What Not To Say During Suboxone Appt (Page 11) (Top voted first)

My boyfriend has battled with heroin addiction for at least 2 years now. He was prescribed to before, but couldn't afford the maintenance program and ended up banging heroin again. He went back to his doctor to get a script for suboxone again last week, and the doctor wouldn't prescribe it to him. I found another dr who can prescribe suboxone nearby, and want to make sure he gets a script because he will die if he doesn't quit using. Does anyone know any reasons why a dr wouldn't prescribe suboxone? Thanks.

Hell ya I do..I hope you live in portland, oregon.... That's where he is but if not I'm sure he can recommend somebody in your area. He's the type of dr that had my back as I was sent to jail once and the jail wouldn't give out subs in my county. It's never been done before; only methadone if u had a script, but never subs. They refused to give me my subs in jail and said they only do methadone and I called my doctor from jail and told my dr what was happening. He wigged, called the police departments and demanded that they had give me my med. My dr told them that they were not medical professionals (and that he was my doctor). Ripped them a new ass. I mean 1 holiday I ran out early (I had his personal cell number so I called him and he phone them right in for me and even lets me consume marijuana. And I stayed with him ever since. 7 years in the sub world that's unheard of. Most doctors who do prescribe subs for people end up bouncing around every year to keep a script, always something or their excuses to cut ya off, but not this guy.

I am an addict with a loving husband who has stuck by my side. He has never been addicted to anything and doesn't really know what anything about addiction. I have used through a good portion of our relationship and I recently had our first daughter and immediately got on subs. Living an H addict or any addict is hard. I have completely made a mess of our life and he an i both are cleaning it up. Some people just have the strength to love someone through. Lucky us. Very lucky us.

If he didnt have any opiates in his urine when tested you wont be prescribed suboxone. There should be no other reason thats why their

Unfortunately, you are so right... Suboxone is a game changer. It completely eliminated my cravings and I took 120-200mg/day of oxy, and my life was not my own. Methadone didn't help. I just wanted more. Suboxone makes me feel NORMAL and I can live my life without constant fiending. I am happy and motivated and have good energy to be a functional person. Anyone with opiate addiction should try suboxone in my opinion. In the next few years the scales will tip and it will be the norm in lieu of methadone. It's a partial agonist plus antagonist so it makes taking real opiates not feel good, which creates a new biofeedback loop in your brain to have an aversion to real opiates. Can I get a hallelujah?

Not true for me...I went in to treatment on day 5 of withdrawals. Perhaps checking into out patient treatment first even if for a week would grease the wheels by documenting the addiction with professionals. ???

I have someone presently who has been cut off his suboxone because he is outside of the clinic jurisdiction. There are no other sub doctors in the area. (rural Montana) We are trying to find him a medical detox. This would need to be anywhere in the Pacific Northwest. Does anybody know any medical detox for him?

Not all Doctor are prescriber's, you have to find a doctor, GP,that is also a prescriber.

Well my husband was @ the wrong place @ the wrong time. My husband was never a haroien addiction but was given this pill at first to get high. Now his body needs them so that he wont withdrawal he gets them off the street.Now he's trying to manipulate me by saying that he needs them to feel normal and that he wants to try to get them pracribe. I told him that he's not a haroin addiction why would he want to spend his life on that.so my qouestion is
Could he really get those things legally now or will it be hard for him.I'm praying that it will be. Tiered of this crap.

Wow thats about all i can say. I feel sp sorry for u but if u want to quit suboxone will help but as with any thing u half to want to quit, good luck

Thanks for sharing your story with me. It's so similar to what I'm going through! I just found out a few days ago that cps is going to take my daughter away. I feel so bad and so stupid for letting this happen! I know I need help but I guess I just dont really know how to go about getting it! I tried getting an appointment with the only dr that prescribes suboxones here but there's like a 3 month wait! Anyways, now that I f***ed everything up, I wanted to ask you and anyone else, how do I go about getting my daughter back and how do I get my family to understand what's going on? They're the ones that called cps on me so I kinda feel betrayed by them! :(

I'm on 2 8mg suboxone tabs per day. If you are an addict to opioids and need help, you can easily get suboxone. Tell the doc about how you became addicted and how much your dose is. If u don't be honest, you will not be prescribed the proper amount. The doc is required to make you seek counseling and will give u drug test. You can't have weed or anything other than suboxone in your system or you will be cut off. Your boyfriend probably did something stupid. He probably loves the heroin too much to commit to a program to get better.

And yeah...tell people to run to ER every day...we don't have enough health care expenses from people running to ER and not paying the bill...People like you really burn my pizz...you think we all owe you something because YOU went and got yourself hooked on drugs, now everyone should take care of you because of that. Once a moron, always a moron, I guess...but I don't owe you nothing, and my taxes don't need to pay for you running to ER every day just because you feel bad. You can't afford the meds, then do what you should've done already...deal with it and lead a normal life without drugs. If you can't afford to drive a BMW, then you drive what you can afford. If you can't afford to wear designer clothes, then you wear Sam's choice or thrift store special...why you think something YOU did to yourself and caused addiction is any different...well that's beyond me. The sense of entitlement you have is beyond unrealistic, it's just downright absurd. You are entitled to only have what you can get for yourself in this world, nobody owes you anything, so stop feeling like you are such a high & mighty person that everyone should foot the bill for you to be comfortably numb throughout life.

why dont u get on methadone maintanance it saved my life from heroine .if u are paying for the dope u can pay fopr thisor even saboxone is great to anything but dope!try it u might agree.

Look lady, don't listen to these whining saps. Seriously? "I'm on H now for blah blah blah.... Listen, if your guy WANTS to quit using he needs to bite the bullet and check into LONG TERM inpatient treatment. It's the only option. Otherwise, he'll take suboxone for a few weeks and his addict inside his head will convince him to go get high again. How many times has he f***ed your finances and life up because of this crap? Seriously, tell your old man to go to treatment or go to hell.
