i have a friend who desperately wants to get off of methadone and pain pills. will suboxone work? is it addicitive too? if someone can please help me that would be great! also is it very expensive, that's what i've heard.

ASH... Im Scotland GB.. Is subutex a completely diffrent thing altogether? Or is it more or less the same thing.. Im pretty sure I would b able to get on suboxone thru my doctor who I c again in a cpl of weeks.. Just in from work and my whole shift I was over sweating profusely as I am every other day. . I NEED OFF METH!!_!:!

Ash Im in Scotland GB.. I can do the sub programme through my doctor iv spoke to hin about it before but he thinks I should stay in meth as Im doin well comin dwn.. Sometimes I wake and even gettin in the shower can b a drag, I dont feel bk to my normal self so mayb its that s*** hding me backback.. Im going to come on here everydayy.. You guys are my new advisors.. And I agree u gotta change the people and places your used to and b ready and willing for the journey ahead. One things for sure though I refuse to go backwards in life. The only way is fwrd and we get out of life what we put it.. Everyone on here is an insparation xxx

Nat, are you in the US? I'm not sure how suboxone programs work in other countrys but I think they primarily use subutex?? Not sure.

I want to thank you guys on this forum.. I now feel like Im not alone in this :-) I have told yous how I havent told my family about the programme Im on. They know I am drug free but dont know Im on a meth programme. I couldnt deal with the dissapountment in their eyes. Iv read posts with ppl sayin how they couldnt have dine in without their family. Part of me wishes I did just tell them at the start then instead of sneaking to pharmacy and they unexplained times when my dad doesnt realise why we cant sleepiver at his(so I can get to pharmasy the nxt day).. My advice would also b to tell ur family, Im living a secret and always find myself thinking ' I winder what my work.ates/dancefriends/family etc would think if they knew. Would they think of me in a shady way or would they aknowledge how far aling iv got myself.. Sometimes I feel like my mum can knock me down for things iv done(to my body) rather than recognise iv got myself thru it.. I am clean for myself and my daughter.. We have a nice settled life, Im a good person, not the ugliest duck in the pond and work for our money, also have nice friends.. Why cant I seem to get my confidence back??? one things for sure, when I go bk to my doc in a cpl weeks I am going on subs, I want to take the step so Im gonna do it. Cant thank u all enough, will let you know how I get on.. Ill start a diaru on how it makes me feel.xxxx

Thanks so much for replying. Im finding this forum very useful. I can get a free prescription for subs at my practice wich is great.. Im dwn to 15ml , iv got a friend on 70ml and hes going on sub so I figured if he can switch over on such a high dosage so can i.. Meth is ruining my life. Like I said previous drugs are not part of my future so Im only looking for something thats not meth and something I can ger off asap, is sub the thing for me???? I googled how I get off meth and I seriously didnt c one success story. My pharmasist says most ppl stay on meth for life.. I felt like she stabbed me in the stomach, its not an option for me staying on it. Im the first to admit that I got myself into this situation but iv turned it round and Im doin myself proud. I work now and am back to teaching dance classes to kids, if anyone knew I was in meth I dont know what id do..I NEED OFF THE S***... Thanks for ur advice and anymore would b appreciated.. Thanks so much for replying. Ironiccly my mum is a drug worker so youd assume id speak to her about things but she is so proud of me for chucking drugs that a just dont want her to know things got so bad.. Think I might try subs. They sound the way fwrd.. Thanks again xxx

I know right Missy...I'm sorry, I know what crazy men can be like :/. Do what you gotta do to keep or get your baby back! Stick with the subs until your doc says otherwise. How long does he expect you to be on them and when to wean you off?? I'm on a two year program and start weaning at 9 months. I can go 2-3 days before starting to feel funky. If you wanna try weaning yourself just take 1/4 less then prescribed every week. Like you take 12 mgs normally a day. For first week take 10 mgs then next week 8 mgs n so on. I still think you should wait for doc. I've known ppl who did what your saying and ended up relapsing then having to find another Clinic to go to since they broke the contract with the first one.

