*UPDATE* I am an adult. I just got completely off of vivance after taking it three years. I titrated down from 75 starting in feb where I was smoking like a train and angry anxious no feelings or affection no desire to be around others and depressed ZERO ENERGY to 50 smoking less and less of all other dide effects....And then to 20 then ZERO side effects. Smoke free. Anger free and am slowly getting my NORMAL FREAKING ENERGY BACK! Lost a relationship but it wasn't worth my time anyway since I told him I was withdrawing off of this stuff and he might as well have been taking it because he became way too much for me to deal with without the medication. My youngest is entirely off of his concert a or any add med and I am homeschooling him. He tried vyvanse and became ultra whiny, ocd and paranoid so YES those can be side effects. We both gained like 30 pounds each stopping all these trashy meds but I think that is our liver recovering from this poison. My withdrawals were terrible but I did it! My last daily pill was April 19! I tried 20 last week because I was SO FATIGUED for two months but it was awful. After sleeping two days after that last one I have slowly gained my energy back and am having more good hours than bad!! It can be done! Also! Memory is much better. If you are taking this be SURE to take magnesium when you come down and calcium I'm the mornings. They deplete your body causing anxiety and snger!!

My husband has been on Vyvanze for 5 yrs. he was also on Cymbalta, Wellbutrin and now Fetzima. The past year has been horrible! He also chose to drink beer and tequila with all of this plus heart meds, cholesterol meds, thyroid meds, metformin. OMG! Recently, he totally lost it at a friends house. He screamed, raged etc. he doesn't remember anyof it except for our friend telling him to leave. His psychiatrist is now detoxing him off cymbalta and Wellbutrin. He has been totally off Vyvanze for 5 days and is already calmer and nicer. The goal is to get him off of ALL of this crap,except for Fetzima. The issue now is that his blood pressure is always high....possibly a side effect of withdrawals from Cymbalta. The psych broke his Fetzima dosage in to 2 separate doses. 40 MGS in the morning and 40 MGS. In the afternoon. The psych says he may be "ultra metabolizing" the Fetzima. What a nightmare! Has anyone heard or experienced this?

Thank you Donna I will be looking into something different however this is his forth medication so far the best for concentration.

I know someone taking this medication and is also pounding down wine and vodka. Her anger and physical attacks are out of control. Falling down drunk she drinks uncontrollably till she passes out. Goes to bed at 3:ooam and sleeps until noon every day.

Hi The doctor in the ER just gave him a shot of benedryl for the itching. Just said to take him completly off the medicine and for him to see a neurologist.He has been off the medicine for two days.The jerking has not been bad. He still has the facial tics and some vocal tics.Slight with the jerking.He is still very irritable. He missed 5 days of school so far because of this.The mental health services that he was getting they are so stupid. I tried to worn the doctor that he might be having some vocal tics and she blew it off saying it was proably dry mouth from the medicine.I wasn't to sure at that time.They have not helped him there only did harm. I feel I can't trust a doctor and medicines anymore.I feel bad for anyone who suffered this or withdrawal symptoms.I just hope so much that it will eventually go away for my son. It was horrible experience for him and for us to see this happen. I haven't seen any other blogs about this medicine or anyone that experienced what my son did. Thank You

My son has been on vyvanse for 6 months now, he has become very aggitated, aggressive and his peronality has changed from loving to hating us. He thinks the whole world is out to get him and that no one likes or cares about him. He has so much anger and it is causing me to become depressed. I took him to his doctor and told him I thought the medicine was causing this because he didn't act this way while he was on concerta and the doctor said he didn't think it was the medicine that he was just depressed and needs to see a child psychiatrist because he is 11 yrs old. I disagree and think it is the medication causing these mood changes.

I've been on vyvanse for about 13 months now. I'm fourteen years old, and I'm scared to come off of it. I had the doctor move me up on it until I could focus completely throughout the school day without a "low" point. But it does mess up some people.. My best friend is autistic and when taking it remembers nothing of 2 months of her life, including meeting one of our other friends. Vyvanse is dangerous and only works for some people, and using it in larger amounts than prescribed can lead to many problems.. But if your child is experiencing problems, the first thing to check is that you're dispensing the meds yourself, and not letting them ahold of it themself. This can be vital, as many teens will end up wanting to/actually overdosing.

What are the withdrawel symptoms to Vyvanse. Of course we were told by the DR., it would be just tiredness.

