I AM REGISTERED NURSE AND DON'T ABUSE MY MEDICATIONS, I PLAYED FOOTBALL ALL THE WAY THROUGH SEMI-PRO AND I FOUGHT IN THE MARTIAL ARTS FOR 12 YRS, I HAVE SUBSTANTIAL CERVIAL HERNIATIONS, SHOULDER TEARS, BAD KNEES AND MY LOWER BACK IS JUST TRASHED. I HAVE USED THE OXYCONTIN OC FOR OVER TWO YEARS AND NOW THAT I HAVE STARTED USING THE OP I ITCH THE SAME WAY I DO WHEN I AM IN CONTACT WITH LATEX, I COULD ASLO SWEAR THAT THE DEGREE OF PAIN RELIEF IS NOT AS GOOD AS THE OC. I SWITCHED TO THE LONG ACTING OXYCONTIN SO I WOULDN'T BE POPPING PILLS ALL DAY LONG. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE CAN TELL ME IF THE NEW OP OXYCONTIN HAS LATEX IN THE MAKEUP OF THE PILL? THANKS WAYNE

Your a good example why so many people think everyone that takes pain medication is also abusing it, the truth of the matter is that acute and chronic pain is the most under treated conditions that patients suffer from today. Doctor's are bullied into passing the buck instead of standing up for their patients, i work in health care and i am a pain patient and i see every day the abuse from the medical soceity for not treating this condition because the DEA and the medical board has threatened them every since they graduated from medical school;. maybe you could use some of your energy to post some idea's that maybe able to help patients with this never ending issue.

Josh, I really feel sorry for you, but at least maybe you got a little of your anger out, but the people you meet on this website aren't the druggies they are people who are looking for answers.
I have been on Oxycontin for almost 8 years and it has given me some of my life back until 4 months ago when I was suddenly in a lot more pain than usual. I told my doctor and since I was just getting over pneumonia he thought that was why my pain had increased. I came here today looking for answers before my appointment on Thursday and found other people were having the same problem as I am. I didn't even know they had changed the Oxycontin and I don't even know what OC and OP mean, but I do know regardless of the formula they do not work the same and I have had some unusual side effects also that could possibly be caused by the change.

Iam not going to go into all the problems that I now have since the oc to op change. they sound like the other peoples posts.I have been using oxc. for over 12 years, with them it has allowed me to work a productive life. I pay over $600 a month for them. I have decided to stop paying for THIER JUNK.Iam now taking morphine pills.I switched 1 week ago. sure Iam in pain but Iam not paying that damn rip off company more money for less of a product. It really pisses me off that those ass-holes made this change to keep "tweakers" from using them. As allready mentioned, they will & always find some way to abuse. I have NEVER got my scrip. early or asked dr for increased dose. I do thank the "butt heads" for several years of redurced pain. Iam now looking to buy another rental property with the money I am saving. TRY TO SWITCH MEDS. IT WILL BE TOUGH- LET THEM FEEL THE PAIN BY TAKING THIER MONEY. IT MAKES ME FEEL BETTER ALREADY.

I'm a journalist from Canada writing an article about the new OxyNeo formulation that is replacing oxycontin. I'm concerned with the effectiveness for patients with severe pain. I'm interested in hearing about your experiences with the new formulation. Please contact me

Most of your symptoms are probably phsycological.
Fearing that because 1 letter has changed that somehow "they" have weakened the strength is like a crazy conspiracy theory!!!! I am not doubting the pain you are in but just think about it logically mate.

I have recently started going to a pain clinic. My primary doctor was giving me 180 oxycodone 10/325 a month and 10 Fentanyl patches a month. I have not gotten my new prescriptions yet, and after reading all these posts, I am scared to. He gave me 60 Oxycontin 40mg 2x day and 60 oxycodone 10/325 2 a day for brak thru pain. Can anyone logically tell me if this is going to be a painful experience chaging my meds?

Josh Jones. If you know someone taking advil for pain and it works for them then they are not in real pain. Theyre just cry babies that have no idea what real pain is. Whats with the y'all? It is you all. Also Josh, you mention crushing pills. Sounds like you know all about that and are speaking from experience. basically if someone is only taking advil for their pain then they don't have that much pain.

Is there any other pharmaceutical company's that make the oxycontin besides perdue pharma?

Not everyone can take nsid's, I am one of them any anti-inflammatory brings on breathing difficulties. I have knee replacements, arthritis and fibromyalgia. The new oxy format does not work well. It takes longer, doesn't last as long, makes me dizzy, and causes headaches. I have not and will not abuse the medication and have never considered snorting or whatever people do that abuse the meds. So I suggest that you realize not everyone is an abuser. We suffer extreme pain and would like to be able to enjoy our life.

Okay people, you guys obviously need a slap in the face to knock the ignorance out of your nerrow minded thick skulls, so since I can`t literally do it, I`ll do it with information: The government took away the OC`s and give the pharmacies OP`s for the simple fact that they are more profitable. It has nothing to do with them being less easier to abuse(though they are), because let`s face it, if that were the case they`d be changinging every narcotic that is sesseptable to abuse i.e:percocet, vicoden,xanex,delodid,etc...so quit whinning, that aint gonna get you very far in the pharm. business.

It's all the freaking crap, coating, then filters. Its freaking rediculous no wonder your getting dizzy. If I were you, I would switch to hydomorphine or oxymorphine. Sorry your suffering again. Please just try and change all together.
Good luck and thank you for keeping us free.

Sorry to hear your plight. I've never taken the Oxycontin OP or whatever it's called. I will make this request for you though. I had 29 broken bones and a near death experience in a car accident. I have 4 total joint replacements and a bunch of other crap. I believe I was on 80 mg Oxycontin 3 times daily with 8mg Dilaudid tabs up to 4 times daily for break thru pain. My Dr. Wanted me to try another med for my feedback because I also am an Opioid Addiction Counselor here in Chattanooga. He put me on Methadone 10mg tabs. 2 tabs r times daily...and you wouldn't BELIEVE how much more efficient the pain relief is. Its just OBVIOUS to myself it hits all the receptor sites across the CNS system. I promise you, you will immediately tell a difference..or that day...Definitely within a couple days..because it builds up in your system. You'll sleep better, I promise you. I couldn't believe the difference. Its a much stronger opioid too. Talk to your Dr., and if he asks where you heard this, tell him and also tell him I'm a counselor. I promise you'll be glad you did!! God Bless

Re: Dee (# 8) Expand Referenced Message

They already did brother! I've had 3 back surgery's and both knees replaced; one twice! These new op's are f***ing junk!! I'm in horrible HORRIBLE pain again and my doctor hands are tied, so to speak. There's only so much the government will let them prescribe before they get threatened or shut down! So now working my 70+ hour a week construction job is f***ing horrid and some days I have to leave my crew alone to finish things up, not what a good Foreman does!!! The government can take these op's and stick them up their asses! Pretty bad when a little 30mg oxycodone works better than a 80mg oxycontin op!! F***ing junk!!!

I have been taking OC for about 5 years for degenerated discs in my neck along with spondylosis and canal stenosis. The pharmacy just started dispensing the OP this month and it does not work nearly as well as the OC. It makes me extremely drowsy but the pain relief is definitely not the same as the OC version. I hate that so many people were abusing this medication because it really helped with my pain and now it is just not doing the job. I hope my doctor will find a solution when I go see her next month. God Bless everyone who is going through cronic pain!