Oh and BTW I showed those oral test results to my sub doctor and he was not happy with the caseworker. He offered her some good advice. "Maybe she shouldnt handle drug testing and the results if she doesn't have the knowledge to correctly administer the test and to correctly read the results ". He advised me to NEVER take an oral swab for suboxone or for that matter any drug. He said they are easily misread and easily tainted.

NAT, get off Death a dones now! Subs are perfect for methadone treatment. Any addiction doctor with any sense will put you on sub in a heart beat. My doctor explained to me that most methadone treatment is lifelong. You will probably be on subs for at most two years. Call an addiction clinic that prescribe suboxone and explain the situation. The only downfall is the cost. Most insurance or Medicaid cover methadone but some do not cover suboxone therapy. And some clinics are not accepting insurance and it is strictly cash. My doctor has been practicing psychiatry and treating addiction for over 20 years and has said verbatim that he has never seen anything with a higher success rate as suboxone. It is addictive and that's why your doctor will wean you off after a cpl months. Good luck :)

Hey nat. I have been on subs for about a yr. Now. But I had withdraws when not having it for a few days. I don't know what med is truly going to help us hun with this disease. Know what I mean. I understand as well about keeping it from the family. Maybe if they see u are trying they will be more app to understand that u might need to be on some med to help u get better. I was scared to death but when my mom knew I was trying to change I think it was easier for her to swallow. Good luck!

Hey ash how did things go? I am so scared of getting off subs. I went away for a few days and forgot them and was sick as a dog! Any advice? I have been going thru a custody battle lately. My daughters father was charged with felony 1 agg. Arson! To boot he had our daughter with him when doing this crime. So needless to say life has been crazy.

Hi , couple of questions if thats ok? How much meth were u on before goin on subs and did u feel s*** for a while while changing over? Im on 15ml comin dwn a couple ml every 2-3 weeks. Feel alright exept sweating alot, I wont lie I do have a cpl joints at night and have shifted anxiety and depression. In permanent work and have an alright relationship with my family. I have a wee girl whos 5.(just buildin a pic of my life for u) .. Spoke to my doc about goin on them but he suggests stayin on meth keep coming down and see where we end up and I do see the sence in that, I understand meth isnt the sort of drug to tamper with but I still dont feel like me ye know, I cant seem to feel like ME again and after reading posts I wonder if its this horrible drug makin me feel like this.. Any advice or knowledge would b appreciayed.. Thanks xxx

Your comments are making me realise I should be on Sub.. I have been drug free for a year and a half n want off methadone. I am down to 15ml a day.. My fear is withdrawing and sub not working. I suppose Im scared of the unknown. Iv been on meth the same amount of time and can genuinly say drugs are a thing of my past. I just want to be completely clean of everything.. Would switchin to Subs benifit me and wil I be on them for long? I come down about 2-3ml of meth every 2-3wks so Im doing well but cannot seem to gain my confidence back while Im stil on this. Only ine friend knows Im on it so I am also keepin it secret from my family. I am goin abroad with mum in April and the thought of takin it thru customs is enough to give me anxiety attack. Any advice on goin on and gettin off sub would b so appreciated.. Thanks.... Xxxx

"Motion for Discovery" means the attorney petitions the court to make the "other side" give him any (and all) evidence they have against you. Even if it's exculpatory evidence. (Evidence that proves innocence or is in your favor) By law, they have to turn all this over anyway. Good luck!

I contacted her supervisor but she is out til the 28th. BUT! I talked to my attorney and he is filing for motion of discovery, or whatever its called. Like I said she is trying to do what she can to make me look bad but ive got an MD on my side so im just waiting he lil tantrum out :) I know im not doing anything wrong so why should I be all worked up?!

Thanks and about your post. That is fishy about jfs. I would march right down there with proof of you script. And take it to her supervisor if you had to hun. Because I had never heard of such a thing that's crazy!
