiologist caused me to have permanent migraines for several years. that is until i found a nerve block treatment then started seeing a chiropractor that helped as well. i haven't taken anything but subs .5mg in the past 3 years and prior to that i took only suboxone for 3 years. you cant make a claim like that without realizing that not all cases are the same. each individual is different. i've never been reckless with medications. i've never taken them for a high. but i did learn the hard way that the pain meds doctors give out like candy can mess your live up all the same. and people get classified by those who dont know any better as unable to live productive lives or not trustworthy. i'm a mother of two and have a beautiful life. i'm talented and have alot going for me already. I am one year to completing my bachelors degree. i have absolutely no reason to be thought of as not able to do anything just because i take a medication that i don't even feel. it only stops bad problems that happen if i don't take it at least every other day. i usually skip a day because i dont need it. i have a ton left over because i take way less than what i'm prescribed. it naturally makes you not want to take as much over time due to the naloxone in it. i am normal when i take it. it doesn't hinder anything in my life. it doesnt hold me back. i know from 9 years of experience. there is a huge difference between taking a lortab and taking a suboxone. the difference is that it doesn't hinder your cognitive abilities what so ever. if it is properly managed and taken properly there is no reason why anyone would know any difference of someone taking it verses someone else. in fact everyone thought i just stopped taking the pain meds. they had no idea i was taking suboxone the whole time. i only even think to take it when i'm going to sleep and realized i havent taken it in a couple days. you totally dont know what you are talking about.
I have been reading and reading and i keep getting two conflicting answers. I have been on suboxone for 3 years after 6 years of heroine addiction and it has done wonders for my life. I went from being homeless to being a manager making 80k a year. But new HR director came to the company and implemented “safe workplace program” and enrolled everyone into random drug testing. I get the forms to give to my guys and my number hasn’t came up yet but I know it’s coming. The forms say 5 panel DOT equivalent urineanalisis. I’m just very nervous. I just want to hear from people who have taken DOT test and the outcome. I don’t want to hear to just stop taking suboxone. I’m on 2MG a day and it helps me mentally control the urges to use and I can’t take a week off to get off them. It is what it is I’m just looking for answers so I can quit worrying.
Re: A bupe patient (# 115)
Actually... It's the very opposite... My problem is I did read all the responses... Got 10 different answers! But I found out myself that you do pass a 5 panel dot test while on subs. (I lowered my dose for 3 days and didn't take any the day of test) and passed. So I got my answer...Test will be negative!
Re: vplw (# 37)
You are right. I have been driving a truck for 22 years and have been on methadone for 17 years. I have never tested positive. I take Suboxone and now I'm getting ready to have my first 5-panel drug screen. I really hope it doesn't show up. I don't think it will.
I have been taking Suboxone for roughly 6 years now due to opiate abuse & pain management now. Suboxone is technically in the the opiate class it will not show up as a generic opiate in a urine screen. The dr's that I get my suboxone thru have told me before that they have to request a specific test for it. However, now that more people are taking this drug the labs that supply the dr's with the urine screen plastic cups are starting to make those cups ( 12 panel or higher) that will show if suboxone is in your urine right there in your dr's office. If your urine in the cup shows that suboxone is indeed in your urine they will send request to the lab along with your urine requesting they test for it. They also make those dip sticks they stick in your urine can detect it now also. I to have always heard that 3 to 7 days is how long it stays in your urine. You can tell when it's leaving your system since you would feel minor withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal from suboxone includes diarrhea & being nauseous.
I see all these Q&A posted quite some time now.I am looking to get back to driving a cmv. can anybody tell me if dot's urine test will show suboxone in it now?
thank you. 7/1/2013
hey whats up man I'm in the same position as you with the suboxone. I have a the drug test monday. What happened with your results? IF you can let me know asap id really apprecieate it
What medications disqualify a CMV driver?
A driver cannot take a controlled substance or prescription medication without a prescription from a licensed practitioner. If a driver uses a drug identified in 21 CFR 1308.11 (391.42(b)(12)) or any other substance such as amphetamine, a narcotic, or any other habit forming drug, The driver is medically unqualified. There is an exception: the prescribing doctor can write that the driver is safe to be a commercial driver while taking the medication. In this case, the Medical Examiner may, but does not have to certify the driver. Any anti-seizure medication used for the prevention of seizures is disqualifying. Methadone use is disqualifying. The Medical Examiner has 2 ways to determine if any medication a driver uses will adversely affect safe operation of a CMV:
1. Review each medication - prescription, non-prescription and supplement
2. Request a letter from the prescribing doctor
Am I required to have a medical certificate if I only operate a CMV in my home State (intrastate commerce)?
PreviousNext.
Intrastate drivers are subject to the physical qualification regulations of their States. All 50 States have adapted their regulations based on some of the Federal requirements. Many states grant waivers for certain medical conditions.
NOTE: FedEx, UPS and DHL drivers usually do not leave the state but are subject to interstate regulations.

If my employer states that they are testing for marajuana, anphetamines, methanphetamines, heroin and opiates... will subutex show on a drug screen sent to the lab? Even though it is not stated on the list of narcotics in question?
How did the physical go? Did you get a medical card?
If it's not listed I highly doubt they'll test for it :)
I just took a drug test for a state job. They poured it into two separate cups sealed it and sent it to the lab. I took an eighth of a sub the day before. That's what I take everyday. Praying I pass really need this job. Should I be worried
Saw someone in another discussion thread with an actual MD after their name giving advice and discussing the topic. Everyone with a CDL and a momentary high thinks it makes them an expert :)
Hi I am about to start a class for my CDL training to get my class a license. I read your post and wanted you to know that I thank you for the input cause I'm a suboxone patient and was worried if it was going to show up on my drug test for the dot. The class sends us for the test so i didn't have to take one when I went for my physical and I have about worried myself to death about this. If you do know of any difference since this post please advise.
