As far as I was told its used in some cases as a treatment for high blood pressure due to portal hypertension. I'm not 100% positive but I think if the person is not able to take other blood pressure meds that would result in extremely low and dangerous side effects and not help the actual issue. I'm no doctor but pretty well informed on this med.

From what I could gather, a round yellow pill imprinted with m171 is reportedly identified as Nadolol (40 mg). This medication is indicated to treat high blood pressure among other conditions not limited to anxiety, migraine prevention and chest pain. I realize that everyone is going to have a different experience taking beta blockers like Nadolol for managing hypertension/etc., but taking time as a patient to inform yourself on how it works and what side effects may be associated with treatment are invaluable components to weighing out benefits vs risks.
