My friend has been taking xanax for the past two months he's been taking the 2Mg bars he would eat about 10 bars a day because of his anxiety he stoped taking them for couple of weeks and now he is not remebering anything he has been passing out and saying he had a conversation with somebody and never even talked to that person. like we'll be sitting in a room and he will think the phone is ringing but it isnt. and he said he had a conversation with me one day and i never even talked to him that day. I'm trying to find out if this could be from the xanax because its making me very worried.

I have been taking 0.5 mg xanax Three times a day for over 40 years now and they have always helped me deal with my anxiety. I have always took them right and followed the rules and laws. My doctor wrote them out for years and she got in trouble about 6 years ago for giving us all a 1/2 dose of the flu shot and had to re give it in Tennessee to all her patients and her husband who is hired under her .. his patient's ..We never knew when we all were called back in there to get the second dose. until it came out in are paper and I was told before it came out because my daughter worked for the paper .. I never held it against her.. because I figured maybe she thought by it being so hard to get and so many dying from it .. maybe a 1/2 a dose was better then nothing.. So she went in front of the medical board and was fined $10,000.000 dollars and 5 year prob. and community service .. About over a little a year ago she stopped her clinic from writing out my nerve pills or pain killers for anyone and told me she was going to get my pm doctor to write them out and he did until next month then no more .. I remained with her .. Ones would ask me why .. when she was so greedy .. Hated change . And because she was from India. She would hug me .. and she was nice . Even though I seen all the urine cups in the sink with names on them when I went in for a bladder infection .. Last month I made them take my blood pressure this time because I asked my thyroid Dr if the little breathing thing they put on your finger tells your blood pressure and he said no . So last month I made them take my blood pressure and not guess at like they did the month before .. Then this guy was sitting in her waiting room and she and me and the secretary's were standing behind the door from the waiting room and she said .. look at him ....... he is a drug addict.. I just looked.. and she said they know I don't write out anything .. I thought to my self ..She hasn't even seen this guy yet .. and yet she is judging him.. when she helped make ones like him for years ! That got to me .. I could of left that day with my file in hand and they would have never missed it .. Shows how much the heppa law is protected .. I should have did it ..I just get a fentanyl 25mg patch from my pain doctor and he was writing out my nerve pills .. now I have to find a doctor for them. I will not be put on those antidepressants .. They make one more crazier .. I had bad reactions to vicodin and morphine can never take them and hydrocodone. And demerol they have me in my iv at the hospital when I woke up after my operation I had Dec .. I had a bad reaction to it and made them stop it! I thought to my self now I'm going to have to ask a doctor for my nerve pills and look like a drug addict and I hate that .. for I could Handel my pain and anxiety I had for years .. It is so unfair. If a doctor won't write them out for next month I will have to stop them because if I go to the pain doctor I can't have them in my system and I have not always went to a pain clinic only in the last five years so it will either stop both and go home and end it all ! You do everything right for years ! You try every antidepressant they had and you felt more crazy . Then they put you on a pill that you finally feel normal and can stand at a machine and deal with the pain .. at work and the people you work around .. Then your put on nasids and for years you eat them for the pain to .. it caused ulcers and stomach burns .. you have a doctor calling you at home saying stop them you could hemorrhage from your stomach from your diagnostic results ! So the doctor who was in trouble don't write them out ..and my Dr from the pain clinic did for her for a little over a year and gave me my last prescription for next month and after that I don't know..I told the pain doctors nurse what have I done ? Did I do anything wrong and she said no. What doctor am I going to find because all these drug addicts has made it a bad drug for someone like me who always followed the rules and took it right and it worked for me for years ! It's so unfair ! I told my daughter that before I will withdraw from it because I don't know what it can do.. and I don't take much pain med but a patch! I won't suffer and go back to the antidepressants that make you feel crazy ! I would end it all!I won't be labeled begging doctors for it and make me feel like a drug addict ! When I always remained with doctors for years ! I won't feel less like that ! I will not be labeled when I have always filled the rules! Never been in troubled in my life.. I'm going on 62 and I feel like what will I do ! I have lost all faith in doctors ! You can never trust no one! I made a appointment with a new doctor Tuesday for my primary doctor. I filled out the papers and added my 6 month drug store paper with it with all my medicine and the patch and nexium and blood pressure med and xanax 0.5 mg three times a day and senior 6mg take one at night .. But my nerve pills are not due to be refilled till next month .. I won't beg for them ! I won't make them make me feel like my doctor was calling that boy who was sitting in her waiting room before she even seen him and calling him a drug addict ! And yet she still seen him because of his insurance ! Her of all people to judge someone she never seen ! Her husband didn't get in trouble with the flu shot was because it is like he is hired in by her and she owns the clinic! So he was lucky ! People called her greedy and she lost a lot of patients ! I never looked at her that way until last month when she was having me stand behind the door with her calling that guy waiting in her waiting room .. look s......... He is a drug addict .. and I thought before I ever would have a any doctor think that of me .. I would end it all ! Say a prayer for me when next month comes around .. I won't degrade my self by begging for something that always helped me..

