They Told Me At The Doctor Today That I Tested Positive Last Month For Suboxone And I Have Never Taken It
UpdatedI did a regular urine screen at my pain doctor's last month and this month my new nurse practitioner said it tested positive for Suboxone ! I did not even know what it was ! I did just start taking Buspar, could that have caused a false positive ? I have been going to that practice for 7 years, I have never had a bad urine screen before ! Now she says if it shows up again, they will dismiss me. HELP !!
I've seen this question a lot, and someone I know and trust very well had this happen once in several years of testing. I've researched it some and found that in some cases people who are not actually taking their Suboxone will crush some up to put in their urine so they get a positive result, and that sometimes in such cases, the probe itself can contaminate the next sample. You might tell this to your doctor, and suggest he look at the article on the national institute of health government website on trusting patients (or not) when they insist their test is wrong. If they let a patient know immediately and give them the option to retest sooner, they could then trust their patients and the results on the second run. The chance of a sample being contaminated by the probe on another day on the same patient is pretty much non-existent, I would think. But the chance that someone who's been testing clean for anything but prescribed meds to have a contaminated test once seems a lot more likely. Hope this helps somebody, if not the original poster.
I took a 1mg of Xanax , but I've tested positive for Xanax for 3 weeks because I was taking it regular for awhile, how will that 1mg show up on the next test in 6 days?
My suboxone doctor said suboxone doesn't show up in a drug urinalysis at all. Only a blood test and they have to specifically be testing for suboxone. This is true because I passed my drug test.
Why didn't you ask the doctor about Buspar while you were there? That makes no sense.
Well, BuSpar doesn't work, for one thing, except possibly in tremendously high doses.
If your Drs office does not trust you find another dr. you dont deserve this. If you continue to go there and they dismiss you for a false positive you have the right to sue them. The same day they give you a drug test i would go to another dr the same day and get drug tested so you have proof there is no subs in your system! F*** your dr, they have alot of nerve to threaten you like that.
Turns out that the practice was going to stop taking my medical insurance. That was what this was all about. They called and asked that i bring in my meds for a pill count. I live an hour and a half from the practice and usually I had just taken my meds to my local pharmacy and let them count it and they called the doctor's office and told them the total. This time I said "You know this is a financial burden on me to bring this all the way up there and they said, YOU HAVE TO ! I have been writing down every time I take meds for the past 2 1/2 years and I knew my pill count was fine. The next day I got an automated call stating that I was dismissed from the practice and when I called they said it was for inconsistant pill count. They said I could write a letter to them and they would make a decision in about 6 weeks. Meanwhile what about my meds. They said they couldn't help me with that. I have since found another doctor. Then after all of this, I got a letter informing me that my insurance would be covering them after all, but I did not go back. Loved the practice, had been going there 7 years, but I couldn't trust them anymore.
What about patients who LOSE pills. I spilled a bottle of Percocet 10/300 not too long ago, They were all over my Subaru, but the reason i was taking Perocet 10/300 had everything to do with an accident that kinda took out my legs (they bounced back) and caused irregular episodes of Vertigo for a few months.I called my doc, He asked me to please reduce to writing what I just told him and while I did that, he called the prescriber. Within hours I had a new pull Rx bottle of 120 tablets. I faxed in my statement of professional letterhead; after all, it wasn't a personal letter.
They had every right to dismiss you. When you signed the contract it clearly says you must show up within 24 hours for a random pill count. Regardless of the financial burden. If you can make it to pick up your Rx then you can get there for the count
Yes they dohave the right to dismiss someone, however, they are NOT aloud to just stop prescribing the medication, they must wing them off,or PAY for them to do a detox!
They used to have to give you a 30 day supply. It is now at the Dr's discretion
suboxone will show up on a specific drug test they usually don't test for it on a regular ol drug test it has to b a specfic drug test that does test for suboxone now how long it stays in your urine I'm not sure about
Request to sit down with the nurse and your Dr. sounds like you need to prove to them you are not taking suboxone. however if they dont believe you find another dr. that will trust you. me personally,i would not go back to your dr. get a new one its not worth the worries or stress
If I take a suboxone today and do a breathlyzer test tomorrow will it show up positive
Best post I've ever read on here! !!!!!!!!
