Tramoldol Withdrawl
UpdatedIm on 1500 mg of slow release tramodol a day. I take 5 of the 300mg pills. i have been trying to wean for a year, i cant get below three pills a day. I have tried different strengths, done good for a bit, but i have two kids, one is rebelling really bad, a three year old that is hell on wheels, hubby that is horrible, and Im looking for a job....nobody knows of my addiction, from the outside we look like a great family, we live in a big house, have money, but i use the tramodol to escape my reality. how do i get off these pills, and how long do the withdrawls last? I took too many yesterday, and threw up all over the road while out with the family. i said i must have eaten something bad. later that night i asked my hubby to sleep on the couch, thank god, because i had a seizure. first on ever, scared me, i need to get off these pills! any one help please!!

Mrs. Robinson,
I can sympathize with you as I have come off of Tramodol a few times, though never from such a great height as 1500 mg a day. My max was always 500mg a day (on a bad day as you have described). The hard part is the sweating, restlessness, and simply feeling like you are going to explode. My advice is to stick with the weening. The way I do it is to go from 100s to 50s. Keep a small stash and everytime you feel the effects of withdrawal, take one 50mg. This will help you come down, but the hardest part is will power. You have to decide in your mind to not go for the second or third tab. That is why you need a distraction in the mean time. Something that is totally all engrossing, like a video game, movies, gardening, or whatever else does it for you. This is the reason I'll always start coming down on the weekend. After you can make it pass the first three days, you should be able to manage. The important thing is to exhaust your small supply of reserve 50mgs to handle withdrawals and eventually they become less severe, more manageable, and eventually nothing a regular tylenol can't help. Another method I employed before is to save up a different type of pain pill and use that as I'm getting off the Tramodol. This might not be as effective or even possible, but it has worked for me. I wish you the best of luck, but remember, regardless. YOU have to make the choice and I know it's hard, I've struggled with it for several years. YOU have to tell yourself to stop. My mantra has always been: "It's easier to say yes, than it is to say no." I repeat it over and over every time I get stressed or just want a relief from the everyday grind. It is always easier to say yes, than it is to say no. Best of luck to you and hope this helps even a little.
Hi. First of all you are not alone. Tramadol addiction creeps up on most people in my experience. I was taking seven to eight sheets of 50mg zydol 3500/4000mg a day in the end for nearly two years. I suffer with a mood disorder hurt my leg in work and was prescribed one 50mg capsule three times daily. I found that my mood was elevated, my depression and anxiety subsided and I felt I was functioning the best i had for years i felt amazing! Then the tolerance kicked in and i needed more and more to regulate my mood sleep etc, amongst a lot of other things. I couldn't live without them found myself lying to two doctors and managing to get two prescriptions and extra supply from wherever i could. In the end i could not even lower my dose from 4000mg a day to 3500mg a day or the withdrawals would start. In all honesty i felt so good when i was on them, life was amazing but as soon as i tried to lower that dose even by a little things quickly became horrific. I was genuinly trapped in a Tramadol cell and i thought i would never get out of it. NOW I WOULD NEVER CONDONE THIS BUT THIS IS HOW I GOT MYSELF OFF THEM AND HOW LONG IT TOOK FOR ME TO WITHDRAW THEN NORMALIZE AFTER THE WITHDRAWALS. My gp at the time just cut me off completely i was nieve to how dangerous that was at the time and thought well if the doctor has just sopped the pills then i can just stop. I cold turkied an went through over three weeks of sheer hell. It didn't stop there though. After what i call the 'main' withdrawals subsided i suffered with a chronic depression and anxiety that stayed at a constant. No good days followed by bad days just constantly the latter. This went on for 6 months until things started to improve but i suffered with phantom joint pains all over my body for over a year afterwards. I suppose it all depends on the person. The dosage and the duration its being took for but coming off tramadol is a very hard slog and it takes a lot of mental strength and motivation. I found that once your at a level where the dose your taking is beyond 3000mg a day. Tapering off is just prolonging the agony. Get some medical support and support from loved ones and go for it. Good luck to you and all that find themselves trapped as a tramadolic. Best wishes in your recovery and keeping your ability to remain tramadol free.