If you feel knowledgeable about xanax and not addicted why would you "run out on the weekends"? Here you are talking down to everyone else's post that you're sick of hearing. You must be abusing them yourself or you wouldn't "run out".

I took xanax 0.05 for 18 years I was taking off on it cold turkey. I lost my memory and did not even recognize my two sons. I reinstated them memory is back. I was off of them a year it's awful and can't walk like I did or talk right. I have a under active thyroid. Mucous is running down my throat they did sinus surgery. Has a MRI and did not have a stroke but have fluid where they did surgery
Now I'm am dizzy from all the drainage. O need help.

Listen, I was taking Xanax and dilaudid for 8 yrs straight, I was up to 10 mg a day of Xanax , I could not stop on my own, I was afraid to admit I had a problem, but I finally got the nerve up to tell my wife. She was pissed at first but she realized that I was reaching out , but she made one big mistake, she took all my pills and made me quit cold turkey which I knew was a mistake but I did it anyway and I suffered for it . Not only did I suffer but I had a seizure in front of my 2 young boys, after the seizure my family doctor put me back on Xanax , and used a tapering method to get me off, it's been a year now that I'm off the Xanax and I feel great,but I couldn't have done it without someone watching over me, you must tell someone that you love to help you!!! That's a must, that was the turning point to my recovery,be strong, that miserable feeling will leave , but be strong, you can do it!!!!

My daughter just lost a dear friend who went "cold turkey" off Xanax,he was 31 and was happy and in love and decided to get off period,
He died yesterday,we are still wondering what happened when everything seemed so finally look up for him.I wonder if the reason was Xanax withdrawal,and a heart attack.
So so sad for all of you who are addicted to this drug.Hope you can find the strength to quit if you really don't need it.

I was taking 8 1 mg blue Xanax for a long time and I didn't want to take them anymore so I went to a mental health unit and detox with a doctor and it was very hard they gave me phenobarbital for the first 4 days so I wouldn't have a seizure and I didn't thank God but as soon as 8 days past they released me and my husband had to take off work for 30 days and watch our two young children they were two and three years old because I couldn't do anything I had anxiety attacks on top of anxiety attacks I could barely walk my legs felt like they weighed a hundred pounds each and I only weigh 220 pounds total. This was the worst withdrawal and I was told that from the mental health unit as well. Xanax is one of the worst withdrawals anybody will ever go through. It is a full 30 day withdrawal and believe me it was no vacation it was like hell I couldn't do hardly anything for myself yet alone for my children. I have been clean for 20 years off of Xanax. When I went to the mental health unit I had 2 big bottles of blue 1 milligram Xanax when I got out I flushed both bottles down the toilet because I didn't want them ever again and I beat my addiction. I'm sure it was with the help from God. I just want to express how painful and heartbroken I felt while I was withdrawing for 30 days. My advice to anyone taking Xanax is please do not exceed what your doctor has prescribed for you because they're very addictive and like I've mentioned the withdrawal is horrible I wouldn't wish this upon anybody. So please take my advice get medical help you detox and don't ever touch Xanax again if you ever get you taking as many as I did in a day. Good luck to all of you don't be afraid to admit yourself to the hospital because you need their help for at least the first four days or you could die it can be fatal. God bless

No it is not because of people abusing Xanax that you can not get any on the weekends. If you need meds on the weekends then obviously you are overdoing your Xanax pills as well. My doctor gives me enough meds to last me 30 days and I see him before the 30 days is up sounds like you definitely have a problem with your Xanax 3 times a day. Maybe you should stop pointing the finger at addicts and realize that you are one also. End of story.

Why don't you try taking Seroquel 150 milligrams at bedtime will help you sleep you will sleep you don't need any other drugs to sleep then Seroquel. I have been taking Seroquel for over 5 years to sleep and I sleep very well every night. A lot of people AR acting like they're not addicted because the doctor writes their Scripts but if they don't last you a full 30 days then you are an addict and you should stop taking especially Xanax to sleep it's not a sleeping pill it's for acute anxiety panic attacks xcetera.