That's okay 3 wks ago my Dr cut me off 100mg patch every 24 hrs plus 6 80mg oxys daily. Cut me off cold turkey after 21 yrs on it.get this. It's because he found out that my husband was on methadone over 22 yrs ago. He was on it for only 11 months. He was originally hooked on ONE oxy a day. The very day that he realized that he needed 2 oxys was the same day he went for help. And my Dr cuts me off my meds cold turkey. On day 3 was withdrawing sooo bad that I completely stopped breathing at 3am.everyone was sleeping another 20 secs I would have been dead and buried by now. Luckily mom was visiting with a puffer in her suitcase. After more than 30 blasts they somehow kept my airway opened long enough waiting the 22 mins for ambulance and firefighters to show up and blast the oxygen in me for the 30 min ride to nearest hospital. . I've nvr abused my patch and even voluntarily returned each and every used patch directly to the pharmacy. And have been flushing the oxys for 27 months. Over 5000 pills are in the lake behind my house. Damn did I ever regret that on the day he cut me off! ! Not to mention that he's fondled me sooo bad TWICE
I felt like my Dr's Hoe. I was a trapped victim or else I risked being cut off cold turkey! !!!! Which happened in the long run. He's been fired by us.we are all 4 of us without a Dr. 3 of us are type 1 diabetics. The one who isn't (hubby) diabetic just had his right kidney out almost 4 wks ago! So obviously we're desperately trying to find a new family Dr. I am sooo unhealthy it's not even normal. Which explains why I'm typing this at 6am. Feet hurting sooo frikken bad that I've been standing up next to my bed for 8 straight hrs so far. And the day is still young. Have several more hrs of pain to come.
We are soooo angry it's not even funny. Cut me cold turkey and laughed and said "I've nvr lost anyone from withdrawal. I said "oh really gerry and how many others do you give 100mg patch EVERY 24 hrs and 6 80mg limes (oxys) daily.
Then he said he has another woman who he just cut off bcuz she was hooked on percocets! ! Then I laughed and said that's smarties compared to my Rx!! He prescribes the crap to ppl then cuts them cold turkey. My husband called him a legalized drug dealer right to his face and about another 15 words that I cannot say on here bcuz it's not allowed but each and every word started with an F !!!
After seeing the same Dr for 5 years today was the 1st time i have ever failed a durg test for anything! It came back with subutex in it! I have never taken that nor do I know anyone that does. I am so humiliated!!!! I took another test to prove my innocence. What is going to happen?
You could actually sue for wrongful dismissal is all you've said is true! This is crazy! I'd consider at least consulting a lawye . If for nothing else than to show them they can't treat people like this!!! So it doesnt happen to the next person! PS. One of the other posts mentioned that suboxone doesnt show up in regular tests and they are right!!! Another added plus if you decide to consult a lawyer. Only my doctor says suboxone has to be the specific reason they are testing. In other words, it doesn't show if your just testing for "drugs". You have to be testing for it specifically, no matter what form of test your taking! Good luck!
That's not true. My probation officer has a ua that show suboxone on it.
It shouldn't if they know about it, but if u get any false positive or any deficit negative of a drug that should be there thst isn't REQUEST or DEMAND another test! I did, and it did save me when I did, on a false negative.
Not entirely true. I was getting oxy from a family practice and doing ua before I got my script. I would always run out early..consume marijuana daily and subs until my next oxy appointment. I learned from the clinic nurses mom that they did not test for suboxone, therefor on my ua I would fake pass on the marijuana and be hot for the oxy in order get my next oxy script. I also learned our hospital lab does in fact test for sub. (small town) the major hospital lab in the bigger town hospital routinely checks for sub. (got caught). A friend told me probation and parole tests for suboxone in their routine ua's nowadays. He needed a medical certificate for his CDL and was given a ua which only tests for the "federal 5"..or NIDA 5..SAMHSA 5 which does not check for box. I was in a suboxone program where ua compliance checks were required. All this said.. is it entirely by chance what drug panel test will be given if buprenorphone will show positive.

It won’t show up if they don’t test for it, so they may not, but my pain management doctor absolutely does.
The one I went to in 2016 didn’t test for marijuana, so if I had asked them if marijuana would show up that would be no because they don’t test for it.
Wtf? Taking buspar and testing positive for suboxone? Of course u would - they both contain buprenorphine, so testing positive for suboxone is like testing positive for buspar. F'ing *****s - doesn't the nurse know that?
This is EXTREMELY FALSE! I have two take a urine test monthly for it to show in my system. It DOES SHOW IN A URINALYSIS!!! NOT JUST BLOOD DRAWS!!
Ask your boyfriend/girlfriend if they have taken it.