My story is different than many I have read. I am 51 years old and I have been on Vyvanse for about two years. I went from 30mg, to 50mg then 60 mg. Now I have been on 60mg's for over a year. I am a person with severe chronic feet pain. I didn't go see a psychiatrist until my pain was unbearable. So the doctor gave me a test that was with a computer and I had something like a band on my head and to bands on my knees. I think the test is called the "Quotient Test" and then he indicated that the test shows that I am ADHD. Well, I lived all my life without no medication for ADHD and now I need to take a pill??? Anyway, since I have so much feet pain from Morton's Neuromas, Planters, Tissue growth on the middle of my feet from standing long hours. Pain in my lower back and meatless feet that you can fell the bone coming through. I can never find a decent pair of shoes for my feet. But I find that Epi Foam is helpful for the inside of my sneakers. I have many inserts done. I've seen numerous doctors and one removed one of my Neuromas, but it came back. So now I have two on each foot. I am miserable. To young to have a handicap on my car. And too cute to be in a electric buggy. My problem is I just stopped cold turkey the Vyvanse. I take other medications for nerve damage pain called Cymbalta and I take xanax for bedtime. I have now been feeling bad lately and hate my life. I wish I would of retired five years ago so I could enjoy my life now. I feel like I am 80 years old from my lower back down and I rarely do anything for exercise. I have no sex drive. I think way too many people are taking this drug just to loose weight or to do better in college and stay focused and to stay up at work. I think the doctors have great stock in pharmaceuticals. I do too much skin and scalp picking that I never did. This is why I decided to take myself off vyvanse. It just can't do a body good with all the stuff I am taking. I am still waiting for the skin and scalp picking to stop. I do it until I bleed. Oh and I attack my head as soon as I get in my car. I feel people must think I have lice. I will keep everyone updated as I am getting off the Vyvanse. God Bless To All

Ive been on vyvanse now for bout 2 years, and i LOVE it. it doesnt have as much effect on me as it used to, but i went from wanting to die, to a court room, and now trying to get a job and couldnt be closer to my family. its true not everyone is compatible to the same things, but i would tell everyone to try it at least once to see how they like it and how it works for them. Honestly? 50 percent of the time if someone feels down or just cant put up with crap anymore they either start a habit of drinking and drugs. this medicine (if compatible) could change peoples lives and make happiness change from a dream to reality like it has for me without being seen negatively by the eyes of the law
I read some things that people were saying, and i agree with what one person said.
(in my opinion) smaller children shouldnt take this no matter HOW spaced out and wild they are,they have far more energy then adults do and running or sports is the perfect way to release that without a drug that has to do with chemicals in the brain. if you give a child a drug like this it will change their personality and make them dependent on it.
im not trying to tell people how to raise their children,change their ways,or bashing on them if anyone thinks that and if anyones offended to this then pardon me. Have hope, keep the faith, have a nice day.

Ok, Now I'm over the vyvanse. It was not bad. But then again I was taking cymbalta and xanax. I just don't want to keep taking pills. I think I will still keep in touch to let everyone know how I am doing.

this drug took my 7 yr old princess an turned her in to someone I didnt even recognize, very angry very emotional, all around 5 pm. so my doc says here is two more pills it will help! I was livid. I an not against meds but this is crazy. ive decided imdone with meds and just doing wrap around services and therepy. weve done about 8 meds now and I am fed up. I am exploring the watson institute it came highly recommended.

Im relieved to read these posts. My fiance has been taking ADHD meds since he was a kid but now he takes Vyvance. He is normally a very loving and affectionate man but every month when he gets his meds he completely changes. He becomes quiet, serious, wants to clean and organize the whole house or other "projects", he loses his appetite, becomes very violent and aggressive, lies, and is very irritable when he first wakes up. I started noticing the pattern and found out he was taking a months supply in two weeks. When I started telling him that I didn't like the way they made him act he began hiding them so I wouldn't know how many he was taking. It was like dealing with someone on drugs. I recognized the signs because Im a recovered addict that has been clean 3 years. When we first met I let him convince me to try one because I didnt have my meds with me. It felt like I had relapsed. I felt like I had taken meth. I needed a drink to calm my nerves, and felt like I needed a cigarette and I don't usually smoke. When my fiance takes these pills he drinks and smokes
Cigarettes. He gets angry when I tell him the pills make him violent and distant. Usually he jokes and laughs and acts goofy. But when he is high on these pills its like another person. Im scared for our relationship because I love him but I can see addict behavior and he doesn't think they're a problem because they're prescribed and he says he needs them to focus and get things done. I don't know what to do.

I had to get off of vyvanse for now. I want to see if there is an improvement at all. My feet are still killing me to the point I am mad at the world. It is horrible.
So far without the vyvanse I feel like I don't need it to continue life. I already have pain and I hate the idea of all the side affects that all the drugs have. I will look into natural remedies

My daughter has been on this vyvance 30mg for 3days so far we have notice that she talks to her self or rather she is just thinking out loud we watch her very carefully she is 16 yrs. old

katt7369: Definitely take your child off the Vyvanse as soon as you can, and try another medication. There are at least fourteen different meds out there; with any luck you'll find the one that works for your child sooner rather than later. If that med doesn't work, then try another... and another.. and another. Keep the faith! It will work out for you :-)

Hi, my husband started to use Vyvanse one year ago and he became another person ... really agressive and totally negative. It so hard on our couple that I cannot bear him and with children it comes to a point that no one in the house could say anything at all. I still love him and I want him back so deseperately ... he was so lovely,charming and funny before now it's always like a war to finish with me and kids.

I would check his dosage. My DR recommends 20mg . I use 30mg now but would be fine with the 20mg. It does not make me aggressive and seriously helps a lot with my ADD. But if it makes your husband so aggressive that it interferes with family I would talk to your DR about it. Perhaps another prescription would work. Also, there are a lot of therapies and other methods to treat ADD. I hopefully will be able to explore them so I could stop taking a pill everyday.