AMEN! I have taken daily xanax since 1998 (when my husband jumped in front of a train). And now with all the abusers--you are ruining and preventing people whom take the drug to treat acute panic disorder/PTSD from staying on this medication. Taken as prescribed, mistakes happen, docs may write you a script every month and they forget some months are 31 days, or call it in with the wrong pick up date (due to the high controls needed caused by abusers) we can't fix the mistake, and nor can the pharmacists-and we realize it a day 2 late, and can't reach docs as it's Saturday. Also, my doc has made mistakes with my appointments calling in refill for "Sunday the 9th, when Sunday is the 10th, and also being every 30 days, writes script for a 28 day month. Or god forbid we're sick and can't make it to re-up appt! It right the scripted uses for severe medical reasons have to deal with people breaking the law, abusing this med, and WE pay for it-the actual people who take this drug as scripted. The addicts-they need help and the SHOULD get help! Regardless of the fact they did this to themselves taking an unscripted drug, but it's not their fault they are addicts. But they chose to be addicted to this drug. I also have a new provider as mine retired, and she doesn't script ANY patients xanax. I feel for addicts, being addicts isn't their fault-BUT being addicted to xanax IS their fault, and they knew they had addiction problems, and to this drug "to feel high", now "we" who require this drug for severe psyc reasons get turned down.

1988 here and the more you think about it, for the betterment of mankind we need for all Benzos to be removed from the U.S. This 30 day thing has people acting like addicts to obtain their needed drugs. Oh I'm right there with you but don't live fill to fill and have to worry about it. I also realize it would be best if I finally go into some sort of inpatient rehab as the medicine controls your brain chemistry and really we will never get better

30 mg a day how did you get that, jesus man you would be asleep 24 -7 I TAKE 6MG ATIVAN a day and the shrink says that's a lot , cost you a fortune 30mg Xanax that in mg 60 mg Ativan . jesus

2mg 0f Xanax 3 timez a day?! Prescribed?! Who in gods name needs that much alprazolam?! That sounds like abuse right there, just with a dr's seel of approval!! Lo f'ing L. I have severe anxiety and that much Xanax causes more stress than helps. I'm on a long acting benzo ( Clonazapam) 1mg 1-2 times daily and that is plenty. Any more and it makes it worse. A bar 3 times a day, ridiculous amount even for treating seizures. Hope you don't lose your doc cause not many others will write a script like that. Alprazolam is strong and if the dose is too high, the consequences are serious, sooner or later. Stop blaming addicts, 3mg a day is not a long term therapeutic dose whatsoever, short term maybe.

I don't believe your story, not for one second. Benzodiazepine Withdrawal is worse than Opiate/Opioid Withdrawal. If your “friend" was taking just half that amount for half of the time you said, within 12 hours he would start to feel the Withdrawal kicking in. 12 hours after that he would be in a World of Hurt. He would be suffering brutal panic attacks. He would likely be on the verge of falling into seizures. He would not need your help in pointing out what was wrong, it would be very- very obvious, because he would be craving a xanax, (alprazolam), dose in a extreme way. The only reason for your friend, which you invented with your imagination, to be going through this awful experience would be because he, or she- (it doesn't matter because he or she doesn't exist), was out of supply and would be doing the most that could be done to get more. I suggest if you are going to make up stories to get attention, that you should do a lot more research. I feel sorry for you. You need help. This type of behavior is repugnant. Stop wasting the time of others with your pathetic lies, or maybe you are not lying & you are psychotic. If so, then get help because if you are this far off the deep end of reality, you are probably a threat to yourself and others & you need to be in a locked down psychiatric facility.
However, if I was to wager on whether you were insane, or just a loser with nothing better to do, but “cry wolf" to a group of people online, I would most definitely put my money- 5 to 1, on the latter. I can't stand people like you. You are like a human leech that clings on to people, and has to be the center of attention. You are the kind of person who abuses the kindness of others. You keep playing your games with people, and I guarantee you that one day you will try your game on the wrong person, or group of people and you will be treated to a good thorough beating. The good side of this, if you survive it, or aren't beaten into a person who would be mentally deficient, (that would be ironic- then you would have the sympathy and attention that you seem to crave like a drug, I suspect), would be that the beating you will eventually receive, would put your entire life into a whole new perspective. Consequences are often enough, the best teachers. I don't know how old you are, but you need to change. When I was a kid back 1999, I needed to change, I didn't like myself, so I took action & joined the United States Marine Corps. I get the feeling you are an American & that you are young.
Man up, or woman up and join The Corps. If you are a man you will join The Infantry, as I did. It's a great time to be in The Marines. Believe me they are experts at taking repulsive civilians and changing them into honorable, courageous and committed young Marines. The change is forever.It was the best part of my life. Unfortunately, I was Medically Retired in 2010 due to injuries sustained in combat. However, if I had to do it over, I would of done it the same.

I was prescribed Xanax medically for over10 years. I am now into my second month without. I did a medical detox for 10 days and have been in an IPO for 22 days. I am still having a bad time. Just because it's prescribed, doesn't mean it's not killing you.
